Chapter 319 Found Out She's Pregnant!
Alex never lit the cigarette between his fingers, probably because Katherine's presence was too much for him. When the car finally stopped, he casually tossed the cigarette into the trash bin and got out.
Katherine watched him, her expression complicated. After a moment's hesitation, she said, "Um... I'll stay in the car. Let me know how the check-up goes. I'll cover your medical expenses for your eye injury."
Alex paused, glanced at her, and looked displeased.
Leander quickly cleared his throat. "Ms. Galatea, could you please accompany Mr. Melville to the doctor? His eyes are injured, and it's hard for him to go alone. We can't park here; it would block the ambulances and disrupt the hospital's emergency services. I'll find a parking spot and join you both."
Katherine looked out the window. They were at the hospital entrance, where long-term parking wasn't allowed.
"...Alright, but hurry back. I have urgent matters at home," she replied.
Leander glanced at Alex's increasingly gloomy face and reluctantly agreed. "Alright, Ms. Galatea, I'll be back as soon as I park the car."
Reluctantly, Katherine got out. Watching Leander drive away, she sighed deeply.
Alex's tone was mocking. "Ms. Galatea really doesn't want to be with me?"
Katherine snapped back to reality, looked up at Alex, and forced a dry smile. "I just think, given our current relationship, there's no need for us to be alone together."
Alex snorted, turned away, and walked into the hospital lobby on his own.
Katherine helplessly followed him inside.
Someone like Alex, who had been spoiledd since childhood, probably didn't even know how to deal with hospital procedures.
Katherine rubbed her temples. Before Leander returned, she had to take care of Alex.
She found the emergency room and went to check in for Alex.
The nurse asked, "What's wrong?"
Katherine said, "He’s having trouble with his vision."
Alex, looking confused, said, "I thought we were here to see a gynecologist."
Katherine was baffled.
The nurse frowned deeply. "This is not a place for jokes. Please clarify which department you need."
Katherine felt very embarrassed and glared at Alex. "Stop talking, and don't cause trouble!"
She then politely said to the nurse, "Sorry, please ignore him. We need to register for ophthalmology."
Alex leaned forward to the registration window and said seriously, "Ophthalmology and gynecology, please."
The nurse was initially annoyed by the confusing request, but when she looked up and saw Alex's stunningly handsome face, her irritation melted away. "Uh... alright, please wait a moment."
Soon, she handed over two registration slips: one for ophthalmology and one for gynecology.
Katherine took them with a dark expression, forced a polite thank you, and then dragged Alex away to avoid blocking the line.
In a quieter spot, Katherine exploded. "Alex!"
"What?" Alex looked indifferent, as if he had done nothing wrong.
Katherine glared at him. "Why did you, a grown man, register for Gynecology? Aren't you ashamed?"
Alex looked down at her coldly. "It's for you."
She knew what he meant.
Katherine became wary, furrowing her brows, and then tried to appear calm and relaxed, smiling slightly. "Thank you! But I don't need it. I have always been clean and have no health issues. I've always taken care of myself!"
Alex squinted at her. "Really?"
Although Leander hadn't found any gynecological records for Katherine, ever since he saw her inexplicably retching last time, Alex had a lingering suspicion.
Her evasive attitude only made it more suspicious!
Katherine might really have his child.
Even if there was only a slight possibility, he couldn't ignore it. He had to find out the truth!
Katherine rolled her eyes at him. "Yes!"
Alex's lips curled slightly. "You're welcome. After all, we were once married. Consider today's check-up my treat."
Katherine was at a loss for words.
What?!
She had heard of treating someone to a meal but never to a medical check-up!
Forget it. She wouldn't argue with Alex. She would take him to Ophthalmology first to check his eyes. She wouldn't go to Gynecology no matter what!
At the ophthalmology clinic, the elderly chief doctor opened Alex's left eye with a flashlight and examined it.
Katherine stood by and asked, "Sir, how is it? Is there anything wrong with his eye?"
The doctor put away the flashlight. "Don't worry, it's nothing serious—just some blood congestion from external impact. I'll prescribe some anti-inflammatory eye drops. Use them three times a day, and the blood clots will dissipate in a few days."
Katherine sighed in relief. "That's good. Please prescribe the medication."
With the prescription, Katherine went to the pharmacy to get the medicine and handed the eye drops to Alex. "Here! Do you want to do it yourself, or should I help you?"
Alex glanced at the eye drops, didn't take them, and elegantly sat down on a chair in the hospital corridor, crossing his long legs, waiting to be served.
Katherine was silent.
He really acted like royalty!
Katherine snorted, walked up, and not-so-gently lifted Alex's chin, making him tilt his face up for easier application.
Then, she unscrewed the eye drop bottle, gently opened his eyelid, and helped him apply the drops.
She remarked, "Alright, remember to use it again before bed tonight and three times a day starting tomorrow. If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving!"
While instructing, she handed the eye drops to Alex and turned to leave without lingering.
However, she didn't manage to take a step before Alex grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
Alex said, "Ms. Galatea, why are you in such a hurry? Now, it's your turn."
