Just as Katherine stepped out of the restaurant, she heard a commotion of footsteps behind her. She turned around and saw those people chasing after her again, along with nearby reporters rushing over with their cameras.
In this situation, it was definitely not a good idea for them to take a cab.
Because it was about a scam, the cab driver might get too involved and not remain neutral. If the driver got angry like those people, it would be a big problem!
"Alex, run!" She exclaimed.
Katherine grabbed Alex's hand and started running with him.
She wasn't afraid of those people; she just found it troublesome. They were too persistent, and she couldn't hit them!
Besides, Alex's identity couldn't be exposed!
He held a curical status, and his reputation affected the entire Melville Group's survival. She didn't want to drag him into this small matter.
They ran through the nearby streets, weaving in and out while the onlookers and reporters continued to chase them.
At a critical moment, Alex pulled her to hide behind some debris until those people couldn't find them and ran past.
Katherine let out a sigh of relief, slightly panting from the intense running.
Alex looked down at her and asked, "Why did you run? You just ate, and now you're running intensely. What if your stomach feels uncomfortable?"
Katherine blinked, feeling helpless. "If we didn't run, should we fight them?"
Alex's long fingers gently brushed her flushed face from the running. "Even if we fight, you don't have to do it. Just watch."
Katherine furrowed her brows. "Alex, I don't want you to get involved because of this."
Before she could finish, someone excitedly shouted, "Found them! The scammer girl is over there!"
"Hurry up, chase them! Don't let them get away!"
"Stop! Both of you!"
Katherine felt uneasy and immediately said, "Oh no, we've been discovered! You run! I can handle them alone!"
What? Alex was about to take her with him, but hearing her suggestion, he frowned unhappily. "Together!"
Katherine couldn't run anymore. He was right; she felt a bit uncomfortable in her stomach after running intensely right after eating.
She stated, "No way! I'll stay behind to distract them! Stop hesitating, run!"
Alex's gaze was intense. Katherine's decision to push him away didn't make him feel touched or happy.
What did she think of him?
Did she really think he would leave her to face the trouble alone and walk away?
Alex refused to leave, and Katherine, anxious, couldn't push him away.
At the critical moment, Leander drove up to the alley, quickly turned the car around, lowered the window, and said efficiently, "Mr. Melville, over here! Hurry up! Get Mrs. Melville in the car!"
Alex grabbed Katherine's small hand and quickly led her to the car.
Leander hit the gas and took them away from the trouble.
People chased after them but saw the top-tier Maserati driving away, making the onlookers even more indignant!
"That bitch just got into a limited edition Maserati, right?"

She reached out and said, "Alex, give me my phone!"
Alex, with a stern face, took out his phone and handed it to her. But as Katherine reached for it, he raised it high, out of her reach, and asked coldly, "Tell me first, why did you want me to run alone just now?"
Katherine furrowed her brows and then answered, "Because... I was afraid they'd take pictures of you!"
Alex's eyes darkened. Katherine didn't consider him one of her own and even looked down on him.
Katherine could naturally see his displeasure. Thinking quickly, she said, "Alex, didn't you say your identity is special and that you can't let others know you have vulnerabilities? I was afraid that if those people took pictures of you with me, there would be people trying to kidnap me every day! Wouldn't my life be miserable then!"
Alex paused, the darkness in his eyes fading and gradually warming. Katherine's words had appeased him. She did understand that she was his vulnerability.
He snorted coldly and patted her head. "You do know how to protect yourself!"
Katherine pouted, reaching out her hand. "Give me the phone!"
He handed her the phone.
Katherine took the phone and immediately opened Twitter to check today's news.
There was nothing unusual online. The related keywords had been suppressed, likely at Alex's command.
But that video had already spread, making it hard to stop private sharing. Most netizens probably knew by now.
She checked the origin of the incident.
It turned out that Bella had posted on Twitter, distorting the truth about what happened that day. She claimed she was extorted for over a million dollars, causing her to sell her house and car, and her mother fell ill because of it. She said she had lost hope in life.

Bella could easily spread rumors, but Katherine had to run herself ragged to clear her name!

Katherine lightly shook her head. "Nothing, just a bit of a stomachache."
He stated, "I told you not to run like that! Come here!"
Alex's tone was both soft and reproachful. He reached out and pulled her over, placing her on his lap.
Then, he covered her abdomen with his warm hand and gently massaged her stomach.
Although it did help, Katherine felt awkward. "Alex, don't do this."
He raised an eyebrow. "Why? Is there any part of you I haven't touched?"
Katherine blushed furiously, glanced at Leander driving in the front, and glared at Alex. "Alex! Don't you have any shame?"
