Chapter 419 Apologize
Katherine led Charles out of the room, with Billy still guarding the door, leaning against the wall and checking his phone.
When the door opened, Billy straightened up, showing respect to his boss.
Seeing Katherine with Charles, Billy was surprised. What was going on?
He had been guarding the door, making sure no one disturbed Ms. Galatea. How did Charles get inside?
"Ms. Galatea, how did Charles end up in your room?"
Katherine replied calmly, "I don't know. I just saw him run in from the balcony."
Billy felt it couldn't have been his fault. He said respectfully, "I'm sorry for the disturbance. I'll take him off your hands. Please go ahead and have your meal!"
Katherine nodded and led Charles to Billy.
But Charles clung tightly to Katherine's hand, not wanting to let go.
He had just had a restful sleep in the room, something he hadn't had in a long time. He had been having nightmares every day.
Katherine had been gently patting him and singing lullabies, making him feel relaxed and at ease.
She was a good person, not a bad person like Mom said!
He wanted to stay with her.
Seeing this, Billy worried Charles might upset Katherine and quickly said, "Charles, come here. I'll take you to your mom!"
Hearing the word "mom," Charles clung even tighter to Katherine's hand.
Katherine touched Charles's head and gently said, "Do you remember what I told you?"
Charles was stunned for a moment, then nodded and obediently let go of her hand, walking over to Billy.
Billy was stunned. Charles, who had recently been ignoring Scarlett, listened to Katherine. It was incredible.
Billy picked up Charles and took him back to Scarlett.
Katherine watched Charles being taken away, feeling a bit worried. She hoped he could stay calm!
Downstairs, the dining table was filled with a feast fit for royalty.
But no one was at the table. Vincent and Hellen hadn't arrived, and Bernard wasn't there either.
Katherine walked over, pulled out a chair, and sat down to check her phone while waiting.
"What are you doing here? Who allowed you to sit here?"
Katherine had just sat down when she heard an angry, sharp voice.
She looked up to see Alice, now dressed in a luxurious outfit.
Alice had just come from the kitchen and was immediately displeased to see her son's tutor at the dining table.
Alice thought, 'What right does she have to sit at the Mitchell family's table?'
Katherine raised an eyebrow calmly. "What's the matter, Alice? Can't I sit here?"
Alice said angrily, "Who are you? You're just a tutor, and you want to eat at the Mitchell family's table? You should know your place! Get up now! This table is for our distinguished guest!"
Katherine smiled, not moving, and picked up the delicate glass of water on the table to drink.
"What are you doing? I told you to get up! How dare you drink the water here? What kind of tutor are you? Have you even finished teaching my son's lessons? If you don't get up, I'll fire you!"
Alice moved to grab Katherine's arm, trying to pull her up.
"Alice! Who are you talking to?"
Alice froze and looked over.
She saw Bernard supporting Vincent and Scarlett supporting Hellen as they walked over. It was Vincent who had called her name.
Alice explained, "Dad, an outsider is sitting here, and I was just about to drive her away!"
Vincent and Hellen frowned. Bernard also looked displeased.
Alice sensed the tension but didn't understand why.
Scarlett, annoyed, said, "Mom, what are you doing? Let go of Katherine. She's Grandpa's lifesaver!"
What?!
Alice was stunned, looking at Katherine. "She... she is..."
She suddenly remembered the tutor's last name was also Galatea. So she was Katherine!
Katherine had tricked her. No wonder Scarlett couldn't handle her!
Alice quickly smiled, trying to recover. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know she was the lifesaver. I thought she was Sunny's tutor!"
After helping his grandfather to his seat, Bernard walked over to Katherine and asked gently, "Why didn't you say anything? Were you scared?"
Usually, Katherine would brush it off.
But Alice had intruded on her parents' marriage. Being kind to her would be unfair to her mom!
So, Katherine lowered her eyelashes, looking frightened, and nodded. "I was just a bit thirsty and wanted some water. I don't know why this lady came over so aggressively and said I wasn't qualified to sit here."
Playing the innocent victim wasn't something only Scarlett and her mother could do!
But Katherine usually disdained such tricks.
However, to deal with people like them, she had to use their methods!
Bernard, feeling guilty and indebted to his long-lost sister, saw Katherine wronged and felt a sharp pain in his chest. He sternly said to his stepmother, "Alice, it's your fault for scaring our guest. Please apologize to her!"
Alice was stunned. What?! She had already apologized; wasn't that enough?
And what was Bernard's attitude? How could he speak to her, an elder, like that in front of everyone?
After helping Hellen to her seat, Scarlett walked over to defend her mother. "Bernard, Mom didn't do it on purpose. She already explained this to Katherine. I don't think she holds a grudge and demand an apology from an elder. Right, Katherine?"
Katherine just glanced at Scarlett and ignored her two-faced comment.
Bernard remained firm. "No matter who it is, if they scare an important guest in our home, they must apologize!"
Scarlett's face turned very ugly, feeling humiliated. Bernard had never been like this before!
