Chapter 710 Help Me Judge

Hearing Alex crush her hopes, Sophia gave a wry smile. "Alex, don't get me wrong. Since we've already gone through with the annulment, I'm not holding onto any fantasies about us. I just need one last favor before you go. Can you do that for me?"

Alex, having been burned before, looked a bit cautious. "What is it?"

Sophia, a bit frustrated, rested her chin on her hand. "Well, there's this guy who's been chasing after me for years. Now that I'm over you, I'm thinking of giving him a chance."

Alex listened and nodded. "That sounds good."

Sophia blinked and looked at him earnestly. "Alex, if you ever thought of me as a friend, please help me out! He's coming to pick me up soon. You men should understand men best. Can you see if he's genuine and reliable?"

Faced with her reasonable request, Alex checked his watch; he still had plenty of time.

If Sophia found a good match, Brent wouldn't be after Katherine anymore.

So, Alex nodded. "Okay."

Katherine got a photo from Alex on her social media. It was a picture of a plane ticket, leaving at eleven today.

She opened it, and her heart started racing!

Could it be that everything was sorted out?

If he was flying today, Alex would be home by this time tomorrow!

She clutched her phone excitedly, but she knew she couldn't fully relax until Alex was actually back.

"What's got you so happy?"

Katherine felt a light tap on her head from behind. Bernard then walked around the sofa, sat down, and gave her a playful smile.

Katherine put on a serious face. "Am I happy?"

Bernard reached over and gently pinched her nose. "Aren't you? Your eyes are sparkling. Thinking about Alex again?"

Katherine blushed and didn't respond to his comment. Instead, she asked, "You've had breakfast, so why aren't you at the office yet? Don't you have work to do?"

Bernard was pleased they could joke around like good friends now, unlike the awkwardness before.

He said, "Not much going on this morning. I'll head out soon. What do you want for dinner? I'll bring it back for you."

Katherine shook her head. "Anything's fine. I don't have any particular cravings. Oh, can you pick up some cheese sticks for Charles on your way back tonight? I'll send you the address. They make them by hand, no additives."

Bernard frowned slightly, feeling a bit sorry for Katherine.

Charles was an adopted child, not by her, but by Scarlett, who had once hurt her.

And yet, she treated Charles like her own.

Bernard's eyes softened with a mix of pity and admiration. He smiled and nodded. "Alright, send me the address, and I'll bring them back tonight."

Katherine pulled Charles, who was playing with toys on the carpet, up. "Alright, put away your toys, and let's go for a walk in the yard."

Charles nodded obediently, picking up his toys and placing them in a nearby storage box. Then he ran back, grabbing Katherine's hand. "Let's go!"

Katherine stood up, ready to take Charles outside.

Just then, a servant walked in and announced, "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, someone from the Melville family is here."

Bernard raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Who is it?"

With Alex out of the country, who else from the Melville family would come to the Mitchell mansion?

The servant replied, "It's Ms. Fiona Melville and Mrs. Sandra Melville. They said they're here to visit Ms. Galatea."

Hearing this, Katherine, who was about to take Charles out, paused.

Bernard wasn't exactly thrilled about the Melville family. He hadn't forgotten the feud between the Mitchells and the Melvilles, but he had put his grudges aside for Katherine's sake.

He frowned slightly and then looked at Katherine, waiting for her opinion.

Katherine thought for a moment and then said, "Since they're here, let them in."

Despite his own reluctance, Bernard nodded and signaled the servant to follow Katherine's instructions.

The servant turned to invite the guests in.

Even though Bernard was accommodating Katherine, he had no intention of meeting the guests. He stood up, grabbed his coat, and gently ruffled Katherine's hair. "Be good and stay home. I'm heading to the office. Call me if you need anything, okay?"

Katherine nodded, understanding Bernard's unwelcoming attitude towards the Melville family.

Shortly after Bernard left, the servant brought Sandra and Fiona in.

Fiona was supporting Sandra as they entered the living room. When they saw Katherine, Fiona pointed her out to Sandra. "Grandma, there's Katherine!"

Katherine stood with Charles and didn't approach them. Instead, she said, "Mrs. Sandra Melville, please come over and have a seat!"

Sandra walked slowly towards Katherine, her eyes warm as she looked her over, almost as if she were assessing her.

When she reached Katherine, she didn't even sit down before asking with concern, "Katherine, how have you been these past few days?"

Katherine smiled and nodded. "Thank you for asking, Mrs. Sandra Melville. I'm doing well. Please, have a seat."

"Alright, alright! Katherine, you should sit too! Now that you're pregnant, standing like this must be tiring," Sandra said as she sat down, her eyes never leaving Katherine.

Once Sandra sat down, Katherine followed suit and responded, "I'm fine, really. Mrs. Sandra Melville, what brings you here?"

Sandra sighed. "Katherine, you must know about the feud between the Melville and Mitchell families, right? I really shouldn't be here, but I miss you so much! I heard that the elders of the Mitchell family are all abroad visiting relatives, and there are no adults at home, so I came secretly! Jackie doesn't know about this. If he did, he'd definitely scold me!"

Katherine smiled, feeling a bit touched that Sandra had set aside the family feud to visit her.

She reassured her, "Mrs. Sandra Melville, I'm doing well here. You really don't need to worry about me."
