Chapter 87 Mr. Melville Must Like Her

"Whatever," he answered.

Alex's cold tone showed no interest in the meal, yet he didn't refuse either.

Sherry didn't overthink the man's indifferent attitude; she was just thrilled to have lunch with someone of Alex.

"Then let's go to Taste of the Clouds. The food there is really good," she added.

Taste of the Clouds was one of the top high-end restaurants in Janetrick, and it was extremely expensive. Sherry wouldn't normally splurge on a meal there unless it was to treat someone as important as Alex.

Alex responded expressionlessly and turned to walk toward the lobby entrance.

As Sherry followed Alex, she turned her head and called to Katherine, "Hurry up and catch up! Do you want to keep Mr. Melville waiting?"

Katherine frowned helplessly and followed.

Since Frank had picked them up earlier and they didn't drive, Sherry and Katherine naturally hitched a ride with Alex to the restaurant.

Sherry was more than happy to ride in Mr. Melville's luxury car.

Leander walked over first to open the door of the top-tier luxury car, a Maserati, while Alex stood aside without getting in, seemingly waiting for someone.

Sherry's heart raced, and she couldn't help but think romantically. She walked over gracefully and said, "Mr. Melville, why don't you get in first?"

Alex glanced at her and said indifferently, "You first."

Sherry's heart pounded, and she was overjoyed. It wasn't just her imagination; Mr. Melville was indeed waiting for her to get in first.

Mr. Melville was so gentlemanly to her. Alex clearly wasn't gentlemanly to every woman, but he was willing to let her get in first. What did that mean?

It meant Mr. Melville had feelings for her too.

"Thank you, Mr. Melville!" Sherry accepted the man's kindness with a coquettish smile. She got into the car first and eagerly awaited Mr. Melville to sit next to her.

Unexpectedly, Alex still didn't get in but turned to look at Katherine, who was standing obediently on the side. Seeing her standing there dumbly, Alex frowned and said coldly, "Get in!"

It was a tone like a parent scolding a child.

Katherine pouted, "Oh..."

After Katherine got in and sat down, Alex finally bent down and got into the car.

Sherry had thought she could sit next to Mr. Melville, but her expectation was dashed, leaving her very unhappy.

The more Sherry looked at Katherine sitting in the middle, the angrier she got. But she couldn't throw a tantrum openly, so she reached behind Katherine's waist and pinched her hard to vent her frustration.

Katherine wasn't prepared for this and winced in pain, instinctively leaning to the other side, accidentally bumping into Alex's chest.

Alex raised his arm to steady her shoulder, frowned, and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"

Katherine quickly realized what had happened and immediately wanted to distance herself from him, but the man held her shoulder firmly.

Katherine thought, 'What is Alex doing? Let go! Didn't they agree to pretend not to know each other in front of Sherry?'

Seeing Katherine so close to Alex, Sherry was even more annoyed. She gritted her teeth and fake-smiled. "Katherine, what are you doing? You're pushing into Mr. Melville. Move over a bit!"

Katherine glanced at the hypocritical instigator Sherry, then looked up at the man and said, "Sorry, Mr. Melville. I don't know what poked me just now. I didn't mean to..."

As she spoke, Katherine's eyes sparkled, signaling Alex to remember his promise to her. Alex was silent for two seconds before finally lifting his hand and releasing her shoulder.

Katherine quickly moved back to her original position, instinctively rubbing her sore lower back where she had been pinched.

The man observed her movements without a word, narrowing his eyes slightly.

Once Katherine sat properly, Sherry didn't dare to make any more moves, fearing it might backfire and give Katherine another chance to lean on Mr. Melville.

Sherry thought, 'So frustrating!'

'That shameless little tramp Katherine is always trying to get close to Alex whenever she has the chance.'

The restaurant Sherry chose, Taste of the Clouds, was also in the city center, just a ten-minute drive away.

They walked into the restaurant and were guided to their seats by the host.

Sherry then stood up coquettishly and said, "Mr. Melville, you go ahead and order. I'll be right back after a quick trip to the restroom."

Alex nodded indifferently, his aloof gaze not lingering on Sherry for even a second.

Sherry then turned to Katherine and said, "Katherine, come with me."

Sherry asking Katherine to accompany her was just an excuse; she was actually afraid that if she left, this little tramp Katherine would seize the opportunity to seduce Mr. Melville.

Katherine nonchalantly nodded and got up to follow her.

In the restroom, Sherry was touching up her makeup in front of the mirror, glaring contemptuously at Katherine who was standing aside and holding her bag. She sneered, "Katherine, don't you dare think that just because Mr. Perez from the Crescent Group likes you, Mr. Melville would be interested in a country girl like you!"

Katherine looked bored and smirked, "I don't think that way."

Sherry closed her powder foundation and turned to give a harsh warning. "You better not think that way. I advise you to know your place."

Katherine found it rather baffling and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Sherry, what are you talking about? How do I not know my place?"

Sherry took out a lipstick from her makeup bag, twisted it out, and prepared to apply it while scoffing, "Can't you see? Mr. Melville's face darkens every time he sees you. I bet it's because he's still mad about you offending him yesterday."

Katherine sighed helplessly. "I took the day off and said I wouldn't come, but you insisted I come."

Sherry glared at her disdainfully and snapped, "I wanted you to come to show your sincerity in apologizing to Mr. Melville. But Mr. Melville doesn't want to see you all the time. So, you stay here in the restroom and pretend you have a stomachache. Could you not come back until I call you? Otherwise, you'll ruin Mr. Melville's appetite."

Katherine readily agreed and made an OK gesture. "Fine, no problem!"

Katherine wanted to stay away from Alex anyway. If it weren't for Sherry insisting she come along, she would be home taking a nap by now.

After freshening up, Sherry snatched her branded bag from Katherine's hand and stuffed her cosmetics inside. Before leaving, she threatened, "Stay here and behave. If you dare to come back without my permission, see how I'll deal with you!"

Katherine nodded obediently and answered, "Got it."

After Sherry left, Katherine also exited the restroom. She didn't want to return to the table and join Alex and Sherry for lunch, but she also had no interest in staying in the restroom and smelling the odors.

She went to a quiet stairwell and called Frank to ask what he meant earlier.

Frank answered quickly, "Katherine, you miss me already?"

Katherine rolled her eyes. "Miss you..."

Before Katherine could finish her sentence, she was interrupted.

"Who are you calling?" Alex questioned coldly.

Alex's cold and stern voice suddenly rang out from behind, startling Katherine.
