Chapter 189 Do As You Please
Katherine ignored him, yawned, and walked past him directly, heading upstairs to catch up on sleep.
Sunny was stunned for a moment, then turned around and followed her a few steps, dissatisfied. "Katherine, what exactly are you going to do with me? Just tell me!"
Katherine still showed no reaction and continued walking up the stairs.
Feeling ignored, Sunny got a bit angry and wanted to chase after her, but the Melville family's butler, Anton, stepped in and raised his arm to block him. "Mr. Mitchell, Mrs. Melville is going back to her room to sleep. You can discuss your matters with her after she wakes up!"
Sunny frowned. "Why is she so lazy? What time is it, and she's still sleeping!"
Anton didn't like the Mitchells speaking ill of Mrs. Melville. Anton's usual politeness vanished, replaced by a sharper edge in his words. "Anyway, you can't go up and disturb Mrs. Melville right now. Just wait downstairs!"
Then, Anton signaled a few servants to keep a close watch on Mr. Mitchell to prevent him from causing any trouble and disturbing Mrs. Melville's rest.
Blocked by Anton, Sunny felt helpless. After all, this wasn't the Mitchell family; he had to respect the Melville family's rules.
So, Sunny could only watch as Katherine went upstairs to sleep. He then sat on the living room sofa, took out his phone, and surfed the internet to kill time.
The online rumors had already subsided.
Leander acted quickly. Although Mr. Melville had tasked him with taking Scarlett home, he didn't delay the main task. He had already instructed his subordinates to release the original video along with a self-recorded video by that celebrity and notified major media outlets to repost them. The incident quickly became a trending topic.
Public opinion took a sharp turn!
Those who had insulted Katherine now felt ashamed. Some apologized, some quietly deleted their comments, and some turned from haters to fans.
Katherine's popularity soared after the drama, fueled by her captivating looks, inspiring backstory, and scholarly persona. The public's admiration for her grew even stronger when the situation reversed, solidifying her image as a resilient and dignified figure.
It's a pity Katherine didn't have a Twitter account; otherwise, she might have gained a million followers overnight.
Seeing the internet restored to peace, Sunny felt relieved.
Katherine had a good nap, and when she woke up, it was already afternoon.
She got up, washed her face in the bathroom, changed her clothes, and then opened her computer to refine the design drafts she had rushed to complete last night.
Having double-checked the drawings for any errors, Katherine forwarded them to Alex's email, using the company's email, to ask for the opinion of this major client and waited for a reply.
Initially, she planned to finish the drawings in three days, but she completed them in one day. Even though she had enough sleep, she still felt mentally exhausted, so she decided to go out for a walk to relax.
She turned off the computer and went downstairs.
When Katherine came down, Sunny was engrossed in a mobile game on the sofa.
Seeing her, Anton immediately approached with concern. "Mrs. Melville, you're awake! Well, you hadn't woken up during luchtime, so I didn't dare to disturb you! What would you like to eat now? I'll have the kitchen prepare it for you right away."
Katherine felt that Anton was becoming more enthusiastic towards her.
Anton was actually a nice person, always respectful of her, unlike some of the Melville family's servants, who were snobbish and two-faced.
However, it was previously clear that Anton didn't treat her with the same respect as Mrs. Melville; he treated her politely, like an ordinary guest.
All this stemmed from Alex's changed attitude towards her.
Katherine waved her hand. "No need, I'll handle lunch myself."
Anton quickly asked, "Mrs. Melville, where are you going? Shall I call a driver to take you?"
Katherine replied as she walked towards the door, "No. I want to walk there. Consider it a stroll."
Anton was a bit worried. "Mrs. Melville, did you bring your phone? Is it fully charged? It would be bad if you couldn't be contacted in case Mr. Melville needs to reach you or you encounter any issues."
He vividly recalled the night Mr. Melville came home from his business trip, the silence of the house heavy with unspoken worry. Mrs. Melville was nowhere to be found, and her phone was unreachable, leaving Mr. Melville with a growing sense of dread.
Mr. Melville searched frantically for her all night, almost turning Janetrick upside down.
Thinking about it, Anton felt scared.
Katherine, having changed her shoes at the entrance, said, "Don't worry, I won't get lost! Anton, go about your business; I'm heading out."
Anton had no choice but to comply, bowing to see her off. "Mrs. Melville, take care. Be careful on the road."
Katherine responded faintly and walked out leisurely.
When Anton started talking to Katherine, Sunny had already noticed and turned to look. Seeing Katherine leave, he quickly exited his game and got up to follow her.
Outside the Melville family's gate, Sunny quickly caught up with Katherine and asked, "Hey, Katherine, where are you going?"
Katherine still ignored him, humming her favorite tune, and walked towards the nearest bus stop.
Feeling ignored, Sunny was annoyed and stepped in front of her, angrily saying, "I'm asking you a question! Where are you going? Are you mute or deaf?"
Katherine was forced to stop and lazily raised an eyebrow. "Are you my boss? Do I have to tell you where I'm going?"
Facing Katherine's disdainful look, Sunny remembered he was here to admit his mistakes today, feeling a bit guilty.
So Sunny asked, "Well, no... um, didn't you say you'd deal with me? I've been waiting for you to answer me. How long are you going to keep me in suspense?"
Katherine looked bored. "It wasn't you who did it, so what am I dealing with you for?"
Sunny was stunned and looked at her in surprise. "You really believe it wasn't me? Then why did you make me stay?"
Katherine rolled her eyes at him. "If I didn't keep you, would you have been able to play games all morning in the Mitchell family comfortably?"
Sunny thought about it and realized she was right.
If he had gone home with Scarlett, he would definitely have been forced to study and do exercises without a chance to catch a breath all day!
By this time, Katherine had already walked past him and continued her stroll.
Sunny didn't stop her again, obediently following beside her, puzzled. "Katherine, why do you believe it wasn't me? I did bully you a few times before; you shouldn't think well of me."
Katherine chuckled, "I don't think well of you. In my opinion, your intelligence isn't high enough to come up with those intricate online posts in such a short time."
Sunny's youthful, handsome face fell, and he immediately got angry. "Katherine, how dare you look down on me!"
Katherine glanced at him. "I'm just curious. You are a proud person. What made you admit to something you didn't do?"
