Chapter 206 Be Good, I Will Take You Out!
Alex looked down at Joshua's shifting demeanor, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
A man like this, worthy of being called a father?!
In what kind of family environment did Katherine grow up?
Alex narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "Mr. Galatea, first, you need to prove yourself worthy of my wife calling you 'father' before I can respectfully address you as 'father-in-law.' From what I see, you seem to be failing as a father, so in my eyes, you're hardly deserving of respect."
Joshua felt immense pressure and guilt, but he still tried to defend himself. However, when he met Alex's icy gaze, an unprecedented fear gripped him, and his words faltered.
Alex's demeanor towards him had completely shifted!
Initially, this exceptionally handsome and imposing young man had shown some respect and courtesy as an elder.
But now, all Joshua could see was an abyss of coldness and a clear warning of danger.
At this moment, Joshua finally understood that he was like an ant in front of Alex.
He understood that the only reason he received any respect from Mr. Melville was because of Katherine. Without her, he wouldn't even be allowed into the Melville family!
As for Sherry, there was no way she could replace Katherine as Mrs. Melville. Mr. Melville didn't care about Sherry at all.
Despite his age, Joshua didn't want to lose face by groveling to Mr. Melville, but he also didn't want to sever his ties with the influential Melville family!
So, Joshua put on a fatherly smile and looked cheerfully at Katherine, explaining kindly, "Katherine, don't get me wrong. I had a bit to drink before coming here today. I was drunk and said some foolish things to you! Actually, I was upset because you hadn't come home for a while and didn't tell me about your marriage. I was really worried about you! So, when I heard you were at the Melville family, I rushed here to see you! Please talk to Alex. You can't let him kick me out!"
Katherine, still in Alex's embrace, turned her head slowly to look at the familiar yet unfamiliar middle-aged man, smiling. "Mr. Galatea, you've been a good father to Sherry, not to me. You came here today for your precious daughter Sherry, not to see me."
Joshua's smile froze, silently cursing his ungrateful younger daughter, but with Mr. Melville's presence, he had to maintain an even broader smile. "Katherine, it was a misunderstanding! Come on, don't be angry with Daddy. What's so hard to get over between father and daughter?"
Katherine smirked, her eyes filled with sarcastic amusement.
She suddenly felt a bit relieved. Thankfully, such a spineless and unprincipled man was not her biological father, otherwise, she might have despised the genes she inherited.
Ignoring Joshua, Katherine raised her eyebrows and said to Anton, who was standing not far away, "Anton, remember their faces? If they return, don't be polite."
"Yes, Mrs. Melville!" he responded.
Anton respectfully bowed, then signaled a few idle servants to escort Joshua out to reunite with his family.
Finding no benefit, Joshua became angry, revealing his true nature!
As the servants dragged him out, Joshua gritted his teeth and shouted, "Katherine! You... you ungrateful daughter, how dare you treat your father like this? Be careful of curses; you will face consequences!"
Alex's eyes turned cold, unable to tolerate anyone cursing Katherine in his presence. He signaled Anton to give him a harsh lesson before letting him go.
Anton understood Mr. Melville's intention and turned to instruct the staff.
With the unwanted guests cleared out, Katherine felt refreshed. She pushed against Alex's chest. "Alex, can you let go of me now?"
He looked down at her, not releasing his embrace, but tightening it instead. "Let you go so you can pack your bags and leave me?"
Katherine frowned at him and explained, "Didn't you notice my suitcase was very light? There was nothing in it. I didn't pack anything. I was just pretending!"
Alex had noticed the unusual weight of the suitcase but was still a bit displeased, his eyes showing some sternness. "Someone came to our home to bully you. Why didn't you call me?"
Katherine said indifferently, "You were working. I didn't want to disturb you! Besides, they are not worth you skipping work to deal with! Actually, I could have driven them away myself, but it wouldn't have been convincing. I could only solve the problem temporarily. They would come back. I know them too well. If you don't show up, they won't believe me and won't give up! So, I pretended to agree to pack my bags, stalling them until you came home to handle it!"
Alex looked at her seriously, speaking in a slightly paternal tone, "Is that so? Then should I thank you for considering my work?"
Katherine grinned and answered, "You're welcome! I do know how to prioritize!"
He lightly patted her head in exasperation. "You don't! What priority? Remember, anything involving you comes first. You must call me immediately!"
Katherine was momentarily surprised, then obediently nodded. "Okay, I'll call you next time!"
After instructing the servants on handling the Galatea family, Anton returned. Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Melville embracing, He felt it was a beautiful sight and couldn't help but smile.
Mrs. Melville was simple and easygoing, not pretentious. At first, the servants had been skeptical of her and didn't take her seriously, but Mrs. Melville didn't mind.
Later, as everyone got to know her better, they all grew to like Mrs. Melville.
Imagine if that overly confident miss had married in. It would have been a nightmare for them!
Thinking of this, Anton cherished the lovely Mrs. Melville even more.
Anton said, "Mr. Melville, dinner is almost ready. Is there any dish you and Mrs. Melville would like to add?"
Alex glanced at the living room and dining room where the Galatea family had been, his eyebrows furrowing in disgust.
He answered, "No need, we'll dine out. Have the house thoroughly cleaned and disinfected."
Anton said, "Yes, Mr. Melville."
He understood that the Galatea family's presence had made the house unpleasant. Even if Mr. Melville hadn't said it, he would have ordered a thorough cleaning and disinfection.
Alex looked down at Katherine in his arms and said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll go upstairs to change, then we'll go out."
Katherine blinked curiously and asked, "Hmm? Where are we going?"
He ruffled her hair. "You'll know when we get there."
Katherine pouted, amused by his secrecy!
