Chapter 764 He is Not Julian
Sophia came back with the ketchup and found Julian playing with Machine Man toys in the living room, but Trevor was nowhere to be seen.
"Julian, where's Dad?"
'Julian' looked up at Sophia, gave her a cold glance, ignored her, and then shouted towards the bedroom, "Dad! The woman who bought the ketchup is back!"
Julian not only ignored her but also called her the woman who bought the ketchup.
Sophia felt annoyed, but she was more puzzled by the fact that Trevor wasn't outside watching Julian!
Trevor never felt comfortable leaving Julian alone. She put down the ketchup and quickly walked towards the bedroom.
She pushed open the door just as Trevor was shutting down his computer.
"Trevor, what were you looking at? How could you leave Julian alone outside? Didn't you say it's dangerous for Julian to be alone at his age?"
Trevor slowly turned his wheelchair around, "You know, as long as he has some Machine Man toys, he won't run around. I was only gone for a moment; it won't be a problem."
Sophia glanced at the computer Trevor had just shut down, and she half-jokingly, half-skeptically said, "Did you come in here just to look at the computer? What's so interesting on the computer that you even left Julian alone for a bit?"
Trevor remained expressionless, "While watching TV with Julian, I saw a commercial for a kindergarten, so I came in to check its credentials."
"Kindergarten?" Sophia paused and frowned. Trevor, the commercials on TV here are for local kindergartens. You don't plan on having Julian attend kindergarten here, do you?"
Trevor replied, "The location doesn't matter; what matters is finding a kindergarten suitable for Julian. He's at the age where he should be attending kindergarten, and we need to prepare for that."
Sophia reminded him, "But once I finish what my Dad asked me to do, we'll be leaving here! How can Julian attend kindergarten here alone? Trevor, I know you're thinking about Julian's future, but there are many excellent kindergartens abroad. Julian can go to any of them!"
Trevor frowned slightly, looking at her with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Julian has spent most of his time at home with me and has had little exposure to the outside world. If we go abroad, he’ll face language barriers, which would make it tough for him to integrate into a kindergarten there. I want him to attend a kindergarten where he can speak his native language."
Since Julian wasn't her biological son, she hadn't focused much on his language education. Additionally, to avoid being discovered by the Melville family, she rarely let him go out and experience new environments.
Language was indeed a barrier she had overlooked!
Sophia thought for a moment and then smiled, "Trevor, our Julian is so smart; learning a new language won't be difficult for him! Besides, there are kindergartens abroad where he can speak his native language. Don't worry, I'll find a kindergarten where he will be happy to go! Let's not consider the ones here; we won't get used to living here!"
Trevor didn't argue with her, "You handle it. I can't go out, so these things will ultimately depend on you."
In fact, he hadn't been checking any kindergarten credentials but had logged into his email to receive contact information for a rehabilitation doctor that Bernard had sent him.
He said that just to divert Sophia's attention; this woman was too suspicious.
Seeing that Trevor didn't seem insistent on staying in the country, Sophia felt a bit better. She didn't want to stay here, didn't like the environment, and feared being discovered by the Melville family.
She walked over and pushed Trevor out, "Trevor, there's no rush about Julian's kindergarten. Once I finish what my dad asked me to do, we'll go back and find the best kindergarten for Julian! We'll shortlist some good ones, and you can make the final choice!"
Trevor just gave a nonchalant "hmm" and didn't say anything more.
Sophia continued, "I bought the ketchup, so I'll go make dinner for you and Julian. I promise it will be better than yesterday! Yesterday was my first time cooking, and it wasn't great. Today, I watched a lot of tutorials, so the food will definitely be better!"
"Thank you."
With that, Trevor wheeled himself to the living room to find Julian.
Sophia was used to Trevor's indifferent attitude towards her. Getting a simple "thank you" was already something.
She glanced towards the living room and then took the ketchup to the kitchen.
The high-end hotel suite had an open kitchen, so while washing vegetables, Sophia could see Trevor and Julian in the living room.
Watching Trevor teach Julian how to play with the building toys, she didn't think anything was wrong until she seemed to hear Julian say to Trevor, "Thank you, Uncle Trevor!"
Uncle Trevor?
Why would Julian suddenly call his father "Uncle Trevor"?
Sophia cast a puzzled look and saw Trevor handing a toy to Julian after helping him assemble it. It was a simple and normal interaction, but it made her feel something was off!
That toy was something she had bought for Julian in Markovia. Julian was very smart and could assemble it himself after fiddling with it a bit. Why did he need Trevor's help today?
Something was wrong!
Julian had been acting strange lately, especially in his attitude towards her.
Julian used to be quiet and never called her "Mommy," but he didn't openly reject her or show disdain, resistance, or hostility.
When she spoke nicely to Julian, he would listen. Overall, they could communicate.
But recently, Julian had almost stopped talking to her, showed obvious disdain, and didn't even show basic respect.
Like just now, Julian called her the woman who bought the ketchup!
The former Julian would never have called her that!
It felt like he wasn't Julian!
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. However, when she looked at Julian's face, she couldn't detect anything amiss.
Looking at the two carrots on the cutting board, Sophia had an idea.
She took the two carrots, shredded them, and mixed them with a salad.
About ten minutes later, Sophia brought the food to the table.
Watching all those tutorials had indeed paid off.
"Trevor, Julian, dinner's ready! Go wash your hands and come taste my cooking today!"
Trevor responded indifferently and took Julian to wash their hands, putting down the toys.
