Chapter 946 Thay Are Awake
When Katherine woke up, she was already in the hospital.
The first thing she saw was the glaring lights, and she broke out in a cold sweat, "Charles!"
In the blurry vision, someone was gently rubbing her head, whispering in a deep voice by her ear, "Calm down; everything is okay now."
Katherine's ragged breathing finally calmed down a bit, and her vision gradually cleared. She saw the people around her.
There were Ambrosia, Frank, and Teresa, as well as Bernard, Sunny, and Edwin.
They all looked at her with eyes full of pity and worry.
And the one who was gently holding her and comforting her was Alex.
"Where's Charles?" Katherine sat up in Alex's arms, still shaken, with red-rimmed eyes, and asked.
Alex looked at her gently and said, "He's fine, he's already awake. The doctors have saved him, don't worry."
Katherine couldn't believe it. She feared Alex was lying to her to calm her down. "Where is Charles? I want to see him!"
Saying this, she tried to get out of bed to find Charles!
Alex didn't stop her but followed her closely, carefully supporting her, afraid she might fall in her haste.
"Don't rush, put on your shoes first!" Alex held her hand, not letting her run out, and bent down to hand her the hospital slippers.
Katherine was in a hurry and didn't care about much, but Alex wouldn't let her go without shoes, so she quickly put them on. "Where is Charles? Take me to see him quickly!"
Alex held her hand, "I'll take you, don't worry. He's in the children's ward, with Grandpa, Grandma, and Fiona."
Katherine nodded and obediently followed Alex out of the room.
After Katherine left, the others stayed in the room.
Sunny's eyes were full of admiration, and he sighed, "I really admire Katherine. Charles has no blood relation with her, but she still gets so anxious for him. Scarlett, however..."
Bernard didn't speak. Their people didn't find Scarlett on the mountain but caught Orion, whom Cinda from the fast-food restaurant mentioned. After police interrogation, it was basically confirmed that Scarlett orchestrated Charles's kidnapping.
No one knew where Scarlett had run off to. They searched the entire Lonely Crag but couldn't find her.
"Dad, are you okay?"
Sunny suddenly noticed that Edwin, standing aside, didn't look well and reached out to support him, asking.
Edwin had woken up in the middle of the night to find them not at home, sensed something was wrong, and called to ask what had happened. Sunny had let it slip.
Worried about Katherine, Edwin insisted on coming to the hospital, and no amount of persuasion could stop him.
However, Edwin's health hadn't fully recovered, and this ordeal made him look pale.
"Dad, if it's not okay, I'll have someone take you home now? Katherine is awake, and nothing will happen! You should go back and rest!"
Edwin waved his hand, "I'm fine, Sunny, help me sit over there."
Sunny had no choice but to help Edwin sit down.
Charles's Ward.
When Alex led Katherine into the ward, Charles was sitting on the bed, eating an apple Fiona had peeled for him.
Jackie and Sandra's worried expressions relaxed when they saw Katherine come in.
"Katherine is awake too!"
"That's good!"
Katherine just nodded towards the two elders, then let go of Alex's hand, quickly walked to the bedside, and looked at the living Charles, tears streaming down her face.
He was really okay.
Charles saw Katherine and immediately lost interest in the apple. He dropped it, opened his arms, and threw himself into Katherine's embrace, "Mommy, I thought I'd never see you again."
Katherine held the lost-and-found Charles, "Mommy's here! I'll never lose you again!"
"Mommy."
Seeing this scene, everyone couldn't help but get teary-eyed.
Alex frowned slightly, his long eyes filled with deep emotion, and a hint of redness in them.
He turned his head and asked Fiona, "Why are you here too? Didn't I ask you to stay home with the other three kids?"
Fiona wiped her tears and said, "Don't worry! There are enough people at home to protect them. I also had Nathan come over to help with George, Edith, and Julian. I was really worried about Charles, so I came with Grandpa and Grandma to see him. I'll go back home in a while!"
Alex nodded, "In a while, take Grandpa and Grandma home to rest too. We can handle things here."
Sandra immediately said, "Alex, we're fine! Even if you send us home, we won't be able to sleep. It's better to stay here with Charles! Besides, Katherine's health isn't good enough for her to be stressed. Let us help you share the burden, it's okay!"
Alex said, "Grandma, you and Grandpa need to take care of your health. If something happens to you, we really won't be able to manage. Go home, Charles is fine, he just has some minor injuries and was scared. He can be discharged by tomorrow morning."
Hearing this, Sandra didn't want to worry Alex further. She thought for a moment and nodded, "Alright, we'll go back with Fiona then! Alex, you must take good care of Katherine. She's suffered a lot waiting for you these years!"
"I will."
After staying with them for another ten minutes, Alex arranged for someone to take Fiona, Jackie, and Sandra home.
After the elders and Fiona left, the ward became quieter.
Katherine sat by the bed, feeding Charles porridge. Looking at the injuries on Charles's face and body, she felt both angry and determined. She must find Scarlett!
If she found Scarlett, she would make her pay a thousandfold!
Charles was only five years old. How could Scarlett do this to him?
"Mommy, I'm full, I can't eat anymore!" Charles shook his head, refusing the last spoonful of porridge Katherine offered.
Katherine nodded, ate the porridge herself, put down the bowl, and reached out to rub Charles's face, "If you're full, then don't eat. Are you sleepy? Want to sleep a bit more?"
Charles shook his head again, his eyes full of fear, "Not sleepy, I don't want to sleep."
Katherine frowned. She had raised Charles herself and could tell if he was sleepy.
Charles's eyes were clearly tired, but he stubbornly shook his head, saying he wasn't sleepy, and clung tightly to Katherine's clothes, afraid they would be separated again.
Seeing through this, Katherine felt even more heartbroken, "Okay, if you're not sleepy, Mommy will chat with you for a while."
