Chapter 85 Mr. Melville, Please Don't...

Sherry enthusiastically explained her purpose but received no reaction from Alex, causing her smile to become somewhat stiff.

Alex's face was cold and indifferent, making him intimidating.

She didn't dare to force a conversation any further, so she tried to ease the awkwardness by turning to Ambrosia, who had come out to see Alex off:

She inquired, "Ms. Hawthorne, where is my assistant? I need to get something from her."

A barely noticeable hint of unease flashed in Ambrosia's eyes. She calmly adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and replied, "Ms. Galatea, your assistant just stepped out."

Sherry frowned in dissatisfaction, and then snorted, "Stepped out? Where did she go? She didn't even wait for me to come back!"

Ambrosia's lips curved into a polite but indifferent smile, saying, "I don't know."

Sherry was already annoyed that Katherine had been left alone to talk, and now, learning that she had gone without a word made her even more upset. She immediately took out her phone to call Katherine and question her.

Ambrosia wanted to stop Sherry, but it was too late.

Soon, Katherine's phone rang from inside the office...

Sherry was taken aback and said in surprise, "Ms. Hawthorne, my assistant's phone is ringing in your office. Isn't she still in there?"

Ambrosia's expression was uncertain, but she masked it with a professional smile, saying, "Ms. Galatea, your assistant did step out. Perhaps she just forgot to take her phone."

Alex's dark eyes deepened. He recalled the architect Moon, whose eyes behind the gas mask seemed familiar to him.

Realizing something, Alex's pupils contracted slightly. He turned to head back to the office to investigate.

Seeing this, Ambrosia stepped in front of the door, looking up at the client, who was a head taller than her, and asking, "Mr. Melville, what's the matter? Did you forget something too?"

Alex's eyes were deep as he said, "I have some new ideas about the design plan for the Melville Group building. I need to discuss them with Moon."

Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses with her fingertips and smiled. "Mr. Melville, you can tell me your needs, and I will relay them word for word."

Alex's dark eyes narrowed, questioning, "Why? Moon is just inside; why do you need to relay the message? Ms. Hawthorne, it seems like you're afraid of me going back in. What are you trying to hide?"

Ambrosia's face showed a moment of seriousness, but she quickly smiled again. "Mr. Melville, don't misunderstand. What could I be hiding? It's just that Moon is our company's star designer, and as you know, she is currently suffering from a severe allergy. The doctor has repeatedly advised her to rest and not to overexert herself. If she collapses, not only will she be unable to complete your order, Mr. Melville, but our Crescent Group's market competitiveness will also be affected. So, as a considerate boss, I hope that Moon can rest as much as possible and not be disturbed."

Alex remained unmoved and was determined to go in.. He stated, "I just need to ask Moon one question. It won't take long. Please step aside, Ms. Hawthorne."

Alex's eyes were filled with impatience. The only reason he hadn't forced his way in was his inherent manners.

Ambrosia frowned, still blocking the door, insisting, "Mr. Melville, please don't..."

As the standoff continued, Katherine's clear voice suddenly came from the other side. "Sherry, I'm here!"

Hearing Katherine's voice, both Alex and Ambrosia turned to look. Katherine leisurely walked over from the left side of the office, even covering her mouth as she yawned.

Frank, the vice president of Crescent Group, followed beside her.

A handsome man and a beautiful woman walked together, a perfect match in both appearance and talent.

Seeing Katherine walking with Mr. Perez from Crescent, Sherry was consumed with  jealousy. However, in front of the three important figures, she had to maintain a friendly smile, though she deliberately asked, "Katherine, where did you go?"

Katherine walked over and honestly replied, "I wanted to go to the restroom. I looked around but couldn't find it, then I ran into Mr. Perez, and he kindly showed me the way."

Sherry glared at Katherine before turning to Frank and politely saying, "Mr. Perez, I'm really sorry for the trouble Katherine caused you."

Frank smiled, "No trouble at all. I was heading to the restroom as well, so it was no bother."

Sherry forced a few laughs, feeling quite displeased that Katherine had the chance to interact with Mr. Perez alone.

Katherine then asked sweetly, "Sherry, how did it go? Did you learn about the new product?"

Sherry couldn't be bothered answering Katherine's question, wondering why a mere assistant needed to know so much. She then turned to Ambrosia with a smile, saying, "Ms. Hawthorne, I've learned about the product. When can we sign the contract?"

Ambrosia's expression had returned to normal, and she replied professionally, "The cooperation needs to be finalized with your agency. An artist cannot sign a work contract directly."

Sherry quickly smiled and said, "That's not a problem. My agent will be available this afternoon to discuss the contract with you."

Ambrosia nodded and added, "Alright, then bring your agent this afternoon to meet with the project manager."

"Okay, thank you!" Sherry was pleased to secure the endorsement and didn't forget to probe further. "And about my new movie?"

Ambrosia's lips curved slightly with a meaningful smile. "If Ms. Galatea's endorsement ad performs well, I will consider investing in your new movie," she said.

"Thank you, Ms. Hawthorne. I won't let you down," Sherry said confidently, full of assurance. "I won't disturb your work any longer. I'll come back this afternoon with my agent to sign the contract."

Ambrosia acknowledged her without much courtesy.

Sherry turned and gave Katherine a disdainful look, saying, "Let's go."

Katherine said, "Wait a moment, I need to get my phone."

"Then hurry up and get it!" Sherry said impatiently, though she tried to keep her composure.

If it weren't for the people around, she would have scolded Katherine for being so troublesome.

Katherine walked straight to Alex, not even glancing at him, and directly pushed open the office door to go inside. She quickly found her phone on the sofa in the office's guest area and put it in her pocket.

On the sofa nearby, 'Moon' wearing a gas mask was busy working on a laptop, typing away as if recording something.

Outside the door, Alex's tall figure stood there, his cold gaze sweeping into the office. Seeing 'Moon' and Katherine in the same place, his frown eased, and the darkness in his eyes gradually dissipated.

Ambrosia turned to Alex and smiled. "It seems our designer Moon hasn't rested yet. If Mr. Melville has something to say to Moon, please go ahead. I won't stop you."

Alex coldly withdrew his gaze and said, "No need."

With those words, Alex turned and left with Leander.

Seeing Alex leave first, Sherry quickly bid farewell to Ambrosia and Frank respectfully, then urged Katherine to hurry so they could catch the same elevator as Mr. Melville.

Watching Katherine and Sherry enter the elevator, Ambrosia frowned with concern and asked Frank, "What happened? How did Katherine manage to get out just now?"
