Chapter 973 Not Just for You
Christina struggled and thought of Bernard. She regretted it so much. If she hadn't lied during that phone call, maybe Bernard would have come to save her!
In the midst of her struggle, Christina suddenly felt her body heat up, and her vision gradually became blurry. She shook her head vigorously, "What's in this drink?"
"Feeling a bit warm, are we? Don't worry, you'll be enjoying yourself soon enough," Hudson said with a triumphant grin as he moved closer to her.
Christina, dragging her weakened body, took steps backward. What should she do? Who could save her now?
On the other side, Bernard returned to Easton's private room and downed two glasses of wine, but he remained distracted. Thinking about how Christina had toasted that man earlier, he felt inexplicably irritated.
At that moment, Billy's call came in, "Mr. Mitchell, I've investigated everything from that day. It is indeed as Ms. Russell said; her sister set her up to sleep with an entertainment industry investor. Ms. Russell ended up in the wrong room because she was drunk, and no one was behind her approaching you."
After hanging up the phone, Bernard remembered the two hundred dollars Christina had thrown at him that day.
Suddenly, Bernard stood up and walked out!
Easton was startled by his actions, "Bernard, where are you going?"
"To smoke!" Bernard replied without looking back.
"Smoking again? Didn't you just smoke?"
Bernard quickly walked back to the private room where he had just seen Christina and kicked the door open!
Just before Christina lost consciousness, she seemed to see Bernard's figure.
She must be too desperate, hallucinating. How could Bernard come? He didn't even know she was here!
"No! No! Don't touch me!" Waking up with a shout, Christina sat up abruptly and found herself in a spacious and bright room.
Looking around, it seemed to be a hotel room. The bathroom light was on, and the sound of running water indicated someone was showering inside!
Christina couldn't help but think of Hudson, who had ill intentions towards her. After drinking last night, she felt hot all over, and when Hudson tried to pounce on her, she had no strength to resist.
Could it be that she ended up having sex with that disgusting old man?
Thinking of this, Christina couldn't help but feel nauseous.
She needed to leave immediately; she didn't want to face that repulsive man!
Christina wrapped herself in a blanket and got out of bed, searching for her clothes but finding nothing, not even a shred of fabric.
Where were her clothes?
Christina saw a neatly folded set of men's clothes on the nearby cabinet.
Did that sleazy man have such good taste in clothes? The size didn't seem to fit either?
Without thinking much, she grabbed a shirt and put it on. It was better than being naked!
After putting on the shirt, Christina found her bag and phone, ready to leave in a hurry. She felt dirty and was filled with anger; all she wanted was to get out and confront Jared and Renee.
Just as she reached the door, the bathroom door opened, "What? You wake up and want to run?"
The familiar voice made Christina stop in her tracks. She turned around and saw Bernard, shirtless.
Christina screamed and awkwardly covered her eyes, "Why are you here?"
"Who did you expect to be here?" Bernard looked at her clothes, squinting his eyes, staring at her slender legs under his white shirt.
Bernard frowned slightly, his Adam's apple moving involuntarily.
Noticing Bernard looking at her attire, Christina felt uncomfortable and awkwardly moved to the side, grabbing a blanket to cover her legs, "Well, I couldn't find my clothes, so I just grabbed something to wear. So, is this your shirt?"
"Who else would it belong to, Ms. Russell?" Bernard sat down on the sofa, "Hudson?"
Christina was a bit surprised, "How do you know Hudson?"
"Ms. Russell, I don't have many demands of you, but during our agreement, you absolutely cannot disgrace the Mitchell family."
Christina lowered her head, "I'm sorry. But this won't happen again. Um, did you save me yesterday? Did we..."
She remembered there was something wrong with that drink last night. If Bernard saved her, then did they...
Thinking of this, Christina lowered her head, unable to look Bernard in the eye.
Even though she didn't want anything to happen with Bernard, compared to the disgusting Hudson, she would rather it be Bernard.
"Wishful thinking!" Bernard's brief words carried a hint of mockery.
Christina suddenly looked up, "Nothing happened between us, and... Hudson didn't do anything to me, right?"
Bernard picked up the coffee on the table and took a sip, "No, even though you're only my wife in name, I won't let anyone bully you easily."
Hearing this, Christina let out a long sigh of relief!
Nothing happened last night, whether with Hudson or Bernard. She didn't want anything to happen while she was in a daze.
This was the best outcome!
"Oh, thank you for saving me." Christina sincerely thanked Bernard. Without him, she wouldn't have escaped.
She didn't know how she would cope or what she could believe in to keep going if she woke up today and found out that Hudson had violated her.
If Bernard hadn't intervened, today would have been a completely different scene.
"No need to thank me. I didn't save you just for you."
Bernard put down the coffee, crossed his legs, and looked at Christina seriously, "I think you haven't forgotten that you are now Mrs. Mitchell of the Mitchell family, my wife, right?"
"Of course, I haven't forgotten." Seeing Bernard's gaze, Christina felt a bit uneasy and sat up straight, "I'm sorry, I had some special circumstances yesterday and went to meet Hudson. It's not what you think."
Bernard looked at her indifferently, "If someone exposes that my wife had sex with someone else, it would be a huge scandal for the Mitchell family. Also, Ms. Russell, our cooperation lasts for a year. During this year, you cannot have any relations with other men. Please be mindful."
This was the most Christina had heard Bernard say since she met him.
She didn't react for a moment, then quickly waved her hand, "It's not what you think. I can explain everything."
Christina, feeling emotional, stood up abruptly, eager to prove her innocence. In her movements, her slender legs were exposed again.
