Chapter 730 I Want to Go Out for Some Fresh Air

Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and calmly replied, "Fiona said that Katherine ran into Sophia when she went to pick up the kids today."

Frank's expression froze. "When did Sophia return to the country? Our people didn't even notice."

Ambrosia squinted thoughtfully. "Obviously, she's been aware that we've been watching her all these years. She has strong counter-surveillance skills, and with her family's influence in Markovia, she could easily avoid our detection and return secretly. According to Fiona, she claims to be married and was holding a child. Fiona came to us to investigate the identity of Sophia's husband."

Frank sat down across from Ambrosia. "She got married so quietly? Our people have been watching her, but we've never heard of any man around her! Could it be..."

Ambrosia knew what Frank was suspecting. "We can't make any judgments yet. Send someone to find out which hotel Sophia is staying at, who her husband is, and what her purpose is for returning this time."

Frank made an OK gesture. "Leave it to me."

He then got up to make a phone call. A few minutes later, he came back and said, "Found it. Sophia and her family are staying at a Hotel downtown. They are accompanied by Brent's most professional bodyguards, about a dozen of them."

So many bodyguards? Was she a bit paranoid? What was she afraid of?

Ambrosia raised an eyebrow. "Any information on her husband's identity?"

Frank shook his head. "Nothing useful yet, just a name: Trevor Turner."

Hearing that Sophia's husband's name was Trevor, Ambrosia's eyes showed a hint of disappointment.

So he wasn't Alex they had been searching for all these years!

Frank continued, "We also got reliable information that Brent is planning to retire and hand over the entire family business to his daughter Sophia. Sophia is willing to take over Brent's company. This time, she returned to sell some assets here and will completely abandon this market, never to return."

So that was it.

Ambrosia pondered. The market here had great potential, yet she wanted to sell everything.

In the hotel, Alex finished his bath an hour later.

With difficulty moving his legs, he struggled to get out of the bathtub and dress himself, which took most of his energy and time.

He sat back in his wheelchair, roughly dried his hair, and then opened the bathroom door.

Sophia had already fed and put Julian to sleep.

Seeing Alex all cleaned up, she frowned in disappointment and said, "Trevor, I know you care a lot about your physical limitations, but we are husband and wife. I won't mind. It's dangerous for you to bathe alone. You don't have to avoid me; let me take care of you."

Alex wheeled himself to the bedside, looking deeply at his sleeping son. "I just don't want to be a burden to you."

Sophia couldn't hide her sadness and raised her voice slightly. "You're not a burden to me. I'm here for you, always."

The child on the bed frowned, seemingly disturbed.

Alex frowned and put a finger to his lips, signaling her to be quiet.

He then gently patted Julian to help him sleep soundly.

Julian's frown gradually relaxed, and he breathed evenly, falling into a deep sleep.

Sophia, afraid of waking the child she had just put to sleep, sighed and whispered, "Alright, Julian is asleep. We can go out to eat now. I just had the hotel send up some wine and steak."

Alex raised his hand. "You go ahead. I'm not hungry."

Sophia frowned. "You didn't have lunch. How can you not be hungry?"

Alex said, "You eat first. I'll go out and eat when I get hungry."

Sophia felt a bit upset, sensing that Alex was deliberately avoiding eating with her.

But she had no choice. Arguing with Alex about whether to eat together might wake Julian, so she turned and went out to eat alone.

"Sophia." Just as she turned, she heard Alex's deep voice call her name.

Sophia turned back, somewhat surprised. "Trevor, what is it?"

Trevor looked at her with his deep, dark eyes. "I want to go out for some fresh air tomorrow. Staying in the hotel all day is too stifling."

Sophia was taken aback, a hint of wariness in her eyes. "Trevor, the air here isn't as fresh as in Markovia. I'm worried that taking you out might cause an allergic reaction."

Trevor seemed unfazed by her response, as if he had expected it.

But he still insisted on going out for some fresh air. "Do you really think I'm that fragile? If you keep treating me like this, I might never stand up again."

Sophia raised an eyebrow, seeing the determination in Alex's eyes. After thinking for a moment, she nodded. "Alright. Tomorrow morning, I'll go discuss the acquisition with the company here. In the afternoon, I'll come back to take you and Julian out for a walk."

"Okay, thank you." Alex's tone remained neutral as he thanked her.

But this thank you made Sophia feel very distant. Between husband and wife, there shouldn't be such formality.

The next day, which was a weekend, the weather was great.

After breakfast, Fiona said she wanted to take George, Edith, and Charles out for a picnic to enjoy the spring weather.

Katherine, engrossed in her laptop, was busy keeping up with real-time business news and seemed uninterested.

But when George, Edith, and Charles gathered around her, their eyes full of hope, she felt a tug at her heart.

She looked up from the laptop, meeting their eager gazes, and after a moment of internal struggle, she couldn't resist their pleading looks.

With a sigh, she closed her laptop. "Alright! I'll go out with you! Your aunt doesn't know anything else but how to drag you out to play all day!"

Fiona walked over, pouting. "Katherine, I'm doing this for their good! Think about it, they don't have homework in kindergarten, and weekends at home are so boring. It's better to take this time to go out and play. Once they start elementary school, they'll have so much homework on weekends that they won't have time to play! Plus, you're always busy with work. It's finally the weekend, and we can all relax and have fun together. What's wrong with that?"

Katherine glanced at her disdainfully. "So, you're leading the picnic. Have you prepared the food?"
