Chapter 476 Who Am I to You?
Alex's rough hand grabbed her chin. "Who am I to you?"
Katherine stayed quiet.
Alex's voice got sharper. "Answer me! Who am I to you?"
Katherine mumbled, "You're my boyfriend."
Alex's jaw tightened, and he smirked darkly. "We have a kid, and I'm just your boyfriend?"
Katherine frowned, struggling to define it.
Alex pulled her closer and bit her ear. "You don't call me that in bed, Katherine."
It didn't hurt, but Katherine blushed and tried to push him away. "Alex, what are you doing?"
Alex held her hand against his chest, stopping her. He stared into her eyes. "You think I'd blame you and make you pay for a little trouble? You still see me as an outsider, but I don't."
Katherine was stunned. "I just don't like causing trouble for others..."
"Others!" Alex sneered. "To you, I'm either an outsider or just someone else!"
Katherine felt he was being unreasonable. Ever since she and Teresa went upstairs at the Harris family, his attitude had been off.
"Alex, what's your deal with me?" ?"
Alex raised an eyebrow coldly. "Am I the one upset? Or are you the one not taking me seriously?"
Katherine frowned. "How am I not taking you seriously?"
Alex seemed to be holding back his frustration. He rolled down the car window, looked outside, and took a deep breath.
If Katherine wasn't pregnant, he might've lit a cigarette to calm down.
After a long silence, Alex snorted. "Didn't you tell Teresa upstairs to be flexible in relationships?"
Katherine was surprised. How did he hear that?
She remembered seeing his back as he went downstairs when she left Teresa's room.
He must've come upstairs to find her, heard what she said to Teresa, and started overthinking.
Before Katherine could speak, he continued sarcastically.
"That's right, Ms. Galatea, you're flexible. Last time, you left without a word, and now you plan to leave again when you get tired of me?"
Katherine smirked. "I didn't..."
Seeing him sulking over her casual remark made her want to laugh. His childish sulking didn't match his mature demeanor, and the contrast was oddly cute.
Alex snorted. "You didn't? Then why call me your boyfriend? Isn't a boyfriend someone you can dump anytime?"
Katherine frowned. She was also annoyed earlier and snorted. "Alex, what right do you have to say that? Didn't you give your contact info to another girl today?"
Alex paused, looked at her with a subtle expression, and handed her his phone. "Look, who did I give my contact info to!"
Since he handed it over himself, she might as well look!
Katherine confidently unlocked his phone.
Sure enough, there was a new friend on Alex's social media. The person had sent him a bunch of pictures and a link, but he hadn't replied.
Katherine looked at the pictures and the ad link, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Alex said coldly, "See? That person is Teresa's classmate. She works at a high-end postpartum care center. She heard from Teresa that you're pregnant and asked if we wanted to book their services. She sent me pictures of their facilities. I thought it might be useful when you give birth, so I agreed."
Katherine stayed silent.
Alex continued, clearly annoyed. "Even though it's early, I don't know much about childbirth. Is it wrong for me to want to learn in advance?"
Katherine stayed quiet, fiddling with her fingers. How was she supposed to know that girl was just trying to get clients?
Seeing her like this, Alex frowned, reached over, and lifted her chin. "Just because of this? You ignored me and sat with another man?"
Katherine pouted. "I thought..."
Alex snorted angrily. "You thought I was secretly messing around with another girl? Hmm?"
Katherine didn't deny it. "Anyone would misunderstand in that situation! I'll be more careful next time. I'm sorry. I got it wrong this time!"
Hearing her apologize, Alex didn't feel any better. He cupped her face. "I don't want you to apologize. I want you to remember that if you see me doing something that upsets you, come and ask me. Don't jump to conclusions!"
Katherine nodded. "Okay."
Seeing her admit her mistake so obediently, Alex's heart softened. He gently stroked her cheek, speaking like a parent praising a child. "Hmm, there's something worth praising today. You remembered not to drink anything given by another man. That's commendable."
He was talking about the juice Jonathan gave her, which she didn't drink.
Katherine pouted. "I just didn't feel like drinking it."
Alex knew she was being stubborn again and pretended to frown. "Being stubborn again? Hmm?"
Katherine smiled and didn't respond.
She thought, since Alex was being so honest today and said to ask him directly if something upset her, she might as well take this chance to ask.
"Why don't you want to get a marriage license with me?"
Alex's expression darkened. After a few seconds, he said, "I want to get a marriage license with you."
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "You want to? Then why do you keep avoiding it?"
Alex looked at her, hesitated, and after a long pause, he still didn't explain. He just said, "Katherine, give me some time on this. Can you wait for me?"
Katherine could tell he had a reason he couldn't explain. Although she still cared, she didn't want to push him, so she didn't press further. "Okay."
