Chapter 96 Not Wanting to Be Bullied by Alex
Alex stared straight ahead with a stern face, not looking at her at all, and said impatiently, "Get out of the car and sit in the back!"
Katherine felt very angry. She hadn't said anything offensive, so why was he so mad? He was so unpredictable!
If she couldn't provoke him, she could at least avoid him.
Fine, she'd get out of the car. Sitting in the back would be more comfortable anyway. She wouldn't have to look at his face!
Katherine unbuckled her seatbelt and reached to open the car door. Before leaving, she couldn't help but glare at him. That glare made her suddenly notice the veins bulging on his tightly gripped hands on the steering wheel as if he was trying hard to suppress something.
She frowned and tentatively asked, "Alex, are you feeling unwell?"
He didn't answer, but his tone grew harsher. "Get out of the car immediately!"
Katherine started to feel that something was wrong. She pulled the door back and closed it, then turned to look at Alex seriously and said, "Alex, if you're not feeling well, you shouldn't be driving. I can take over."
Suddenly, Alex turned to look at her. His eyes were like those of a hungry eagle, with an unusual redness in them.
Katherine was stunned, then said, "Alex, what's going on with you?"
Before she could finish her sentence, he grabbed her by the collar and pulled her over. His slender and firm hand cupped her head as he kissed her fiercely!
Katherine was shocked, her eyes wide open, and she pushed him hard.
What was he doing? Was he crazy? The car was still in the middle of the road!
Their lips and teeth intertwined, and he seemed insatiable, deepening the kiss as if possessed.
Katherine was furious and bit him hard!
The pain brought Alex back to his senses a bit. He stopped, using the last bit of his rationality to let her go. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb, breathing heavily. Alex warned, "If you don't want me to lose control and bully you, sit in the back quietly!"
His face, body temperature, and state were all abnormal!
Katherine realized something and didn't have time to be angry about the forced kiss. She frowned and then inquired, "Alex, what did you eat tonight?"
Suppressing his raging desire, Alex squinted at her, then retorted, "What do you think?"
Katherine thought of something and then asked, "Did you go to Lunar Haven to see Sherry tonight?"
When the hotel was mentioned, even the nearly delirious Alex showed a hint of anger in his eyes and sarcastically said, "Wasn't it Ms. Galatea who invited me, saying she wanted to cook for me as an apology?"
Katherine rubbed her forehead, understanding now. Sherry must have drugged him. It was taking effect now!
Sherry was always trying to latch onto powerful men, using any means necessary!
But what was puzzling was that Alex didn't like Sherry and wasn't someone who would let his guard down easily. How did he end up eating something Sherry made in the hotel suite?
Katherine didn't know that it was because Alex thought she had made it, so he was willing to try it.
Katherine felt his pulse and looked up, then asked, "Tell me, what exactly did you eat?"
The priority now was to find the cause and solve the problem!
Alex noticed that she seemed to really know some medical knowledge, but looking at her delicate face, another wave of heat surged in his chest.
He turned his face away coldly and said in a hoarse voice, "It should be some kind of mushroom."
That matched up!
It was Lover's Mushroom, a rather obscure ingredient.
Katherine had read in a book that Lover's Mushroom could make a man uncontrollably aroused, with very strong effects.
The trouble was there was no antidote for it. Only by making love could it be neutralized.
Having concluded, Katherine immediately let go of his wrist to avoid stimulating his desire through physical contact and concluded. "Uh... Alex, you seem to be poisoned by that kind of mushroom. It's taking effect now."
Alex endured the turmoil within him and responded heavily, having already guessed the situation.
Katherine looked at him sympathetically and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Can you still drive? How about I take over?"
"No need." Alex restarted the car and gripped the steering wheel. "Why aren't you sitting in the back yet!"
Katherine understood the reason behind his sudden demand for her to get out of the car and didn't feel upset anymore.
However, she didn't open the door to get out because it was raining too heavily outside. Instead, she climbed from the passenger seat to the back seat.
As soon as she settled in the back, the man raised the partition between the front and back seats, isolating them into two separate spaces.
Even though they were still in the same car, separated by a thin partition, they could still hear each other's breathing.
Katherine felt very conflicted. She knew clearly that the man in front was trying hard to suppress something, and she couldn't just pretend nothing was happening.
The rain was getting heavier, and the road was too flooded to drive safely. Alex went to a motel in the suburbs.
The receptionist told them there was only one room left.
This was quite awkward.
Normally, Katherine wouldn't be afraid of sharing a room with Alex. They had done it before at the Melville Manor, with one sleeping on the bed and the other on the couch, not disturbing each other.
But today, Alex had ingested something, and a primal male urge was driving him if he lost control.
While Katherine was hesitating, Alex said, "One room is fine."
She looked at him in shock, full of caution.
Alex didn't look good, but he showed no expression. He took the room key from the receptionist and pulled her towards the elevator.
The enclosed space in the elevator made Katherine stay on high alert. The man's heavy breathing was particularly clear, signaling danger.
She turned her head to observe him, only to find Alex staring at her like a predator.
Their eyes met, and she knew what he was enduring. Alex knew what she was guarding against. Their thoughts were transparent to each other.
Katherine blinked uncomfortably and looked away first.
As soon as they entered the room, he went straight into the bathroom and slammed the door shut!
Katherine finally breathed a little easier and sat down to calm herself and think of a solution.
In the car, she had only told Alex that he was poisoned by that kind of mushroom, not daring to mention the most critical point!
If she remembered correctly, the book stated, ‘If the desire induced by Lover's Mushroom is not fully released on the same day, it will have severe aftereffects. Depending on the amount consumed, it could range from partial paralysis to death from full-body congestion.’
She had no idea how much Alex had eaten.
Sherry was truly ruthless!
If Sherry had just bought some adult aphrodisiacs, Alex could have endured it and gotten through. But she had thought of using Lover's Mushroom, forcing Alex into a corner where he had to have sex to save himself, thus clinging onto him.
However, Sherry hadn't calculated that Alex would leave the hotel before the effects kicked in and escape her trap by going to the suburbs.
Katherine needed to quickly search online for obscure remedies to help Alex detoxify. She instinctively reached into her pocket, only to remember that the kidnappers had thrown away her phone. Fortunately, she was wearing Alex's coat, and his phone was in the pocket.
She used Alex's phone to search for some information online but found nothing useful.
Feeling frustrated, she accidentally opened his contacts. A sudden idea struck her, and she immediately found Sunny's number and called.
