Chapter 797 You Can't Date My Mommy
Loving couple?
Katherine glanced over at Ambrosia and Sunny, and saw Sunny putting one of Ambrosia's hands into his own pocket, with a nonchalant expression on his face.
However, he gladly accepted Jonathan's comment about them being a loving couple, a hint of pride showing at the corners of his mouth.
Ambrosia wasn't too happy about it, but she couldn't be bothered to explain anything.
Katherine watched them and didn't intervene, but she couldn't help but think of Alex from the past.
He used to be like that too, always needing to touch her, so unreasonable!
The waiter came over and served a few cold dishes before leaving.
Katherine took a photo of the dishes on the table and sent it to a certain man through a special channel, with the caption: [Wanna eat?]
The message went unanswered for a long time, and Katherine's eyes showed disappointment. She figured he was probably busy and didn't dwell on it, putting her phone away.
Jonathan noticed her sneaky texting and raised an eyebrow, probing, "Who were you sharing the food with just now?"
Katherine looked up at Jonathan, "A friend! Mr. Mostow, you should worry less about others and focus on your own meal."
Feeling rejected again, Jonathan sighed helplessly and started eating.
He had hoped to have a good chat with Katherine over dinner, but with so many people around, that wish was dashed.
Sunny was secretly playing with Ambrosia's smooth, slender hand in his pocket, but she ignored him, not even glancing his way, which annoyed him.
However, he didn't plan to tease Ambrosia in front of Katherine; there would be plenty of time for that later.
"Katherine, why are you with Jonathan today? What did you guys do?"
Since Ambrosia ignored him, Sunny started a conversation.
Jonathan smiled suggestively, "Katherine and I..."
Katherine, afraid he might say something misleading, quickly interjected, "We discussed work and did some field research."
Sunny squinted, looking inquisitive, "Work? I didn't know the Melville Group and the Mostow Group were collaborating."
Katherine glanced at him indifferently, "There are many things you don't know. Just because we haven't collaborated before doesn't mean we won't in the future. In business, for mutual benefit, you can work with anyone, got it?"
Sunny was skeptical, "I thought you two were out on a date, like me and Ambrosia!"
Ambrosia couldn't stand Sunny's nonsense anymore and squeezed his hand in his pocket, signaling him to shut up.
Katherine's expression was indifferent, "Do you think I'm like you, with nothing better to do than go on dates all day?"
Sunny felt Ambrosia's squeeze and understood she wanted him to shut up, but it only fueled his rebellious spirit, and he deliberately said, "Katherine, what's wrong with me? I believe that when you're in love, you should be all in. You shouldn't worry about gains and losses, hold back, or keep score of who gives more! If you're always cautious, that's not love; it's a business deal! I don't like it! If I'm going to be in a relationship, I want it to be wholehearted!"
Jonathan was taken aback and couldn't help but praise, "Sunny, you act like a child most of the time, but you sure talk like a wise man!"
Sunny said, "I just don't like relationships with too much competitiveness. What's the point of constantly trying to outdo each other? You end up wasting time that could be spent together, thinking about useless things! In love, so what if you lose?"
Katherine squinted, her expression complicated.
She and Alex had wasted so much time not being together, and now...
Sunny understood this, but she was only realizing it now!
Ambrosia, sensing Katherine's discomfort, stood up and pulled Sunny, "Come with me to the restroom!"
Sunny was reluctantly pulled up but happily followed, "Ambrosia, you even need me to go to the restroom with you? Alright, I'll go with you, but slow down!"
Ambrosia thought, 'Sunny, can you just shut up?'
After Ambrosia and Sunny left, only Katherine and Jonathan were left in the room, along with three babies who didn't understand what the adults were talking about.
Jonathan seemed to notice Katherine's sadness and pursed his lips, "Sunny is the youngest, but who would've thought he understands relationships better than I do?"
Katherine laughed self-deprecatingly, "Yeah! Sometimes the simplest and most straightforward thoughts are the purest."
Jonathan looked at her deeply, "To not waste more precious time, how about we..."
Katherine was slightly wary, "What?"
Jonathan smiled, "Well, have a try."
Katherine frowned, annoyed that Jonathan was talking nonsense again, but before she could refuse, Edith in her arms spoke up for her, "No way! You can't date my mommy!"
Jonathan was momentarily stunned, "Why not? I will be good to both you and your mommy!"
Edith furrowed her brows. "Because you're not my type! I don't like your type as a dad!"
Jonathan was curious, "What type of man do you like as a dad? I can try to be that."
Edith said, "To be my dad, the first thing is to be handsome, even more handsome than my Uncle Bernard! You're pretty, but not as manly as my Uncle Bernard! So, you're not qualified!"
Jonathan rarely frowned. This little Edith said he wasn't manly enough?
He was a hunk, okay?
"Edith, I think you misunderstand me. I'm actually very manly, just more gentle in front of your mommy," Jonathan defended himself.
Edith shook her head, "No! I advise you to give up on my mommy because you don't seem like the kind of man who can be my dad!"
Jonathan propped his chin, coaxing Edith, "I'll try my best. One day, I'll make you think I can be a good dad!"
