Chapter 198 The Galatea family Visits the Melville Manor

The car quickly arrived at the Melville Manor.

Katherine had been pestered by that Sunny all afternoon and was quite tired. Now that she was full, she just wanted to go to her room, wash up, and go to sleep early.

Alex followed her upstairs. Just as her hand was about to turn the doorknob, he reached over from behind, placing his hand over hers, gently covering it.

Katherine frowned and immediately stopped turning the doorknob. She turned her head and glared at the man. "What are you doing?"

Alex whispered, "Katherine, let me..."

As Alex got closer, Katherine instinctively shrank her neck, looking guarded. ''Let you do what?"

Alex whispered again, "Let me go in and sleep?!"

Katherine blushed.

She was moved but not soft-hearted. "Alex, if you don't even have this patience, it's hard for me to believe you're serious about me."

The rough hand covering her small one tightened a bit, then gently released. He straightened up and ruffled her hair. "I have plenty of patience. I'll wait until the day you accept me. Alright, go in and sleep early."

When Katherine turned her head, Alex had already turned around, heading towards the study.

She called out, "Wait, Alex, I forgot to tell you something!"

Alex stopped and turned to look at her. "Yeah? What is it?"

Katherine crooked her finger, indicating that he come closer as if she were going to tell him a secret.

He squinted his eyes, bent down, and leaned in, listening.

She stood on tiptoe, lightly kissed Alex's handsome cheek, and whispered, "Alex, thank you for bringing me an umbrella today! It's the first time in my life that someone has gone out of their way to bring me an umbrella. I really appreciate it. Good night."

A light kiss and a good night made Alex's heart melt.

Unfortunately, as sweet and soft as Katherine's words were, she closed the door just as quickly!

With a bang, Katherine had slipped into her room, locking the door behind her, instantly extinguishing Alex's tender feelings.

Looking at the tightly closed door, Alex raised his hand to touch the spot on his face where Katherine had just pecked him. The warm, soft sensation seemed to linger.

He smiled and walked into the study.

After her shower, Katherine opened her computer and logged into the company's email to see if she had received any feedback from Alex on her design plans.

Sure enough, there was an unread email in her inbox. She immediately clicked to open it, and it was indeed a reply from Alex.

The content was very brief and to the point, sparing no words.

Alex messaged: [The design is good, but it's not my type.]

Seeing this, Katherine immediately frowned!

Katherine thought, 'Turns out all clients are equally hard to please. They say to be creative, but when you really do, they say it doesn't feel right and don't give specific feedback. It's tough!'

Katherine then replied: [Mr. Melville, I'm sorry that it didn't satisfy you. Please describe the feeling you're looking for. Thank you!]

After sending the email, Katherine went to blow-dry her hair. When she came back, Alex had already replied.

This time, the email was a bit longer.

Alex massaged: [Soul. What I want is sincerity in your design and the ability to reflect the Melville Group's social value and sincerity to the public through the building's design concept. And what I paid a high price for is not just your professional skills but also the dedication you showed when designing Crescent Tower. Don't try to fool me with a seemingly flawless but soulless design draft hastily put together. I can see your valid professional level, but you haven't taken it seriously.]

Katherine was stunned, being convinced by his words.

She indeed hadn't put her heart into it, only using her professional and refined skills.

True dedication did require imbuing a design with soul.

Oh well, Alex did pay a high price of one hundred million dollars to ask for her to take on this project specifically, so it's reasonable for his demands to be high.

Katherine replied to the email again: [Okay, I understand. Thank you, Mr. Melville, for the guidance. Please give me some more time to think about the new draft, and I will definitely provide work that satisfies you.]

There was no further reply from the other side.

Katherine, however, sat at her computer, deep in thought. The previous draft had been scrapped, and the new draft had to be completely redone. But what design concept should the new Melville Group headquarters be based on?

The next morning, Alex specifically instructed Anton not to wake the sleepyhead Katherine. After having breakfast alone, he went out.

Before Katherine had slept enough, the three members of the Galatea family came to the door.

After getting out of the car at the entrance of Melville Manor, Sherry pointed at the imposing mansion in front of her and said with great resentment, "Dad, Mom, this is the place! Last time I saw Katherine swaggering into this house!"

Joshua and Lillian were both stunned. To build such a large private residence in the city center was not just about having money but also absolute power!

No wonder the Melville family was the top family!

Lillian was almost fuming inside. "Joshua, look at how grand this house is. If it weren't for Katherine, this should have been our Sherry's in-laws' house. We might have been able to come here often, but now..."

Joshua frowned, feeling like he missed out on a fortune, immediately preparing to go in and demand an explanation. "Sherry, ring the bell!"

Sherry nodded, walked to the door, and pressed the doorbell several times with some force to vent her frustration!

However, the door did not open immediately. Instead, a display screen above the doorbell showed an older man's face.

The old man asked very kindly and politely, "May I ask who you are looking for?"

Sherry said, "We're looking for Katherine. Is she here?"

Anton was a bit surprised and wary. "So you're here to see Mrs. Melville? May I ask what your relationship is with Mrs. Melville?"

Hearing the older man refer to Katherine as Mrs. Melville, Sherry was furious. Gritting her teeth, she turned back and said, "Dad, Mom, did you hear that? He called Katherine Mrs. Melville! This proves everything that woman told us yesterday is true! I'm so angry!"

Lillian, having more life experience, was much calmer than Sherry. She pushed aside her overly emotional daughter, walked up, and smiled at the older man on the display. "Hello, we are Katherine's parents and sister. We came to see her about something today. Could you tell her we are here?"
