Chapter 356 You're Such a Good Actress!
Seeing Katherine approach, Scarlett clutched Charles' "body" tighter, looking like a threatened victim, and cried out.
"Katherine, what do you want now? Charles is already gone. Leave us alone! Don't come any closer!"
Katherine didn't waste any words and pulled Scarlett's hands off the child. "Move. I need to see if your son can still be saved!"
Scarlett was shocked, then got even more defensive. "What? You want to see if Charles can be saved? Katherine, you're such a good actress! You killed him, and now that Bernard's called the cops, you pretend to save him? How fake can you be?
Are you trying to destroy evidence before the police get here?
Bernard! She's trying to hurt Charles. Help me get her out of here!"
"Katherine, stop right now!" Bernard said sternly, stepping forward to protect his sister, but Alex blocked him with an arm.
Bernard stopped, squinting in displeasure. "Alex, can't you see what she's doing? She doesn't even respect the body!"
Alex stayed expressionless. "It's not your place to touch her!"
Frustrated, Bernard pushed Alex's arm aside and rushed forward.
By then, Katherine had grabbed Charles' small hand and felt a faint pulse.
She turned and said, "Alex! Call an ambulance!"
Alex didn't hesitate. He let Bernard pass and called emergency services.
By the time Bernard reached Scarlett, Katherine had already stood up and walked away.
Katherine scanned the crowd, looking for someone useful, and spotted Bernard's confidant, Billy, nearby. She quickly approached him.
The Mitchells' servants disliked her and wouldn't listen, but Billy had worked with her before. Despite being Bernard's confidant, he was a decent person and might help.
She walked up to Billy and said seriously, "Billy, do you know if there's any Heal Guard Balm?"
Heal Guard Balm is a common antibiotic ointment for skin infections, usually kept in households.
Billy looked at her warily and confusedly. "There should be."
Katherine asked, "Then please find a bottle as quickly as possible!"
Billy frowned, glanced at Bernard for approval, but Bernard was busy comforting his family and didn't respond.
Seeing this, Billy thought for a moment, then nodded to Katherine. "Wait here."
He quickly went to find the ointment.
As Billy left, Katherine exchanged a glance with Alex, who nodded slightly.
The ambulance was on its way.
They understood each other without words.
Katherine walked over to Scarlett, intending to lay Charles flat on the ground.
Scarlett clung to Charles, playing the victim in Bernard's arms. "Don't touch my child! Katherine, please, don't hurt him anymore!"
Katherine, unfazed, said calmly, "I might still be able to save Charles. If you truly love him, you should let me lay him flat."
As expected, Scarlett wouldn't cooperate!
She didn't believe Katherine could revive Charles, and even if she did, she didn't want him to come back to life!
Seeing Scarlett still unwilling, Katherine decided to take the child herself. Charles was already very weak, and being held so tightly by Scarlett could suffocate him!
Afraid Katherine would take him, Scarlett clung tighter and burrowed into Bernard's arms. "Bernard! She's trying to take my child, save me."
Bernard, losing patience, pushed Katherine away and scolded, "Katherine, haven't you had enough? Didn't your parents teach you basic manners? Don't you understand respect for the dead?"
Even with a steady stance, Katherine couldn't withstand such a strong push and fell backward!
Luckily, Alex was right behind her and caught her in time.
After steadying Katherine, Alex glared at Bernard with a dangerous coldness.
Katherine knew Alex was angry and quickly pulled his hand, signaling him to stay calm. Now wasn't the time for a confrontation. Saving Charles was the priority!
Ignoring Scarlett, Katherine addressed Bernard directly, "If you want Charles to live, you should listen to me!"
Bernard frowned in disgust. "Katherine, do you think this is a joke?"
How could he believe Katherine could bring a dead child back to life?
Katherine, knowing he wouldn't believe her, said, "If he lives, everyone will be happy. If not, you can hold me accountable. So why not give it a try, just in case?"
Seeing Katherine's serious expression and her words making some sense, Bernard hesitated, then held Scarlett's shoulders and persuaded her, "Scarlett, Charles is already like this, why not let her try?"
Scarlett was reluctant. "Bernard, but..."
Bernard patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, if she can't save Charles, I'll make her pay twice as much and make sure Charles gets justice!"
With Bernard's assurance, Scarlett reluctantly let go of Charles and laid him flat on the ground as Katherine instructed.
She was actually a bit worried. Could Katherine really know about medicine? Could she really revive Charles?
If Charles came back to life, wouldn't he reveal the truth about his head injury?
No, that's impossible!
How could Katherine revive a dead person? She was just putting on a show!
Scarlett secretly sneered, eager to see what tricks Katherine would try.
