Chapter 49 What's the Truth?

Katherine looked at Alexander and asked, "What? Do you also suspect me?"

Alexander smiled and said, "Suspect you of what? Do I suspect that you gave yourself a graduation gift as a prostitute?"

Katherine was slightly taken aback and glanced at him. How could he joke at a time like this?

But his attitude seemed to indicate that he didn't doubt her at all.

Ignoring Alexander, Katherine turned to the police officer and asked, "How should I cooperate with your investigation?"

The police officer said sternly, "Come with me first!"

"Katherine!" Sandra, worried, grabbed Katherine's arm.

Katherine smiled apologetically at Sandra, "Grandma, I'm afraid I won't be able to have dinner with you tonight."

Sandra exclaimed, "Katherine, are you really...?"

Katherine didn't say much and followed the police into the interrogation room.

As she passed by Fiona, a victorious smile appeared on Fiona's face. She gloatingly said, "Katherine, do you think you can escape by pretending nothing happened and going back home? Let me tell you, justice has long arms. You may deceive others, but you can never deceive me!"

Katherine stopped and calmly looked at her. "Fiona, why are you so convinced that the woman involved in prostitution is me? What did you see? Or do you have any evidence in your hands? Do you dare to speak up?"

A hint of panic flashed across Fiona's face, but then she snorted coldly. "I didn't see anything, and I don't have any evidence. I'm going by my intuition! Katherine, even now, you won't admit it? Let's see how you can argue when the police verify the situation!"

Katherine lowered her head and silently followed the police into the interrogation room.

Finally, things had reached the effect Fiona wanted. She said confidently, "Brother, Grandma, just wait and see. Katherine is about to reveal her true colors!"

After experiencing two consecutive shocks, Sandra was not feeling well. Leander supported her and helped her to a chair to rest.

Then, he turned to Alexander and asked for his opinion, "Mr. Melville, should I make a call to the police chief regarding Ms. Galatea's situation?"

Alexander seemed to be contemplating something.

"Mr. Melville?" Leander thought Alexander hadn't heard and called out again.

Alexander turned away, elegantly lit a cigarette, and said indifferently, "No need. If she has done something, she should face the consequences. If she hasn't done anything, she won't be trapped here."

Leander nodded, "Alright."

Fiona felt pleased when she heard Alexander's attitude.

Now, even Alexander didn't want to deal with Katherine. She was definitely finished this time!

Ten minutes later, Katherine calmly walked out of the interrogation room.

The serious-looking police officer apologized to Katherine and politely escorted her to the lobby.

Fiona, sensing something was wrong, quickly approached the police and asked, "What's going on? The woman involved in prostitution at the Melville Hotel is Katherine, right?"

The police shook their heads and said, "We have verified that the incident you reported has nothing to do with Katherine."

Fiona was very dissatisfied with this result and questioned, "Then what is the truth? Have you really investigated it? It was clearly her; how can it have nothing to do with her? Were you bribed by her in the interrogation room just now?"

The police displeased with her suspicion, angrily said, "I can assure you that the suspected woman has been caught by our colleagues and is being brought to justice. Katherine was simply a victim of identity theft who happened to book a room at the Melville Hotel and coincidentally had an encounter with the suspect!"

Fiona still didn't believe it and was about to argue with the police when the sound of police sirens outside interrupted them.

After the sirens stopped, a woman wearing the same clothes as Katherine was brought in by two police officers. "This time you can't escape!"

Fiona was stunned.

The police officer said to Fiona, "The person who was just brought back is the real suspect!"

Fiona frowned and stared at the female suspect. After regaining her senses, she vigorously shook her head and said, "No! It's not her! She is not the one."

Then she turned to Katherine and pointed, "It's you! It's your scheme! That woman must be the one you found to replace you!"

Katherine innocently shrugged, "Fiona, why do you insist on accusing me of being a prostitute?"

Fiona said angrily, "Because you are a prostitute!"

Suddenly, Sandra slapped Fiona's face hard.

Sandra was extremely angry, and now she was catching her breath after the slap.

"Fiona! Have you caused enough trouble? You created a scene at home, and now you're causing a scene at the police station? Why do you keep insulting her like this?"

Fiona, in disbelief, covered her face and cried, "Grandma, did you hit me? You have never hit me from childhood to now. Today, you actually hit me for Katherine?"

Seeing Fiona cry, Sandra's heart softened a bit. But her behavior today was really out of line!

Sandra scolded sternly, "I should have hit you a long time ago! If I had disciplined you earlier, you wouldn't have become so spoiled! Now, you apologize to Katherine immediately and seek her forgiveness!"

"Grandma! I didn't do anything wrong! Why should I apologize?"

Fiona shouted frantically, "Katherine is a prostitute! Everything I said is true! Katherine is the woman who was doing prostitution at the hotel!"

As Fiona cursed, she rushed towards Katherine, grabbed her by the neck, and shook her violently. "Katherine, admit it! Admit that you went to the Melville Hotel for prostitution! You shameless woman."

Katherine couldn't speak as she was being shaken.

The police in the station quickly intervened to stop Fiona. "What are you doing? This is a police station; stop it immediately!"

Sandra was on the verge of despair. "Fiona, please stop."

Alexander finished his cigarette and walked into the hall. He supported Sandra just in time and then glared at Fiona, commanding coldly, "Let her go."

Fiona was genuinely afraid of Alexander. She trembled and said, "Brother, you can't have this woman."

Alexander said in a deep voice, "Don't make me repeat myself."

Fiona, frightened, immediately released Katherine.

Alexander handed Sandra over to Leander for support and then walked up to Katherine. He lifted her face and examined the red marks on her neck, furrowing his brow. "Are you out of your mind? Don't you know how to avoid it?"

Katherine, displeased, said, "Uncle, you are typical of victim-blaming! She attacked me, and you blame me for not avoiding it? Does the Melville family have no sense of justice?"

Alexander suddenly relaxed, amused by Katherine's words, and then pinched her cheek.

Katherine said, "She just grabbed my neck, and now you're pinching my face! The Melville family is truly unreasonable!"

Alexander chuckled, gently ruffled her hair, and then looked at Fiona, saying coldly, "Go home!"

Fiona realized that Alexander was genuinely angry and tried to please him, saying, "Brother."

Alexander ignored her, and instead, he lowered his head to examine the two red marks on Katherine's neck, asking, "Does it hurt?"

Katherine rolled her eyes, "You hurt me more when you pinched me!"

Alexander smiled and said, "If you know it hurts, then next time, try to avoid it earlier."

Katherine didn't want to bother with him.

Fiona, seeing how Alexander treated Katherine with a level of tolerance and patience he had never shown to other women, was taken aback. She glared at Katherine even more fiercely!

This time, she let Katherine escape, luckily, but she wouldn't let her off next time!

Leander supported Sandra as they walked out, and Fiona followed behind, feeling dejected.

At that moment, two police officers escorted another middle-aged man in. The moment he saw Fiona, he seemed to have found hope and immediately rushed over, grabbing her clothes with his handcuffed hands. "Mrs. Melville! It's great to see you here! Please help me!"

Fiona's face paled at the mention of Gavin. She looked panicked and avoided his gaze. "What are you talking about? You must have mistaken me! I am not Mrs. Melville; I don't know you at all!"
