Chapter 424 Katherine, Stop Making Trouble
Bernard jumped up and grabbed his almost fainting brother. "Sunny! What's wrong?"
Sunny's face was ghostly pale, sweat dripping down, and he was in obvious pain. "Bernard, it hurts..."
"Where?"
"My stomach... it hurts so bad..."
Edwin and Alice rushed over to check on their son.
Edwin stayed calm. "Is it appendicitis? Someone get the family doctor!"
Alice, panicking, shook her half-conscious son. "Sunny! Sunny, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"
Katherine couldn't take it anymore and pushed Alice aside, checking Sunny's pulse. Her face darkened. "This isn't something the family doctor can handle! Alex, call an ambulance!"
Alex was already dialing 911.
Vincent was anxious. "What happened to Sunny? He was fine a minute ago."
Hellen was also worried. "Sunny..."
"The ambulance is coming. He'll be okay!"
Vincent and Hellen were scared, and the servants tried to calm them down.
The hospital was close, and the ambulance arrived quickly.
"Finn, take care of the grandparents!"
"Yes, sir! Don't worry!"
After giving orders, Bernard got into the ambulance with Sunny.
Edwin called for the family car, and he, Alice, and Scarlett followed the ambulance.
Vincent and Hellen, still in shock, were taken to their rooms by the servants to rest.
Katherine didn't say goodbye to the elderly couple, letting the servants handle it. She and Alex got into their car.
In the car, Alex glanced at her. "Worried?"
Katherine stayed silent.
Sunny's condition looked bad.
She thought the pomegranate juice Alice made was only harmful to women and fetuses, not boys.
Poor Sunny had no idea his 'good' mom and sister were behind this. He drank the juice willingly and got hurt.
Katherine was worried. Even if it were a stranger in danger before her, she couldn't remain indifferent.
Had she known the juice was harmful to boys, she wouldn't have let Sunny drink it.
Alex knew about Katherine's connection to the Mitchell family and understood her feelings.
Sunny had caused her some trouble, but it was just childish behavior. Katherine never held it against him.
She probably already saw Sunny as her brother.
Alex reached over and touched her head, comforting her. "If you're worried, let's go to the hospital and check on him."
Katherine nodded.
Alex hit the gas, following the ambulance.
In the ER, a doctor came out, removed his mask, and told the family, "The patient has acute gastric bleeding."
Alice panicked. "Gastric bleeding? How could this happen to my son?"
The doctor asked, "What did he eat today? We suspect food poisoning."
Alice glanced at Scarlett before replying, "He ate at home all day. Our food is clean, and we all ate the same thing. No one else is sick. It can't be food poisoning, right?"
The doctor said, "If only he is affected, it might be an allergic reaction."
Alice quickly agreed. "Yes, it must be an allergy! Please, save my son!"
Scarlett added, "Yes, please save my brother!"
The doctor continued, "He was brought in quickly, and he's out of immediate danger. But we need to find the cause of the bleeding to determine any lasting effects."
Alice was uneasy. "What kind of lasting effects?"
The doctor replied, "We need to run more tests to find the allergen. If we can't identify it, we can't predict the outcome."
He put his mask back on and started to return to the ER.
"Wait a moment!"
Katherine's voice echoed in the corridor, stopping the doctor.
Everyone turned to see Katherine walking down the hall with Alex behind her.
Alice and Scarlett frowned, sensing trouble.
Scarlett was especially annoyed seeing Katherine with Alex.
The doctor looked at Katherine. "Are you a family member?"
Katherine shook her head. "No, but I ate with the patient and might have clues about the cause."
The doctor nodded. "Go ahead. What clues?"
Before Katherine could speak, Scarlett interrupted, crying, "Katherine, Sunny is being treated! Don't cause trouble. Let the doctor go back!"
Katherine's eyes narrowed at Scarlett. "I'm here to help the doctor find the cause. How is that causing trouble?"
Scarlett stood between Katherine and the doctor, wiping her tears. "My mom already told the doctor everything. Don't waste their time. Let themgo back to the ER!"
