Chapter 460 Seven Uncles

"In my place, you don't have to worry about wasting food," Bernard insisted, unable to stand seeing his sister upset.

"Mr. Mitchell, do you think the way I eat is shabby?" Katherine raised an eyebrow.

Bernard was momentarily taken aback. "Of course not!"

Katherine's eyes darkened. "Then please don't interfere with how I eat."

Bernard, speechless, sat back down, looking helplessly at Katherine. He let her do as she pleased, not daring to voice any opinions.

Katherine leisurely ate a piece of roast beef before speaking again. "Mr. Mitchell, about our blood relation, I hope you won't tell anyone. You haven't, right?"

Bernard nodded. "No, I haven't told anyone. Katherine, until you're ready to come home, I won't say a word. If I did, our grandparents, the Ayers family, and our relatives abroad would rush back. You might not remember them, but they miss you. I haven't said anything to avoid causing you trouble."

Katherine wasn't surprised that Marcus and Aria would look for her. Claire was their daughter, and Katherine was their biological granddaughter. They wouldn't care who her mother was; they'd always recognize her as family. But the Mitchell family was different.

"Why would your grandparents be restless? Don't they think I'm not a Mitchell? Why would they look for me? Oh, right, Mr. Mitchell, you seem to think so too!" Katherine's lips curled into a cold smile.

"No!" Bernard, desperate to make Katherine believe him, grabbed her hand. "Katherine, you have to believe me; I've never thought that way!"

When Scarlett found her way to the cafeteria, she saw Bernard holding Katherine's hand. She was stunned, then looked at Katherine with surprise and jealousy. She secretly took a photo and sent it to Alex, hoping he'd be angry and disgusted.

Standing far away, Scarlett couldn't hear their conversation. Curious, she walked over with an innocent face. "Bernard, I brought you lunch. Why did you come to the cafeteria?"

Seeing Scarlett approach, Katherine pulled her hand away. Bernard also let go and sat up straight. "Ms. Galatea is here; I can't neglect her."

Scarlett looked at Katherine and blinked innocently. "Katherine, didn't you say you'd wait for me downstairs? Why did you come up?"

Katherine glanced at her indifferently. "You took too long. I got hungry and came up to eat."

Scarlett lowered her head like a scolded child. "I'm sorry, Katherine, it's my fault for making you wait! Since you're here, why don't you join Bernard and me for the lunch I brought? It's much tastier than the cafeteria's."

Scarlett placed the lunchbox on the table, opened it, and laid out a main dish with several sides. She handed Bernard a set of utensils. "Bernard, you've been busy all morning. Eat something before it gets cold."

Bernard took the utensils but didn't start eating. His gaze stayed on Katherine, and he was very gentle.

Seeing this, Scarlett felt displeased but kept a polite smile. She pushed one of the boxes towards Katherine, pretending to be sincere. "Katherine, you should try some too!"

Katherine thanked her indifferently but didn't touch the food Scarlett brought.

Scarlett felt awkward standing there with no response. She felt like a servant but couldn't show her dissatisfaction, so she pulled out a chair and sat next to Bernard.

Since she arrived, Bernard and Katherine had stopped talking, making Scarlett even more suspicious that something was going on between them.

She took out her phone and looked at the picture she had sent to Alex. It had been sent successfully, but there was no response. She typed a message to Alex: [Alex, I know I shouldn't contact you, but I felt I should remind you of this.]

She texted again: [Katherine seems to have poor boundaries with men. Now that she's married to you, she shouldn't be holding hands with Bernard in public. I don't think this is appropriate.]

Alex replied: [Where is this?]

Scarlett felt she had successfully sown discord and quickly typed back: [Katherine is at the Mitchell Group, having lunch with Bernard! Alex, didn't Katherine tell you she was coming here?]

Alex didn't reply again.

When Katherine was almost done eating, Billy came over with an ice cream, having waited in line for a long time.

"Ms. Galatea, your ice cream."

Katherine, wanting dessert, stood up and took the ice cream. "Thank you, Billy."

Hearing Katherine call him Billy made Bernard envious. He was still just Mr. Mitchell, while Billy was addressed so intimately.

Billy felt a chill down his spine, sensing pressure from Bernard, but he didn't know what he had done wrong.

Billy took out the change from buying the ice cream and handed it to Katherine. "Ms. Galatea, this is the change from the ice cream."

Katherine waved her hand. "No need to return it. Consider it payment for your company's meal! I'm full and will be leaving now. Bye!"

She leisurely strolled out.

"Katherine, wait for me. I'll go with you!" Scarlett got up and chased after Katherine towards the elevator.

Billy stood in place, watching Scarlett and Katherine leave, when he heard Bernard's displeased question.

"Why did you take her money?"

Billy turned to look at Bernard, helplessly saying, "Ms. Galatea insisted. If I didn't take the money, she wouldn't come up."
