Chapter 466 Sandra's Trust

The sports car door opened, and two women stepped out. One looked to be in her forties or fifties, the other in her twenties. Both were dressed simply.

The younger woman had two braids, a plaid shirt, faded jeans, and dirty cloth shoes.

Katherine watched them approach. They seemed familiar, but she couldn't place them.

As they got closer, the older woman glared at Katherine with resentment.

"Katherine, you're living well, but you've ruined my daughter!"

It was clear they were mother and daughter. Katherine asked, "Sorry, what's your name?"

The older woman snapped, "Don't pretend you don't know us to dodge your sins!"

The younger woman, about Katherine's age, kept her head down, shoulders trembling as if crying.

Katherine stayed calm. "What sins have I committed against you?"

She was genuinely curious about these accusations.

The older woman turned away, pulling her daughter. "We need to talk to someone in your in-laws' family!"

Seeing them head towards Sandra, Katherine blocked their path. "If I've wronged you, talk to me. I'll take responsibility."

The older woman was annoyed. "Can you compensate for our losses? Move aside!"

As they tried to bypass her, Katherine blocked them again, not wanting to involve Sandra.

"Katherine, if you have nothing to hide, let them talk to Mrs. Sandra Melville!" Joshua stepped in, blocking Katherine.

He told the women, "That lady is Mrs. Sandra Melville, a respected elder. She'll help you."

With Joshua's help, they knelt in front of Sandra.

Fiona frowned, unsure of their intentions, and stepped forward to protect her grandmother. "What do you want?"

The older woman burst into tears. "Mrs. Sandra Melville, your daughter-in-law is not a good person. Please help our Fern!"

Katherine pushed Joshua aside and moved to protect Sandra and Fiona. "If you have issues, talk to me. Don't scare the elderly."

Sandra realized the situation was serious and said, "Katherine, it's okay."

Katherine looked at Sandra, feeling guilty. "Sorry, Grandma, for causing trouble again."

Sandra shook her head kindly. "We're family. There's no such thing as trouble! Katherine, if we don't let them clarify things here, they might cause trouble elsewhere. Better to clear it up now."

Katherine's eyes trembled slightly. Despite all the slander and insults from Joshua's family, Sandra stood by her side.

She thought Grandma might be swayed since they weren't blood-related and didn't have a foundation of trust.

Sandra's reaction surprised and touched her.

Sandra was right. These people came to the Melville family to cause trouble and wouldn't stop without making a scene.

Thinking of this, Katherine nodded. "Alright, I'll listen to Grandma."

Sandra nodded too, reaching a consensus with her granddaughter-in-law. She took a few steps forward and looked down at the still-crying mother and daughter, becoming serious.

"Stop crying. Kneeling and wailing at the Melville family's door makes it look like something terrible has happened to our family!"

Intimidated by Sandra's serious demeanor, the mother and daughter quieted down. The older woman said, "Mrs. Sandra Melville, we didn't mean to. It's just that Katherine has caused our family so much suffering. We're heartbroken."

Sandra didn't respond directly. Instead, she turned to the servant standing by her side and said, "Take these people inside. Let them explain inside, away from prying eyes."

The servant nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

Then, Fiona helped Sandra turn and head back into the house.

Katherine was about to follow and assist Sandra, but Sherry, wearing high heels, blocked her path.

Sherry sneered, raising her chin. "Katherine, your good days are over!"

Katherine raised an eyebrow and glanced at her. "You don't get to say if my good days are over, but it's clear yours ended a long time ago!"

"You!" Sherry gritted her teeth, her smile turning stiff and ugly.

Katherine gently pushed her aside with a finger and leisurely followed Sandra, helping the elderly lady into the house.

"Dad, Mom! Look at her!" Sherry stomped her foot in anger, nearly losing her balance in her high heels.

Lillian quickly supported her daughter, comforting her. "Sherry, why are you getting worked up over her? Once the Melville family hears about Katherine's past in the countryside, she'll be kicked out immediately!"

Sherry thought about it and felt a bit better, following them inside to watch the drama unfold.

In the Melville Manor's hall, only Anton and a few servants were waiting.

Alex and Jackie were still inside, talking, but they hadn't come out yet.

Sandra sat gracefully on a single sofa. Although she didn't like these visitors, she still had the courtesy to offer them tea.

"Tell me, what did our Katherine do to offend you so much that you came to our door?"

After asking, Sandra took a sip of her tea.

The older woman had never seen such a grand house and was busy looking around in awe. Hearing Sandra's question, she snapped back to reality.
