Chapter 154 Alex, Will You Divorce Katherine?

Katherine agreed to cooperate with the police on her own. Although Alex was still dissatisfied, he said nothing further and respected her decision.

So, Katherine's hands were cuffed by the police.

Additionally, the police stationed guards at her hospital room door, temporarily restricting her freedom.

However, due to Katherine's need for medical treatment, the police did not immediately interrogate her.

Out of humanitarian considerations, the police listened to the doctor's advice and agreed to let her rest before conducting a thorough interrogation.

Katherine ate the breakfast Alex broughther and then slept peacefully for a while.

In the afternoon, the police prepared to start questioning her.

According to protocol, no other personnel were allowed to be present during the investigation, so Alex was asked to leave the room.

He initially stood firm, making it difficult for the police.

It wasn't until Katherine asked him to leave that he reluctantly grabbed his coat from the sofa and walked out.

Alex stood at the door of the hospital room, quietly observing the situation inside through a small glass window.

"Alex." Scarlett's soft voice came from behind him.

At the same time, the girl's pale, delicate hand gently tugged at the cuff of his shirt, which was tucked into his pants.

Alex turned around and frowned slightly. "Why are you still here?"

Scarlett looked heartbroken and replied, "Alex, I don't understand why Katherine would want to harm me. I want to stay here and wait for an answer."

Alex looked at her with a complex expression in his eyes but said nothing.

Scarlett shivered and rubbed her arms, clearly feeling a bit cold.

Alex frowned slightly. "Are you cold?"

Scarlett naturally nodded. "A little."

With a hint of concern in his eyes, Alex said softly, "The temperature has dropped recently. Don't get sick. Go back to your room."

Scarlett hesitated, glancing at the coat draped over Alex's arm, but said nothing.

Alex didn't notice her subtle hint and turned back to continue watching the situation inside the room through the small glass window.

Inside the room, Katherine leaned against the headboard, her hands cuffed. She answered the police's questions honestly, sometimes nodding and shaking her head.

Katherine, who had never been so obedient in front of him, appeared particularly fragile during the interrogation.

Watching this, Alex felt frustrated but couldn't intervene. Katherine didn't want him to get involved, and if he forced his way in, she would be unhappy.

Scarlett didn't leave either. She stood beside Alex, quietly observing the pained expression on his face that she had never seen before, lost in thought.

Silently, Scarlett waited with him for the outcome inside.

Scarlett cautiously probed. "Alex, if... I mean, if it turns out that Katherine really did harm me yesterday, would you... divorce her?"

Alex's deep eyes paused for a moment, and without thinking, he replied, "No."

The light in Scarlett's tearful eyes trembled. "Why? If she did something wrong, she should be punished."

He coldly interrupted Scarlett's subjective assumption, "She wouldn't harm you."

Scarlett felt a bit sad. "Alex, do you trust Katherine that much? You've only known each other for a little over a month."

Alex's mind wasn't on answering Scarlett's question. He was fully focused on the situation inside the room and replied indifferently, "No reason needed. Trust is fundamental between a husband and wife."

Between husband and wife.

These four words nearly froze Scarlett's expression. Quickly, she smiled again, a simple smile curling at the corners of her mouth. "Maybe there's really been a misunderstanding. I don't think Katherine is a bad person either."

Sophie and Sunny rushed out of the elevator, running over hurriedly.

Sophie, full of indignation, said, "Alex, we heard everything! What Katherine did was too much! Scarlett just got back, didn't provoke her at all, and she actually hired someone to assault Scarlett!"

Alex shot a cold, sharp look at Sophie. "It's not concluded yet, Sophie. Watch your words!"

Sophie felt a chill down her spine. She opened her mouth but didn't dare say anything more. She had originally thought that as soon as Scarlett returned, Alex would abandon Katherine.

But now it seemed that Katherine had some skills; she had managed to carve out a place in Alex's heart!

Sunny, on the other hand, was entirely focused on Scarlett.

Although Sunny was the younger brother, he was a head taller than his sister. He lowered his head and nervously asked, "Scarlett, are you okay? I just found out what happened yesterday! They didn't tell me anything last night because they were afraid I'd act impulsively!"

Scarlett smiled, gently shook her head, and raised her hand to touch her brother's face, comforting him. "Sunny, don't worry. I'm fine. Alex arrived in time to save me yesterday."

Sunny, reassured that Scarlett was safe, let out a sigh of relief and clenched his fists in frustration. "Damn, bastard! If I see that creep, I'll beat him to death!"

Seeing Sunny getting agitated, Scarlett pretended to be angry and frowned, lecturing him, "Sunny, bad people will be punished by the police. You mustn't act recklessly or get into fights! Don't make me worry, okay?"

Not wanting to upset his sister, Sunny nodded obediently. "I know, I won't do anything rash. Don't worry."

Only then did Scarlett smile with relief. "Good, I knew you are the best!"

At that moment, the door to the hospital room opened. The police, holding the completed transcript, walked out, looking less than pleased.

Sophie, eager to see Katherine's fate, was the first to step forward and ask, "Sir, how did the investigation go? It must have been Katherine who arranged everything yesterday, right?"

The police sighed and shook their heads helplessly. "We haven't concluded yet. She refuses to admit anything."

Sophie frowned in confusion. "She won't admit it, so you can't convict her? Didn't you say you had witnesses and evidence? Bring the witnesses to confront her and show her the evidence. Let's see how she can deny it then!"

The police replied, "Our witness is the thug who implicated her, and the evidence includes related chat records provided by the thug and a $10,000 transfer from Katherine's account. But Katherine insists the thug was framing her, the chat records were fabricated, and the transfer was a technical fraud. She demands corroborative evidence proving she met the thug before she'll consider confessing."

The officer, recalling the interrogation process with Katherine, felt a headache coming on.

That girl named Katherine, who seemed so honest and cooperative throughout the investigation, answered every question.

But her logical thinking was very strong. She would immediately counter any loophole in their questions. After a few rounds, she directly overturned their existing evidence chain, making them start to doubt their intelligence.

Now, she had even convinced their leader that she was innocent and didn't have the motive to commit the crime.
