Chapter 962 Check the Footage
"Since we're getting married, my parents might need you to come with me to visit them later, but I hope you don't let my parents and my sister know about your identity for now."
If they knew she was marrying someone as wealthy as Bernard, they might become greedy, and she worried that would complicate things.
Bernard said, "Okay."
With Bernard being so straightforward, Christina didn't say anything more and directly signed her name on the marriage agreement.
Even though the marriage was only for a year, at least during this year, she wouldn't have to worry about being kicked out of her home with nowhere to go.
Seeing Christina finish signing the agreement, Bernard didn't say another word, stood up, and prepared to go upstairs.
Christina quickly stood up and followed, "Wait, what should I do now?"
"Billy Parker will arrange everything for you," Bernard said, leaving her with that sentence as he went straight upstairs.
Bernard really wasn't much of a talker!
Christina pouted, got up, opened the door, and walked out. Billy was waiting outside, and when he saw her come out, he nodded at her with a slight smile.
"Mr. Mitchell asked me to find you. He said you would arrange things for me?"
Billy nodded, took a folder from the car, and handed it to her, "Mr. Mitchell instructed me to prepare some wedding supplies for you. This is the list I put together. Please check if there's anything else you need."
Christina took the file, which detailed everything a woman might need in her daily life, down to sanitary pads。 "Nothing; it's enough."
"That's good," Billy said without any surprise, as he was always thorough in his work, except for yesterday. "Ms. Russell, I'll take you back to the Russell family now to pack your things."
Christina nodded and got into Billy's car.
She was a bit dazed, staring blankly at the scenery outside the window.
Suddenly, Christina saw the bar from yesterday!
Last night, Cheryl and she had been drinking at this bar, and Cheryl had deliberately gotten her drunk. Maybe the surveillance cameras here had captured something.
"Mr. Parker, please stop the car. I want to go to this bar!"
Billy didn't take orders from others, but since Christina was going to be Bernard's wife for the next year, she was effectively his superior.
Billy thought he should listen to Christina as long as her request wasn't unreasonable.
"Ms. Russell, you can just call me Billy from now on."
"Okay, Billy."
Billy parked the car in the bar's parking lot and went into the bar with her.
The bartender saw them come in and immediately approached, "Sorry, we're cleaning right now, and it's not business hours yet."
"We're not here to drink. I lost something here yesterday and want to check your surveillance footage from last night!"
The bartender looked troubled, "Sorry, we can't let just anyone see our surveillance footage."
Christina knew it wouldn't be easy to see the footage, so she turned to Billy with a pleading look.
Understanding her look, Billy immediately got her meaning, "I'm the assistant to the president of the Mitchell Group. If you can't make the decision, please get your manager."
Hearing the name Mitchell Group, the bartender's expression changed immediately. He led them to a booth and brought them two glasses of water, "Please wait a moment, I'll get our manager right away."
The drastic change in the bartender's attitude showed just how powerful the Mitchell Group was in this city.
Christina suddenly felt a bit nervous. She had never dealt with someone as important as Bernard before, and now she was going to be his wife for a year. She didn't know what to expect in the coming year.
The bar owner soon arrived, smiling at Billy, "Sorry to keep you waiting. I heard you lost something and need to check last night's surveillance footage. Our bar is quite large, and we have a lot of cameras. Could you tell me roughly where you want to check?"
Billy turned to look at Christina.
Christina stood up and pointed to the nearby booth, "Around this area, and the path leading to your hotel."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
The bar owner instructed someone to bring a laptop and played the surveillance footage for them.
Sure enough, the footage clearly showed Cheryl persuading Christina to drink, with all their actions and expressions captured clearly.
The footage of the path to the hotel also showed Cheryl and Hudson talking. Hudson initially wanted Cheryl to go upstairs, but after Cheryl said something to him, he smiled and nodded, then went upstairs alone.
Thinking back, Cheryl must have told Hudson that she would send Christina to his bed later!
Cheryl really was a good sister, always looking out for herself first!
"Please make a copy of this video for me. I need it."
With Bernard involved, the bar owner didn't dare refuse her and didn't ask any questions.
With the surveillance video in hand, Christina and Billy returned to the car and continued to the Russell family.
Billy parked the car at the Russell house and respectfully asked Christina, "Ms. Russell, do you need me to go in with you?"
He had seen Christina and Cheryl arguing this morning and had a rough idea of her situation with her family. He was a bit worried about her.
As Bernard's assistant, if he accompanied her inside, the Russell family would likely show some respect and not make things too difficult for Christina.
Christina found it laughable that she needed Billy to back her up just to return to her own home.
"No need, I'll go in by myself. Please wait for me outside."
Christina declined Billy's kind offer and went inside alone.
The first person Christina ran into was her mother, Renee.
Seeing Christina return, Renee immediately scowled and raised her hand to slap her, "How dare you come back? Do you know I got scolded by your dad because of you? He still won't talk to me!"
The slap brought tears to Christina's eyes. Her face didn't hurt, but her heart did!
She hadn't been home for so long, and Renee didn't show any concern, only blamed her and hit her.
Christina quickly wiped away her tears, stubbornly glanced at Renee, didn't want to talk or explain, and went straight to her room to pack her things.
"Christina, what are you doing? Are you really moving out to be a homewrecker?" Renee followed her in, angrily questioning her as she packed.
Christina ignored her and quickly packed her belongings.
Many of her things had been hand-me-downs from Cheryl since she was a child, so she didn't need to take them.
