Chapter 76 He Married Someone Else

The sudden ring of a phone made Katherine snap back to reality, and the lingering, flirtatious atmosphere between them dissipated in an instant.

Facing the man's deep ink-colored eyes, Katherine felt uneasy and took a step back. She took out her phone to check the caller ID, and it was a call from Sherry.

Before she could answer the call, Sherry's voice rang outside the restroom, accompanied by an impatient knocking on the door.

"Katherine, are you in there? I heard your annoying ringtone. Get out of there now, don't hide in the restroom and slack off!" Sherry scolded.

Katherine frowned, looked up at the man, shrugged, and said, "Alex, did you hear that? Someone is looking for me, and I have to go out first."

Alex looked at her without saying anything.

Katherine moved slightly, then thought for a moment and said, "Alex, could you wait a bit before going out? If she sees us both in the same restroom, I won't be able to explain."

After saying that, she turned to leave, but Alex's large hand on her waist didn't loosen. He exerted force to pull her back into his arms.

Alex lowered his body, leaned close to her ear, and warned in a stern voice, "Don't touch glasses with anyone else."

Katherine was taken aback and replied, "I understand."

Even though Katherine didn't see the man's expression at that moment, she could clearly feel Alex's strong possessiveness.

However, it was only due to his obsession with cleanliness, not because he had any feelings for her.

She was well aware of this but inexplicably felt a sense of confusion in her heart. It was like a calm lake disturbed by a thrown stone. Alex casually stirred up a ripple of turmoil, and then it quickly subsided back to its apparent calmness.

However, the stone that fell into the water sank to the bottom of the lake, staying there forever.

Katherine walked out of the restroom.

Sherry stood with her arms crossed, impatiently scolding, "Katherine, you're really good at slacking off. You used the excuse of making a call to hide in the restroom and not come back. Did I hire you to slack off?"

Katherine yawned wearily, then replied, "It's already half past ten in the evening. No matter how high the salary is, I should go off work."

Sherry snorted disdainfully, "Are you still mentioning going off work to me? You just accidentally burned Mr. Melville with hot coffee, and I haven't settled the score with you yet. Do you know how serious it is to offend Mr. Melville? If Mr. Melville refuses to invest in my new movie today, it's all because of you!"

Katherine looked indifferent and answered, "I have already apologized to him. If I need to take responsibility, I can cover the cost of a burn ointment for him. As for other consequences, they have nothing to do with me. I said I didn't want to go in, but you insisted on taking me in, and you also ordered me to pour coffee for them."

"You..." Sherry was momentarily speechless.

Katherine stretched and yawned, "If there's nothing else, I'll leave work now. Bye!"

After saying that, Katherine leisurely bypassed Sherry and walked downstairs. She had no intention of returning to the coffee shop; it was pointless.

"Katherine, who allowed you to leave work? Come back here! Stop and listen to me..." Sherry stomped her feet in place, glaring.

But Katherine ignored her, walked downstairs, and left without looking back.

Fuming with anger, Sherry would have caught up and cursed that woman if she didn't have to wait for Kenny. Katherine was just a wild girl raised in the countryside, without any manners or discipline.

Muttering a few curses, Sherry turned to go back to the coffee shop. However, when she turned around, she saw Alex elegantly stepping out of the restroom they were just in...

This caught Sherry off guard. Sherry thought, 'What's going on?'

'Katherine had just come out from inside not long ago, and now Mr. Melville is also coming out from there?'

'Did they both use the same restroom? '

Realizing this possibility, Sherry was first incredulous, and then became wary.

When Katherine was pouring coffee earlier, Mr. Melville's gaze towards Katherine seemed off, and Katherine, that little bitch, was good at seducing men. Maybe she deliberately spilled the coffee to attract attention and flirt with Mr. Melville.

Thinking this, Sherry couldn't stand it and had to find out the truth.

So she put on a charming smile, walked towards Alex, and pretended to be innocently curious, asking, "Mr. Melville, my assistant just came out of this restroom, and now you're coming out too? Did you both share a restroom?"

"Your assistant?" Alex glanced at Sherry, his eyes devoid of warmth, and coldly replied with three words, "Didn't see her."

Didn't see her!

Alex's attitude was cold, which made Sherry feel a bit scared but also somewhat relieved.

Perhaps when she was talking to Katherine earlier, Mr. Melville had gone in to use the restroom.

Well, it was normal that men always used the restroom faster than women.

With Mr. Melville's status, how could he possibly share a restroom with Katherine, a country girl?

Sherry thought she must have been overthinking it.

Sherry immediately put on a coy smile, shyly touched her hair, and took the opportunity to say, "Mr. Melville, my assistant accidentally burned you today, and I feel really guilty... How about leaving me your number? I'll treat you to dinner another day to express my apologies."

"No need to bother," he said coldly.

With those four words, Alex bypassed Sherry and walked away.

"Mr. Melville..." Sherry looked disappointed and called out, unwillingly taking a few steps after him. "Wait, Mr. Melville! Mr. Melville, I'm sincere..."

No matter how much Sherry tried to detain him, the man didn't stop or even look back at her. Feeling the aura of 'keep away from me' emanating from him, Sherry didn't dare to follow and could only give up, planning to find another opportunity to get close.

She stood still, watching the tall, handsome, mature, and elegant figure of the man, revealing a look of infatuation and longing.

Alex was truly the young master of the Melville family. He was so imposing and charming.

Moreover, Mr. Melville was not only handsome and wealthy but also generous; he didn't even hold a grudge when his hand got burned.

He might seem indifferent to outsiders, but it also showed that he didn't mess around.

Sherry thought if such a man could fall in love with her, she would surely be treated gently and pampered like a little princess.

It was a pity that such a perfect man was already married.

At the thought of this matter, Sherry's heart ached as if bleeding, filled with deep regret.

She almost had him back then.
