Chapter 657 Need Something from Me?

Katherine couldn't be bothered with him, shoved him aside, and breezed past him to head downstairs for some grub.

Feeling ignored, Sunny trailed after her. "Katherine, when did you find out you were my sister?"

Katherine gripped the stair railing, taking her time with each step. "I'm not your sister."

Sunny reached out to steady her. "I heard it yesterday, you're Laura."

Katherine accepted his help. "Even if I am Laura, that doesn't make me your sister."

Sunny's brows knitted together. "We got the same dad. How are you not?"

At the bottom step, Katherine shook him off and made her way to the dining room.

She didn't hate Sunny, but she couldn't forget he was the son of the guy who hurt Lotus, so she couldn't really see him as her little brother.

Sunny caught up, about to say something, when Bernard came out of the kitchen with a plate of food.

Sunny was floored. "Bernard, you're actually cooking?"

Bernard ignored him and gently called out to Katherine, "Katherine, come have breakfast."

Katherine didn't hesitate and sat down.

Sunny, like he'd seen a unicorn, whipped out his phone and snapped a few pics of Bernard in an apron.

Hearing the camera click, Bernard frowned and shot Sunny a stern look. "What are you doing now?"

Sunny put his phone away and stood a bit taller. "Nothing. I just never seen you so domestic. I had to capture it."

Bernard rolled his eyes at Sunny and set the plate in front of Katherine. "Katherine, enjoy."

The breakfast was loaded: fried eggs, bacon, fish fillets, veggies, and nuts. As Katherine picked up her knife and fork, she glanced at the time and raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Mitchell, aren't you going to work today?"

Hearing "Mr. Mitchell," Bernard felt a bit let down but still replied gently, "Nothing urgent today. I can go in later."

"Got it," Katherine said casually.

Sunny leaned in and whispered, "He's doing this just for you. Normally, he's at the office on the dot, no matter what. And he never cooked breakfast for me. Even when he was all about Scarlett, he never did this."

Katherine heard him but acted like she didn't, focusing on her breakfast.

Sunny's shoulder got a couple of heavy pats, and Bernard's voice followed. "Go eat your food and stop yapping!"

Sunny sat down, looking at his plate to find two overcooked eggs, burnt bacon, and fish fillets.

Bernard, not being a regular cook, obviously messed up the heat, so he gave Sunny the failed dishes.

Sunny smirked but didn't mind. It looked bad, but it wasn't burnt to a crisp, so he made do with it.

Bernard plopped down to join them for breakfast. His plate had just one egg and some veggies. "Katherine, a nutritionist is coming to make lunch for you. What do you want for dinner? I'll grab groceries after work."

Since Katherine decided to stay, she wasn't about to hold back. She thought for a sec. "Mexican food."

Bernard looked a bit miffed, frowning. "It's better not to eat spicy stuff right now."

Katherine didn't argue. "Then I'll order takeout myself."

Bernard softened up and said, "Alright, I'll get groceries and tortillas after work, and we can have Mexican food together."

Katherine just hummed and kept munching on her bacon. After a bite, she said quietly, "Mr. Mitchell, don't forget that painting you promised."

She was itching to get that painting now, not wanting Alex to use it to make her do annoying stuff.

Bernard nodded. "Don't worry, I won't forget."

Sunny had a sudden idea and, seeing Bernard in a good mood, boldly asked, "Bernard, our school is a test site today, so we have a day off. Can I skip tutoring? I want to stay home with Katherine today."

Bernard shot Sunny a displeased look.

Katherine chimed in, "Give him a day off. I'll be bored at home alone, and having someone around to talk to would be nice."

"Alright." Bernard's face softened. He smiled at Katherine, then sternly warned Sunny, "You better not upset Katherine."

Sunny was over the moon and nodded seriously. "Don't worry, I promise I won't upset her."

Bernard finished eating, grabbed a napkin, and wiped his mouth. "I'm heading out. You two behave and call me if you need anything."

Katherine absentmindedly responded with a hum.

After Bernard left, Sunny jumped up, grabbed a piece of toast, spread peanut butter on it, and handed it to Katherine. "Here you go."

Katherine raised an eyebrow, looking at the toast, then at Sunny. "Why so attentive?"

Sunny retorted, "Can't I be nice to you?"

Katherine chuckled, "Do you need something from me?"

Sunny grinned. "Not really. I just figured if I get on your good side, Bernard won't hit me anymore!"

Katherine said coldly, "You're not going anywhere today."

"Why?" Sunny frowned, clearly annoyed.

Katherine took the toast and ate it. "No reason. Didn't you tell Bernard you wanted to stay home with me?"

Sunny said, "I can hang with you for a bit, but I want to go out this afternoon."

Katherine firmly said, "You can't go anywhere. If you dare to go out, I'll call Bernard."

Sunny was frustrated. "Katherine, how can you do this? I finally have a whole day off and want to see my girlfriend."

Katherine was indifferent, looking at him like he was a kid. "Girlfriend? Who said you could date early?"

Sunny was exasperated. "I'm an adult! I can date and marry if I want!"

Katherine smiled. "Do you know who I am?"
