Chapter 679 Three People Living Together
Faced with Katherine's blunt question, Sophia shook her head, looking all innocent. "No way, Katherine. How can you accuse me without any proof?"
Katherine sneered, "Accuse you? If you hadn't done what I said, I wouldn't waste my breath on you. You think I'm jealous of you and Alex getting hitched? Let me tell you, I'm not jealous at all. If you managed to make him fall for you, that's on you, and I won't get in your way."
As she spoke, Katherine shot a glare at Alex.
Alex, knowing he was in the wrong, didn't dare provoke Katherine or show any reaction.
After all, it was his fault for secretly marrying Sophia for some special reasons without telling Katherine!
Sophia still didn't admit to what she'd done, but she had no way to argue back, so she changed the subject. "Katherine, do you really not care about Alex? Even if I take him away, you wouldn't mind? Are you being fair to Alex's genuine feelings for you?"
Alex narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at Katherine, his emotions hard to read.
Sophia was pretty good at shifting the blame, and with a few words, she had stirred up the tension between Katherine and Alex again.
But Katherine didn't care. Since she dared to say those things in front of Alex, she wasn't afraid of what he might think.
So she just gave a faint smile. "Whether I'm fair to him or not, he knows very well, so you don't need to worry about it. As for why you and Alex got married back then, you, I, and Alex all know. I'm not jealous of that. I'm mad that Alex kept it from me and didn't tell me. If you can use that meaningless certificate to lure him away from me, then it only proves Alex isn't worth my time. Yet, I'm pretty sure you can't mess around and take him away. If you could, I wouldn't be here."
Hearing Katherine's confidence in him, a discreet smile appeared on Alex's face, and he felt a bit more relaxed.
Sophia, however, was a bit angry. Katherine was tougher to deal with than she had imagined. Katherine was indeed different from other women, no wonder Alex was so attached to her.
Alex coaxed in a deep voice, "Alright, you've said your piece, and you've talked so much, you must be thirsty. Come on, let's get some water."
Katherine glanced at Alex. Having just experienced the feeling of completely losing him, it was too painful.
Now, she knew that her feelings for Alex had long surpassed her previous rational judgment.
Even if he had deceived her, she still cared about him and loved him deeply.
Katherine knew that Alex had no romantic feelings for Sophia and hadn't cheated on her.
She understood but still didn't give him a good look. Katherine glared at Alex disdainfully. "Don't try to butter me up. I haven't forgiven you yet."
Alex, feeling pretty helpless, tried to coax her, "I understand, but you still need to have a drink. You can't go thirsty just because of me, right?"
Katherine, clearly annoyed, shot back, "I don't want water. I want coffee."
Alex nodded obediently and then turned to Fiona with a stern look. "Go get Katherine a coffee, less sugar, less ice, ASAP."
Fiona paused for a moment, then realized Alex and Katherine were about to make up. She beamed, "Okay, I'll go right away. Katherine, hang tight, I'll get you that coffee. Be right back."
With that, she dashed out.
During her pregnancy, Katherine had been watching her diet, but after such an emotional rollercoaster, she just craved a cup of coffee.
From start to finish, Alex hadn't even glanced at Sophia, his focus entirely on Katherine.
Sophia didn't care much about Katherine's thoughts, but she couldn't ignore Alex's opinion of her. So, she put on a righteous face and said to Alex, "Alex, Katherine has a deep misunderstanding and prejudice against me, but you know me well. I can't be what she says."
Alex finally looked at Sophia and asked directly, "Have you gotten your documents reissued?"
Sophia hesitated, trying to dodge the question. "Not yet, because in Markovia..."
Alex cut her off, not wanting to hear her excuses. "Sophia, I appreciate the assistance you offered earlier, but we've agreed that our involvement was solely for family matters, nothing beyond that. We've also signed an agreement. But if you keep delaying the reissue of your documents and don't cooperate with the divorce, then I'll have to go through the judicial process in Markovia and file a lawsuit."
Sophia stared at Alex in shock, never expecting him to be so cold. Finally, she dropped the act and angrily said, "Alex? You used me and now want to discard me cleanly? I, Sophia, won't let you bully me like this. My father is Brent, and he won't agree to you treating me this way either. Alex, you better take responsibility for me. Otherwise, you know how formidable Brent can be. Alex, as long as you accept me, I won't be like Katherine. I can tolerate anything and overlook everything for you."
Alex pulled Katherine into his arms, stroking her head, not wanting her to hear Sophia's disgusting words anymore.
He looked at Sophia, unafraid, "Are you threatening me?"
Sophia shook her head, her eyes filled with longing, "I'm not threatening you. I just want to be with you. Alex, I don't even mind you having Katherine, or her having your child. The three of us can live together. I just want to be your Mrs. Melville, your legitimate wife. I won't care how many Katherines you have in the future."
Alex frowned, unable to understand the mindset of this old friend he had known for years, and said indifferently, "Sorry, I can only see you as a friend."
