Chapter 401 Douchebag Biological Father

"Sir, there's a situation!"

Sunny, busy with homework, heard his attendant, Furry, burst in, breaking his concentration. He snapped, "What's up, Furry? If you keep startling me, I'll punch you!"

Furry looked innocent. "Sir, it's serious! There's a guest downstairs, and your grandparents are being super nice to her!"

Sunny got more irritated. "So what? We get guests all the time. Usually, they're just old friends. What's the big deal?"

Furry shook his head. "No, this time it's different. It's a young girl you know!"

Sunny frowned. "A young girl I know? Who is it, Furry? Just spit it out!"

Furry said, "It's Katherine, the one you always had trouble with!"

Sunny dropped his pen, surprised. "Katherine?!"

Furry nodded. "Yeah, it's Katherine! Isn't it weird? Our families have been at odds for years. Why are they treating her like a benefactor?"

Sunny didn't hear the rest; he was already fuming. "Katherine's here? Where is she? I need to settle this!"

Furry replied, "Mr. Vincent Mitchell just took her to the garden! Sir, what do you need to settle with Katherine?"

Sunny rolled up his sleeves. "Don't worry about it! Finish my homework; I have something to handle!"

Furry looked worried. "I can't do your homework. If Mr. Bernard Mitchell finds out, he'll kick me out!"

Sunny dismissed him. "Just do it! If we don't tell, how will Bernard know? Hurry up!"

Furry regretted coming to inform Sunny in the first place.

The Mitchell family's garden was vast, filled with well-tended flowers and plants. Vincent, leaning on a cane and supported by a servant, was happily showing Katherine the flowers he and his wife, Hellen, had planted.

Katherine listened to Vincent while looking around. Strangely, she had no memories of the place. She should remember it since she was five when her mother took her away, but she didn't.

They came upon a unique sea of gray-blue flowers. Katherine had never seen them before and was about to ask Vincent when she noticed he looked unwell. "Sir, are you okay?"

Vincent stopped and held his head. "It's nothing. I'm just so happy you came that I forgot my blood pressure medication this morning!"

The servant panicked. "Mr. Vincent Mitchell, you can't forget your medication! Let's get you back to take it right now!"

Vincent didn't want to leave Katherine in the middle of the tour, but he knew he had to take his medication.

Katherine noticed his hesitation and said, "It's okay, sir. You take your medicine. I'll explore a bit and find you later."

Vincent nodded. "Alright, Katherine. If you get tired, come find me."

The servant helped Vincent onto an electric cart and rushed him back for his medication.

Once they left, Katherine turned her attention back to the unique sea of flowers. She hadn't had a chance to ask Vincent about them.

She walked up to the flowers and bent down to smell them, noticing their fragrance mixed with a strange, sour smell.

Beautiful flowers, but they smelled bad?

As she pondered this, a tall, middle-aged man suddenly emerged from the flowers, startling her!

The man stood up, his hands dirty with mud.

Katherine instinctively stepped back, surprised.

The man smiled. "Sorry to scare you. I was just fertilizing the flowers."

He walked out of the flowers and washed his hands at a nearby faucet. "Are you today's guest?"

Katherine nodded. "Mr. Mitchell, hello. Sorry to bother you."

Edwin, after washing his hands, looked at her with some surprise. "You know who I am?"

He was dressed like a gardener and hadn't introduced himself. How did she know?

Katherine said calmly, "I saw you once at Mr. Ayers' birthday banquet. It wasn't long ago, so I remember."

Edwin's sharp eyes softened. "I remember you too."

"Really?" Katherine was surprised.

They had only brushed past each other that day. How could he remember?

Edwin smiled. "You look a lot like my daughter, so you left a strong impression."

He said she looked like his daughter!

Katherine tensed up but quickly calmed down, realizing he meant Scarlett, as it wasn't surprising they looked alike, sharing the same father.

Edwin sat on a nearby bench, opened a thermos, took a sip of water, and looked her over. "So you're my father's savior. I've heard about your heroic deed."

Katherine shrugged. "I'm not really a savior. I just helped a bit. I came today because Mr. Vincent Mitchell was so enthusiastic about his invitation. I didn't want to disappoint him."

Edwin nodded. "Young people these days are quite humble and sensible."

Katherine didn't want to keep talking to this man who had betrayed her mother. She turned and asked, "Sir, what are these flowers?"

Edwin looked at the sea of flowers, his voice softening. "Moonlight."
