Chapter 571 Complaining to Her Brother
'Is Sunny having trouble understanding things?' Ambrosia wondered.
"I don't need you tagging along," she said.
Sunny, totally baffled, shot back, "Women are so stubborn. Just a sec ago, you were worried I'd catch a cold and threw a blanket on me!"
Ignoring him, Ambrosia made a beeline for Frank's office.
It was weird that the secretary's desk outside Frank's office was empty. Before going in, she turned around and snapped at Sunny, "Wait here. Don't follow me in!"
Sunny pouted. "Why? Why are you seeing Frank again?"
Ambrosia replied, "I'm working. This is the office. Frank's my business partner and colleague! And you don't work here, so you can't come in and talk shop with me."
Seeing her serious face, Sunny grumbled, "Alright, alright! I won't mess with your work. Go ahead. I'll wait out here."
After giving him a cold stare, Ambrosia knocked and walked into Frank's office.
Sunny waited outside, feeling like a dog left outside a store, occasionally pressing his ear to the door to catch any sounds.
"Sunny?"
Hearing his name, Sunny snapped back and saw Teresa standing there with a coffee, looking surprised. "It really is you, Sunny! What are you doing here?"
Sunny was just as surprised. "I was gonna ask you the same thing. What are you doing here?"
Teresa walked to her desk and sat down. "I work here."
Sunny's eyes widened. "What? You work here? Weren't you at the Melville Group?"
"Yeah, but it was boring, so I switched to here," Teresa said.
Suddenly, Sunny had an idea. "Is your company hiring part-timers? Can I join?"
Teresa looked puzzled. "You wanna join our company? Why not go to the Mitchell Group?"
Sunny pouted. "Working at the Mitchell Group sucks. My brother's always on my case! I wanna find a job on my own, like you!"
Teresa was skeptical. "Our company probably doesn't hire high school kids who haven't graduated yet."
Sunny frowned. "I'm about to graduate!"
"Well, we don't hire part-timers either!" Teresa said.
"Then how did you get in?"
Teresa rolled her eyes. "I'm not like you! I graduated, sent in my resume, and got hired the normal way!"
Sunny retorted, "So what if you're a college grad!"
Teresa sighed. "I'm not gonna argue with you! You still haven't told me why you're here, and why you were sneakily pressing your face against Mr. Perez's door!"
Sunny felt awkward and cleared his throat. "Who's eavesdropping! My girlfriend's in there, and I'm worried about her!"
Teresa was shocked. "What? You have a girlfriend?"
Sunny replied, "Why, is it so weird that I have a girlfriend?"
Teresa couldn't help but laugh, waving her hand. "It's too weird! How could any girl wanna date a childish guy like you?"
Sunny said, annoyed, "You're the childish one!"
They had no clue the door to Frank's office wasn't as soundproof as they thought, and their convo was totally heard inside.
Ambrosia sat across from Frank's desk, feeling a headache coming on.
Frank, on the other hand, was grinning like a Cheshire cat. "What's up? Why the long face? Is dating a minor that bad?"
Ambrosia rolled her eyes. "Do you really think I wanna date a minor?"
Frank rested his chin on his hand. "Whether you want to or not, you did sleep with him!"
Ambrosia sighed. "One wrong move and now I'm stuck. Got any ideas on how to ditch him?"
Frank raised an eyebrow. "I do, but why rush? There aren't many boys as innocent as Sunny. Why not keep him around a bit longer?"
"Get lost, and think of a way to help me get rid of him!"
"That's easy! Just call Bernard and tell him Sunny's bugging you here. Bernard will send someone over," Frank said.
Ambrosia had thought of this too but hesitated, worried Bernard might rough Sunny up when he gets back. After all, Sunny's behavior wasn't exactly one-sided harassment.
Seeing her silence, Frank said meaningfully, "Worried Sunny will get a beating when he gets home?"
Ambrosia snapped out of it and frowned. "He'll only learn if he gets a beating. Let Bernard teach him a lesson!"
Saying this, she pulled out her phone and called Bernard.
After she hung up, Frank said, "You really made that call."
Ambrosia shot him a disdainful look and adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "Say less! So, did you call Katherine?"
At the mention of Katherine, Frank's face grew serious. "I did, but no one answered."
"No one answered?" Ambrosia found it odd and checked the time on her phone. "Katherine should definitely be up by now!"
Frank was also worried. "You give it a try. I think Mr. Melville might have blocked my number!"
Ambrosia dialed Katherine's number, but no one picked up.
Frank and Ambrosia exchanged worried glances.
"Katherine didn't reply to my message. That's not like her," Ambrosia said.
"Yesterday, we told Katherine about Alex getting hitched to another woman abroad. Do you think Alex found out and is trying to cut off our contact with Katherine?" Frank said.
"Possibly! But we can't just keep trying to call her. Should we go to the Melville family to find Katherine?"
"If Alex is really guarding against us, we might not even get into the Melville family."
Meanwhile, outside the office...
Sunny and Teresa were still having a not-so-friendly chat.
"Sunny, you said your girlfriend is in Mr. Perez's office. What's she doing there?" Teresa asked, wondering if Frank had also messed around with Sunny's girlfriend.
Sunny replied, "No clue, maybe she's got something to boss Mr. Perez around with."
Teresa was stunned. "Boss him around? What makes your girlfriend think she can boss Mr. Perez around?"
Sunny proudly pointed to an office nearby. "Her office is right over there. Think she has the qualifications now?"
