Chapter 692 Intimate Conversation
Katherine just gave a slight nod and kept eating.
At the table, besides Katherine and Bernard, there was Sunny and Teresa, who had crashed there overnight.
Teresa couldn't help but feel a bit jealous for Alex, seeing how Bernard was all about Katherine. She shot Bernard a wary look.
Bernard noticed Teresa's unfriendly vibe but shrugged it off. After breakfast, he wiped his mouth with a napkin, stood up, and said goodbye to Katherine before heading out.
As soon as Bernard left, Teresa couldn't hold back. "Katherine, don't you think Bernard's acting kinda weird around you?"
Katherine didn't give it much thought. "Is he?"
Teresa nodded like crazy. "Yeah. The way he looks at you is so gentle, even more than when he looks at Sunny. I think he might have a thing for you. You shouldn't stay here. If you don't want to go to the Melville family, come crash at my place."
Katherine, feeling full and content, stood up and patted Teresa's head. "Just go home when you're done eating. Don't worry about my stuff."
Teresa furrowed her brow. "How can I not worry? Bernard and Jonathan are both vying for your attention. I feel sorry for Alex. Katherine, you're too captivating."
Katherine, a bit helpless, forced a smile and looked at Sunny, who was still munching on a sandwich. "When you head to school later, take her with you and have the driver drop her off."
Sunny raised his hand and gave an OK sign.
Then, Katherine wandered into the garden to soak up some sun.
Not getting any juicy info from Katherine, Teresa turned to Sunny. "Spill it. Has Bernard been into Katherine for a while? Did he sweet-talk her into staying here?"
Sunny rolled his eyes. "You're overthinking it."
Teresa's eyes went wide. "Then why is Bernard so nice to Katherine? I've never seen him so attentive to any woman before."
Sunny remembered Bernard's warning not to spill the beans about Katherine's identity, so he said, "Does it always have to be romantic for a guy to care about a girl? Can't it just be pure friendship? Look at me, I have no feelings for you."
Teresa gave him a disdainful look. "Whatever. I have no feelings for you either. But I wouldn't consider you a good friend, let alone care about you that much."
Sunny didn't want to argue. "Anyway, it's not what you think. Are you full? If you are, let's go. Katherine asked me to take you along, and I have to follow orders."
Teresa seemed to catch on to something. "Wait. That's not right. Sunny, didn't you used to hate Katherine the most? You even said she was a schemer, trying to steal Alex from Scarlett. Why are you so obedient to her now?"
A hint of guilt flashed in Sunny's eyes. "Well, who hasn't misjudged people and done some dumb stuff when they were young? I misunderstood Katherine before. Now that I know her better, of course, I respect her. Enough with the questions. Are you coming or not?"
Teresa checked the time. She had some things to do and should be leaving.
Anyway, she was sharing a ride with Sunny, so she could grill him more on the way.
So she got up to follow Sunny out and hopped into the Mitchell family car.
Once inside, Sunny instructed the driver, "Let's head to school first, and then drop off Ms. Harris at the Harris mansion."
The driver nodded and said, "Yes, Mr. Sunny Mitchell."
But Teresa had other plans. "No, I'm not going home. Take me to the Crescent Group."
Hearing that, Sunny perked up. "Why are you heading to the Crescent Group so early?"
Thinking about her last call with Anthony, Teresa felt uneasy and wanted to clear things up. "I'm meeting someone. Got some business."
The driver started the car slowly. "Mr. Sunny Mitchell, should I take you to school first or Ms. Harris?"
The Crescent Group was closer than Sunny's school.
Sunny didn't hesitate. "I've got time, take her first."
"Yes, Mr. Sunny Mitchell."
The car headed towards the Crescent Group.
Sunny crossed his arms. "Let me guess, you're going to see Frank, right?"
Teresa frowned at the mention of Frank. "No. It's none of your business, don't guess."
Sunny raised his chin arrogantly. "Come on, stop pretending. I already figured it out. You like Frank, don't you?"
Teresa glared at him, annoyed. "I'm not pretending, I'm really not going to see Frank."
Sunny snorted, "If not him, then who? Admit it, I won't laugh. Actually, I'd be happy. If you can get Frank, I'd be more at ease."
Teresa was puzzled, asking, "At ease? Why?"
Sunny blushed a bit. "Because of my girlfriend. Ambrosia lives with Frank every day, and I've been uneasy for a long time. Frank doesn't seem like a good guy. He's flaky. I hope you can get him quickly, so he stays away from my Ambrosia."
Teresa sneered, "I think you're overthinking. Mr. Perez and Ms. Hawthorne are like family; they've lived together since they were kids. Nothing you worry about will happen. Even if Frank is flaky, he has principles, and he's not as bad as you think."
Sunny narrowed his eyes. "You still claim you don't like him? I just said he's a bit flaky, and you're already getting defensive? If that's not a crush, then what is?"
Teresa glared at him.
Sunny had an annoying smirk. "What? Mad because I hit the mark?"
Teresa was so angry she wanted to punch him, but just then, the car reached the Crescent Group, and she saw Ambrosia at the entrance through the window. "Sunny, I think you're the one with wishful thinking. You call yourself Ms. Hawthorne's boyfriend, but she probably doesn't even acknowledge you."
Sunny confidently crossed his arms. "Ridiculous. Me, wishful thinking? Ambrosia likes me, and I like her. If we're not boyfriend and girlfriend, then what are we?"
Teresa pouted and pointed to the window behind him. "Why don't you turn around and look outside before you speak?"
"Look at what?" Sunny thought Teresa was being mysterious, but he turned his head to look, and his face instantly froze, his pupils contracting sharply.
At the entrance of the Crescent Group, Ambrosia was standing with a man, talking intimately.
