Chapter 331 Consider Katherine a Confidante

Bernard glanced at her. "What do you want to say?"

Katherine stood up, her gaze steady. "Bernard, your way of teaching is seriously flawed."

Bernard chuckled. "We barely said hello before we parted ways, and now we're back here again. I haven't even asked why you're here with Sunny, and you're already criticizing me. So, you think you know a lot about education?"

Katherine didn't flinch at his sarcasm. "I don't know much, but I've experienced bad education firsthand. As a victim, I'm just trying to give you a heads-up so you won't regret it later."

Bernard pulled up a chair, resting his elbow on the armrest, his fingers lightly supporting his forehead. "What exactly are you trying to tell me? I'm listening."

Katherine raised an eyebrow, glancing at Sunny, who looked like a deer in headlights, then turned her sharp gaze back to Bernard. "I get that you want Sunny to succeed, but don't you think your methods are destroying his self-confidence? It's making him doubt himself more and more, even to the point of self-hatred."

Sunny looked up at Katherine, stunned. She understood his feelings all along? And she was standing up to Bernard for him?

Bernard squinted. "Go on."

Katherine continued, "He got hurt today trying to help a girl with an asthma attack. You should acknowledge his good intentions first, then teach him how to stay safe while helping others. Instead, you just dismissed everything he did without considering the context."

Bernard raised an eyebrow. "If someone wants acknowledgment, they need to be perfect and not expect others to lower their standards."

Katherine didn't challenge his harsh views directly. "Nobody's perfect, Bernard. Perfectionism is your issue, not Sunny's. You can demand perfection from yourself, but you can't force it on him, even if he's your brother. Everyone's an individual. Whether he has a bad personality or poor grades, it doesn't mean he can't have a good life. Sunny has a talent for esports. He could make a name for himself. Why not let him pursue what he loves while he's young? There's no single standard for excellence, and you don't have to be extraordinary to be happy. Some people don't need to meet others' standards of excellence to live a fulfilling life. As his guardian, don't you want Sunny to be happy?"

Sunny's eyes lit up, looking at Katherine in disbelief, deeply moved. She had voiced exactly what he was feeling! She truly understood him!

But Bernard showed no reaction, his elegant eyes slightly narrowed, as if he was listening, yet not really.

He stared at Katherine, his voice polite but cold. "Katherine, the kind of education you're talking about is for ordinary families, not the Mitchells. Sunny was born into this family and has responsibilities. It's not about what he wants."

Katherine hated Bernard's superiority complex. "We're all just people. No one is different from anyone else! The responsibilities you talk about might not be what he wants. No matter how grand you make it sound, it's still imposing your will on him! I used to think being born into a wealthy family meant no worries and the freedom to do what you love. But if you can't choose your own path, rich kids are just as miserable!"

Bernard's eyes turned cold, his face showing displeasure. "Are you done? If so, you can leave."

Katherine wasn't finished. She smirked. "If you really knew how to educate, why is your brother still so unsatisfactory to you? By denying him, you're denying your own methods. Isn't that a reflection of your failure?"

Bernard's brow furrowed, his face darkening, lips pressed in silence.

Katherine continued, "Sunny is truly afraid of you. Fear can make someone obey, but it won't bring real change. One day, when he no longer fears you, he'll just want to escape, not become what you want him to be. A Suppressive and controlling education is the most unsuccessful kind!"

Bernard glared at her, silent for a moment before speaking, his smile not reaching his eyes. "Well said. I guess I've learned something today! But Ms. Galatea, remember your place. The Mitchell family's matters don't need an outsider's input."

Katherine shrugged. "You're right. I did overstep, but I've said my piece! Now that you're here, I'll leave him to you. I have other matters to attend to."

Without waiting for a response, Katherine turned and walked away gracefully.

After a few steps, she stopped and turned back. "By the way, Sunny broke the hospital's glass door today. Bernard, make sure to take care of the damages before you leave."

Both Bernard and Sunny were silent.

Under their gaze, Katherine gently pushed open the door and walked out leisurely.

Sunny stared at the closed door, still somewhat shocked.

Every word Katherine said had resonated with him. She really knew how to express herself! He hadn't realized before how thoughtful Katherine was and had even caused her trouble many times because of his sister. Now he deeply regretted it!

"Why are you hanging out with Katherine again? Didn't I tell you to stay away from her?"

Bernard's stern questioning interrupted Sunny's thoughts.
