Chapter 454 That's Not Bullying
Alex chuckled, "You call that bullying?"
Katherine pouted, "Ignoring others and only thinking about yourself is bullying!"
Seeing her upset after a nightmare, he gently pressed his forehead to hers and said softly, "Alright, it's all my fault, in dreams and reality. Don't be mad, okay?"
That deep, magnetic "Honey" made Katherine's heart skip a beat.
She looked into his eyes; he seemed so sincere, no hint of deceit.
She wanted to ask why he didn't want to get a marriage license with her.
But she figured asking in bed wouldn't get her an honest answer.
He might even think she was desperate for it...
Or he might say, "If you want it, let's get it?"
That would make it seem like she was pushing for it, which she didn't like.
She wanted more than just a piece of paper.
The more she thought about it, the more pointless it seemed. Feeling unromantic, she said, "Alex, you should leave!"
He frowned, "It's so late, where do you want me to go?"
Katherine, lacking enthusiasm, pushed him, "Go sleep in the guest room or the study! I want to sleep well tonight."
Alex was reluctant, cupping her cheeks and gently scraping with his fingers, "I promise I won't bother you, so you can sleep well."
"I don't believe you!" Katherine raised her eyebrows and moved her knee to touch his lower half, making it clear why she didn't trust him.
Alex frowned; just that touch almost made him lose control.
Katherine was truly a little tormentor!
In the end, he got out of bed but didn't leave; he went to the bathroom.
After some time, he came out, having taken a cold shower, his hair still wet.
Katherine was already asleep, hugging the blanket, but her brows were furrowed, as if she was having a bad dream.
He walked over, laid her flat, and gently smoothed her furrowed brows with his fingers.
Then he checked the time, calculated the time difference, and picked up the phone from the bedside table. He went to the balcony and dialed an international number, "When are you coming back?"
A woman's voice, bright and cheerful, answered, "Why, do you miss me?"
The next day.
When Katherine woke up, Alex had already gone to work.
She instinctively reached for her phone to check for messages, but there was nothing from Alex. No breakfast reminder like usual.
Katherine stared blankly for a while, then got up to wash.
As she went downstairs for breakfast, she met Fiona bouncing up the stairs.
Fiona was humming a tune and greeted her, "Morning, Katherine!"
As they walked downstairs together, Katherine raised an eyebrow, "You're in a good mood today?"
Fiona couldn't hide her joy, "Not bad!"
At the dining table, Katherine noticed Fiona still in her happy world and asked, "Where's the bag you bought yesterday?"
Fiona's joy vanished, "My bag! I left it at the BBQ place yesterday and forgot to take it! What should I do? It must have been picked up by someone! I really liked it!"
Anton smiled, "Ms. Melville, don't worry. Mrs. Melville brought your new bag back yesterday and put it in your closet."
Fiona sighed in relief, then frowned at Katherine, "Katherine, you tricked me again!"
Katherine took a sip of her porridge and asked, "What time did you and Nathan finish handing out flyers yesterday?"
Fiona blushed at the mention of Nathan, "Around eight o'clock."
Katherine smirked, "Usually, there are no people at the school gate after six, right? Where did you two go afterward?"
"We just walked around," Fiona said shyly, lowering her head to eat.
Anton came over to refill Katherine's glass and whispered, "Mrs. Melville, the bodyguard saw Ms. Melville and a boy eating at a street stall yesterday. That boy even walked her to the door."
No wonder Fiona was in such a good mood today; things were going well!
Katherine wasn't surprised. Nathan was well-mannered and wouldn't let a girl go home alone.
Fiona suddenly remembered, "Oh, Katherine, Grandparents are coming back in a couple of days!"
Katherine responded indifferently, sipping her oatmeal, without any special reaction.
She had met Sandra, who was very kind.
She hadn't met Jackie yet, but it was said he had forced Alex to get married, refusing surgery otherwise.
Seeing Katherine's lack of interest, Fiona frowned and added, "Sandra likes you, but Jackie has high standards. He might not be satisfied with you as his granddaughter-in-law! You should prepare yourself mentally!"
"Thanks for the reminder." Katherine continued drinking her oatmeal, still looking uninterested.
What kind of mental preparation should she make?
It wasn't even certain if they would be a family in the future!
Just go with the flow!
At that moment, a servant came in and announced, "Mrs. Melville, someone claiming to be your classmate is here to see you."
Before Katherine could react, Fiona became alert, "Is it a man or a woman?"
The servant replied, "It's a male classmate."
Fiona frowned, "Katherine, what's going on? You're inviting men over when my brother's not home again!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow, "Why are you more jealous than your brother? Can't I have a normal male friend?"
Fiona blinked awkwardly and arrogantly raised her chin, "Hmph! Who's jealous of you? Wishful thinking!"
Katherine ignored her and turned to the servant, "If he's here to see me, invite him in."
"Yes, ma'am." The servant obeyed and left.
Soon, Nathan was led in by the servant.
As soon as Fiona saw Nathan, she realized she was still in her pajamas and looking disheveled. She bolted upstairs like she'd seen a ghost!
Nathan walked into the dining area, only to see a blur rushing upstairs.
"Katherine, what happened to her?"
Katherine smiled faintly, "She went to get her phone! You're here so early, have you had breakfast?"
Nathan looked at Katherine with a mix of disappointment and complexity but tried to appear natural, "I've already eaten, Katherine, don't be so polite."
Katherine gestured, "If you’re not eating, then please have a seat."
A servant pulled out a chair for Nathan. He sat down, "Katherine, who am I tutoring today? Do you have kids at home?"
