Chapter 53 The Season of Love

Party houses are often the choice for student gatherings. Such places, however, seem rather childish to the business elites and wealthy.

Hilton glanced around the fancy decorations inside the party house and said, "Alex, when did you become so immature? Can't believe you'd want to hang out in a place like this."

Alexander lazily sat on the uncomfortable sofa in the private room, looked up at him, and replied, "If you don't want to stay here, you're free to go wherever you please."

Hilton shrugged and said, "Since I'm already here, I don't plan on leaving!"

Isaac walked over, handed a drink to Alexander, and elegantly clinked glasses with him. While sipping his drink, he looked at Hilton and said, "Our previous gatherings were either at bars or clubs, and they weren't that exciting. This place is quite refreshing, I must say."

"Indeed!" Hilton chuckled, joined them at the table, and raised his glass. "Let's consider today as a way to reminisce about our student days!"

In reality, they never visited such low-end places during their school days.

Isaac took a sip of his drink and remarked, "It seems like the private room across is filled with college students having a lively party."

Hilton glanced outside, smiled, and exclaimed, "It's graduation season, and these college students are probably having their final celebrations! Graduation season is the season of love!"

Isaac raised an eyebrow and said, "I've only heard that graduation season is the season of breakups. When did it become the season of love?"

Hilton laughed, "Isaac, you don't understand, do you?"

"Breakups happen because couples have to go to different cities for their future. But those guys and girls who stay in the same city easily become couples!"

"Graduation season is the perfect time for confessions. Many guys choose to confess their feelings to the girls they admire on the day of the graduation ceremony. If their confession is successful, that's great! If they fail, they won't have to face each other on campus anymore, avoiding unnecessary awkwardness!"

Isaac glanced at him and asked, "How do you know all this? Did you confess to someone on your graduation day?"

Hilton smirked and replied, "Don't be ridiculous! Why would I need to confess? When have I ever lacked women?"

Alexander narrowed his eyes and swirled the drink in his hand, lost in thought.

Graduation, confessions?

He remembered this morning at Janetrick University, a male classmate called Katherine over and gave her a button with a special meaning. They talked for a while.

Katherine was beautiful, and many guys pursued her.

It wouldn't be surprising if someone confessed to her.

The temperature of the drink in his hand, already chilled with ice, seemed to drop another degree.

Hilton raised his glass and sighed, "Speaking of which, I do miss our school days. We were so carefree back then..."

"Excuse me!" Alexander put down his glass, suddenly stood up, and walked out...

Hilton was taken aback, exchanged a puzzled look with Isaac, and then shouted, "Alexander, what's wrong? Where are you going?"

"I have to take a call; you guys carry on," Alexander replied indifferently.

"Alright!" Hilton didn't pay much attention, clinked glasses with Isaac, and they continued their conversation.

Alexander answered the call from Leander and learned that Sandra had already eaten and gone to sleep. He felt relieved.

After hanging up the phone, instead of immediately turning back to the private room, he squinted and looked at the door of the opposite private room, his gaze deep.

The soundproofing of this place wasn't that great, and the room echoed with the young people singing popular songs at the top of their lungs.

At that moment, a young man rushed out of the private room to answer a call, leaving the door ajar.

Through the half-open door, Alexander saw Katherine sitting inside.

Perhaps due to the loud music, Katherine was leaning in to listen to a male classmate talking to her. They were so close that their faces were almost touching.

But then another girl closed the door!

With the door shut, Alex had no choice but to step aside...

Alexander lowered his head and took a puff of his cigar, leaning against the wall, surrounded by smoke.

Inside the private room, electronic music and ambient lights blended together, creating a lively and noisy atmosphere.

"Katherine, what kind of job do you plan to do after graduation?"

Despite being so close, Nathan still had to shout for others to hear.

After hearing Nathan's question clearly, Katherine sat up straight and raised her voice to reply, "I haven't decided yet! But Nathan, you're not a graduate this year, so why are you here?"

Nathan felt a bit embarrassed and pursed his lips. "Uh... I have a few good friends who are graduating seniors, and they invited me to come along."

Katherine nodded, indicating that she understood.

However, Nathan was actually there for her.

After Katherine's graduation, it wouldn't be easy for him to see her again.

He had been secretly in love with Katherine for three years, ever since he first saw her when he started his freshman year.

This morning, he finally gathered the courage to express his feelings, but he was gently rejected by Katherine.

But he didn't give up. As long as Katherine remained single, he still had a chance.

"Katherine, let me propose a toast to you! Wishing you a bright future." Nathan picked up two glasses of wine and handed one to Katherine.

Katherine took the beautifully colored cocktail and smiled. "Thank you! And I wish you all the best too, work hard for yourself!"

The clinking of the glasses made a crisp sound, but it was drowned out by the noisy electronic music.

Katherine smiled, raising her glass, the clear and sweet drink not yet reaching her lips. Suddenly, a slender hand with distinct knuckles appeared out of nowhere and took her glass away.

"A girl like you is not allowed to drink outside."

Katherine looked up and saw Alexander's stern and serious face.

She was first surprised, then a hint of annoyance crept onto her face. "Alex, why are you still here?"

Alexander noticed the clear disdain and resistance on the girl's face.

"I'm here to take you home," he said coldly.

His voice wasn't loud but deep and resonant, cutting through the noisy environment and reaching her ears.

Take her home? But she had only been here for half an hour!

"What time is it? Alex, I've already told you that we have a class reunion today. I'll stay a bit longer before going back, okay?" Katherine found it hard to understand.

"Why do you think it's okay to drink outside just because it's a class reunion?" Alexander furrowed his brow.

Katherine didn't know how to respond.

Alexander was too controlling! She knew her own limits when it came to alcohol. If she was in a good mood, what was wrong with having a drink with her classmates?

Nathan, standing nearby, watched the imposing man with a dazed expression. He had met Alexander in the morning. He seemed to be someone important in Katherine's family.

Hastily, Nathan stood up and explained, "Alex, please don't worry! This is a low-alcohol cocktail, and even if Katherine drinks too much, I will make sure she gets home safely!"

Alexander was somewhat surprised. "You'll take her home?"

Nathan nodded. "Yes! So, Alex, you can rest assured and go back. Leave Katherine to me!"

Alexander smiled faintly. "Leave her to you? Who are you to her?"
