Chapter 950 Won't Come Again

Sunny's pupils trembled when he heard Summer Villa, and he frowned, asking, "Dad, are you going to find my mom?"

Edwin nodded, "I have some things to ask her."

Sunny was helpless, "Do you have to go now? Dad, your current health condition is not suitable for long trips."

Edwin insisted, "Take me there immediately! If I don't get some things clarified, I won't be able to sleep at home! Sunny, turn around!"

Sunny opened her mouth, wanting to persuade Edwin, but ultimately remained silent, signaling the driver to turn around and head to Summer Villa.

Alice had been living at Summer Villa for years. Although she lived there, it was actually because Alice had made a mistake and was confined there by her grandparents and Edwin.

He had been abroad for the past few years and hadn't visited Alice.

Actually, he had guessed some things from what he heard Edwin and the woman say in the hospital corridor. It was evident that Edwin, like him, believed that the misunderstanding back then was caused by Alice.

Nora invited the doctor to the ward to examine Claire. The doctor said her unstable heart rate was due to emotional distress and that there was no major issue. She needed to rest well and not overthink.

Claire politely agreed to the doctor's advice and asked Nora to see the doctor out.

After seeing the doctor out, Nora returned, looking very worried at Claire, "Claire, even the doctor said you're overthinking! You can't go on like this. If you continue, even if your injury heals, you'll collapse!"

Claire forced a bitter smile, "Sorry, Nora, for making you worry about me and keeping you up all night, ordering me a midnight snack and helping me deal with the unwelcome guest."

Nora sat down, opened her phone's camera, and took a picture of Claire at that moment, "Look at your expression. Your smile looks worse than if you were crying!'

Claire looked at the phone Nora handed her and saw her own bitter smile. She had to admit that Nora was right. Her complexion was terrible, and her smile did look worse than crying.

Nora placed her hand on the back of Claire's hand, "Claire, I know seeing Edwin must have been hard for you, but he's gone now! I've said everything that needed to be said to him, and he shouldn't bother you again!"

Claire was stunned and looked up at Nora, "What did you say to him?"

Nora said, "I told him that he had already hurt you and Katherine enough, and if he had any conscience, he shouldn't bother you again! But..."

Claire stared at her, quietly waiting for Nora to continue.

Nora continued, "But he seemed unaware of the incident where you were chased. When I accused him, he looked confused and asked what was going on. I think he might have been pretending!"

The light in Claire's eyes flickered and then gradually dimmed.

"Alright, Claire, at least we can be sure that Edwin has really left and won't bother you for now. You should lie down and rest for a while, and stop overthinking!"

Claire nodded. She wasn't sleepy at all, her mind was in turmoil. If people could easily control their thoughts, there wouldn't be so many people with psychological issues!

But she knew that as long as she was awake, Nora wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully. For Nora's sake, she had to pretend to sleep.

Claire lay down and closed her eyes.

After covering her with a blanket, Nora went to another bed to find her daughter, Linda.

At that moment, Linda was already asleep, frowning tightly, dreaming about something.

Nora reached out to smooth Linda's frown, then lifted the blanket and lay down beside Linda, quietly closing her eyes.

She gave Claire a convincing pep talk, but in reality, she couldn't stop herself from overthinking either. She was also very worried about Brent, wondering how he was doing in prison.

Brent was always difficult to deal with and had a bad temper. If he lost his temper with the staff in prison, it wouldn't be good!

Nora tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Finally, she couldn't lie down anymore. She sat up and looked at the time. It was already dawn. She might as well get up and buy some breakfast for Claire and Linda!

She got out of bed, put on her shoes, and walked to the door of the ward. As she opened the door, she ran into Katherine, who was about to knock.

Nora was surprised to see Katherine, "Katherine, why are you here so early?"

Katherine wasn't alone; she was holding Charles in her arms.

Charles had woken up from a nightmare and couldn't sleep, so she brought him out for a walk to distract him and also to check on Claire.

"Charles got injured and is staying in the hospital. He couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd come to see my mom," Katherine said.

Nora looked at Charles in Katherine's arms, seeing the injury on his little face, and asked with concern, "How did Charles get hurt? Poor thing!"

Katherine didn't want to worry Claire. Telling Nora was equivalent to telling Claire, so she didn't tell the truth, "Charles accidentally bumped himself. Nora, is my mom still sleeping?"

Nora glanced back at the bed where Claire was lying with her eyes closed and made a shushing gesture to Katherine, "She finally fell asleep. Let her sleep a bit longer. I was just about to go buy breakfast at the hospital entrance! Katherine, why don't you come with me, and we can buy some for you and Charles too!"

Katherine looked into the ward, seeing Claire still asleep, and after thinking for a moment, agreed to Nora's invitation, "Alright."

After closing the ward door, they walked into the elevator together.

When Katherine brought Charles out, she had draped her coat over him, so she wasn't worried about him getting cold while they walked.

"Nora, you said my mom finally fell asleep. What's going on? Has my mom been having trouble sleeping these past few days?"

Nora turned to look at Katherine, seemingly debating whether to tell her. After thinking for a while, she decided to let Katherine know.

"Your mom initially woke up from a nightmare, and then she saw someone she didn't want to see, which caused her emotions to fluctuate greatly and brought up many sad memories."

Katherine frowned, "Someone my mom didn't want to see? Who was it?"

Nora sighed, "Who else could it be? Edwin Mitchell, your biological father. He somehow found Claire's ward and said a few words to her, which greatly upset her!"

Edwin! Katherine frowned deeply, remembering that she had indeed seen Edwin when she walked past the ward!
