Chapter 358 It's Her!
Charles opened his eyes, still pale and weak from his brush with death.
After the initial shock, everyone rushed to care for him.
Katherine finally relaxed when he woke up. She leaned against Alex, sighing in relief.
Alex just held her, gently smoothing her hair.
Despite her shock, Scarlett kept up her act. She knelt by Charles, wiping her tears. "Charles, thank goodness! You're awake. Mommy thought you were gone. You scared me."
Charles looked around, confused and unsure of what had happened.
When Scarlett tried to hug him, he looked terrified and started crying loudly.
Scarlett's movements stiffened, but she kept hugging him. "Charles, don't cry. Mommy's here!"
Instead of calming down, Charles cried harder and tried to crawl away, too weak to get up.
Bernard, confused, reached out to support Charles. "Charles, what's wrong? Don't you recognize your mommy?"
Charles, full of fear, buried his face in Bernard's arms, trembling.
Scarlett's face darkened. "Charles, it's Mommy! Let Mommy hold you."
Charles didn't respond, staying buried in Bernard's arms, trembling.
A child refusing his mother after a traumatic experience would seem odd to anyone.
Bernard sensed something was off but didn't dwell on it due to his long-standing trust in his sister.
"Scarlett, you're too emotional right now. It'll upset him more. Give him some space. He'll come to you when he calms down."
Scarlett nodded, pretending to be helpless. "Alright, I just hope Charles is okay."
She was more worried about Charles revealing the truth about his injury than his physical condition.
If Charles said she caused his head injury, how would Bernard and Alex think of her?
Damn it! Who would've thought a child who had stopped breathing could come back to life?
Katherine must be a witch; how else could she have such powers?
She must have cast a spell on Alex and used some resurrection magic on Charles.
Katherine didn't know any resurrection magic; she just knew some medicine and obscure knowledge.
Heal Guard Balm was a common household medicine, but most people didn't know the pill hidden in the cap was the key.

Katherine had seen a priest use it to save a seriously injured person who had stopped breathing, so she remembered how to use it.
But the pill was only for critical cases, not minor injuries.

Charles was lucky; he fought to survive and came back.
The ambulance and police arrived at the same time.
The medical staff rushed in, checked Charles, and asked what measures had been taken. They praised the timely rescue, saying it saved his life.
When the doctor praised them, Bernard glanced at Katherine with a complex expression.
Since Charles had lost a lot of blood and needed stitches, the medical staff put him on a stretcher and took him to the hospital.
Bernard told Billy to go with Charles to the hospital while he stayed to talk to the police.
Scarlett didn't go with the ambulance because Charles cried whenever she got close. The medical staff had to persuade her to get out to avoid upsetting him more.
She had no choice but to get off, worried Charles might say something to Billy.
After the medical staff left, the police asked, "Mr. Mitchell, did someone in your family call to report that someone killed your child?"
Bernard nodded and explained the whole incident.
The police were surprised. "So the child isn't dead and has been saved?"
"That's right," Bernard said calmly. "Charles' injuries are serious, so he was taken to the hospital. Once he's stable, he can cooperate with your investigation."
The police nodded and asked, "Do you suspect anyone of harming your child?"
Bernard's expression was complex. After a moment, he glanced at Katherine. "It's her."
The police looked at Katherine, standing nearby.
"Do you have any evidence that she harmed the child?"
Bernard said, "There are eyewitnesses. My sister Scarlett and our housekeeper saw her."
The police walked towards Katherine and asked, "What's your name?"
Katherine answered, "Katherine Galatea."
The police said, "Katherine, someone reported you for attempted murder. Please come with us for investigation."
Katherine wasn't surprised and was about to cooperate.
Alex's hand suddenly gripped her shoulder, stopping her.
Alex gave the police a cold glance and then looked at Bernard.
"Bernard, you didn't tell the police how she just saved Charles despite your attempts to stop her?"
Bernard furrowed his brows. "She did save Charles, but that doesn't prove she didn't harm him first."
The police were confused. "Are you saying Katherine harmed the child and then saved him?"
Bernard stood in front of Alex and Katherine. "That's correct."
Alex looked at Bernard coldly. "If she harmed Charles, why would she save him? Does that make any sense to you?"
