Chapter 210 Katherine Made Me Kneel
Scarlett let go of the hem of her shirt, straightened it out, and then slowly lifted her head, looking at Katherine with a mix of sympathy and provocation.
She said, "Alex probably didn't tell you that we have a child, did he? Now, do you still dare to say you trust him unconditionally?"
Katherine squinted her eyes slightly. "How old were you when you got pregnant? Where is the child?"
Scarlett noticed Katherine's curiosity and smiled faintly, sensing she had struck a nerve. "Didn't you say you trust Alex a lot? You can ask him for the details! But I guess even if you ask, Alex won't admit it. He won't tell you the truth."
Katherine seemed genuinely curious and raised an eyebrow. "Fine, let's assume what you're saying is true. If you already have a child, you love him, and he likes you, then why didn't you just get married? As far as I know, the Melville family's elders are very eager for a great-grandchild. With such good news, you two don't seem to have any reason to hide it, do you?"
Scarlett seemed to recall some sad memories and said with a face full of melancholy, "Katherine, you should know that our Mitchell family and the Melville family have some family feuds. Our elders don't agree with me and Alex being together. If they found out I was pregnant, the child would most likely not survive. They would never allow a child born from the union of the Melville and Mitchell families to be born! So Alex sent me abroad to protect me. Katherine frowned slightly. "You still haven't said where the child is."
Scarlett sighed sadly like a mother deeply missing her child. "The child has been weaned and is being cared for by someone else. Alex said he would find a way to resolve the feud between the two families and then bring us into the Melville family. But who knew that during this time, Jackie Melville was pushing for marriage so urgently that Alex had to find someone to deal with Jackie, and that's how he coincidentally found you.
She continued, ''Katherine, I'm not surprised that Alex is attracted to you. Men always like women who are new and exciting. Having already given birth to his child, I've become yesterday's news. But Katherine, even if you are new now, one day you will become old news too! And Alex is different from me. I saved his life, and I gave birth to his child. Katherine listened to her words calmly, nodded, and said, "Alright, I understand. Thank you for letting me know. Is there anything else? If not, please move aside, and I need to eat my chicken wings!"
Scarlett's expression froze, and she was stunned.
What was wrong with Katherine? Why was her reaction always different from normal people? It was always unexpected!
She found out her husband had a child with another woman, and she was still only thinking about eating.
Scarlett glared at Katherine's back, feeling unhappy, and bit her lip secretly.
Suddenly, she saw someone coming out of the villa from the corner of her eye, so she quickly walked up and grabbed Katherine's arm!
Katherine raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What else do you want?"
Without warning, Scarlett knelt on the ground. "Katherine, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. Please don't be mad at me."
Then, as if someone had kicked her hard, she flew out and fell to the ground in pain, weakly groaning, "Katherine, I already apologized. Why did you still kick me?"
Katherine was dumbfounded, looking at Scarlett lying on the ground as if she were crazy.
At this moment, Bernard, who had just come out of the villa, rushed over, pushed Katherine aside and coldly questioned, "Katherine! What did you do to Scarlett?"
Without waiting for Katherine to explain, he quickly bent down to help Scarlett up, full of concern.
He asked, "Scarlett, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Men were generally much stronger than women, and even though Katherine had a steady stance, she was almost pushed over by Bernard!
She staggered back, trying to steady herself, but unfortunately stepped on the pebbled path and slipped, falling into the nearby fish pond.
The pond wasn't deep, but the villa was on a hill, and the temperature dropped at night, making the water feel bone-chillingly cold.
She propped up and poked her head out of the water, looking like a drowned rat.
Just as Katherine was about to get up, a tall figure suddenly appeared by the pond, jumped in, and quickly waded towards her, extending a long arm to scoop her up.
It was Alex!
Katherine shivered. "Alex, it's so cold."
Alex took off his coat, wrapped her wet body tightly, and then carried her out of the pond. "It's okay. Let's go inside and change clothes. You won't be cold then!"
On the shore, Bernard glanced at the drenched Katherine in Alex's arms with a hint of sarcasm in his eyes. He stepped forward to block Alex and said, "Alex, before you leave, I need to explain something. I just pushed her to stop her from hurting Scarlett any further! Who knew your lady would fall into the water!"
Katherine frowned. Was Bernard implying that sheshe fell into the water on purpose to play the victim?
Scarlett seemed to be the one pretending! They really had a family bias!
Alex looked at Bernard coldly, narrowing his eyes in displeasure. "That's no excuse for being rough with a woman!"
Bernard didn't rush to argue and said, "Alex, what do you know? She just forced my sister to kneel and kicked her away! If I hadn't seen it and stopped her, she might have stepped on Scarlett a few more times!"
Alex paused, looked at the pale-faced Scarlett, and frowned slightly. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Scarlett, leaning against Bernard, shivered in fear and shook her head. "Alex, I'm fine. Don't blame Katherine; it's my fault; I made her angry."
Alex frowned, looked down at the drenched Katherine in his arms, and asked her in a deep voice, "What's going on?"
Katherine was stunned for a moment, then calmly jumped out of his arms. "There's no surveillance here, so whatever I say is useless! But I won't let anyone frame me for something I didn't do. If you don't believe me, go ahead and call the police!"
With that, she walked towards the villa. She just wanted to get inside and warm up!
No kidding! Falling into the water and then being exposed to the cold wind would make her sick, and she wouldn't joke about her health!
As for Alex, if he didn't trust her, so be it. It didn't matter!
