Chapter 1048 Don't Like Eating Raw

"What are you laughing at?" Christina asked with a frown.

"You're too sensitive," Bernard replied.

She lowered her head, bit her lip, and didn't want to say anything more.

"Come on, Ruben, we haven't had a meal together yet. Let's do it today, join us!"

Ruben hadn't eaten either, and he wanted to take this opportunity to see if Christina was really Bernard's wife.

In the end, no one could resist Virginia's persistence, and the group sat down at a restaurant not far from the film studio.

As they sat down, Virginia squeezed in next to Bernard.

Bernard paused in his movement, looking at Christina across the table, but she sat expressionlessly next to Ruben, showing no objection.

Seeing this, his face darkened, and the atmosphere grew tense.

"It's been a long time since we came to this place. Bernard, do you remember when we were kids, we used to come here often? We thought this restaurant was our favorite. I wonder if it still tastes as good." Virginia said.

Bernard's eyes were fixed on Christina across the table, and he nodded absentmindedly.

"Bernard, you remember! I thought I was the only one who remembered this place." Virginia smiled warmly, the blush on her cheeks revealing her inner joy.

Ruben, sitting next to Christina, discreetly observed them. If this were his first time meeting them, he would definitely think Bernard and Virginia were a couple.

Christina kept her head down, completely detached from their conversation, her mood evident from her sullen expression.

At this moment, Ruben changed the subject and asked about their family.

"Bernard, it's been a while since I visited Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell. How are they doing? Are they in good health?"

Bernard replied calmly, "They're doing well, thank you for asking."

His response was polite but distant, as if he were speaking to a stranger.

Ruben didn't find his words cold, as Bernard had always been like this, appearing aloof.

"That's good! Please send my regards. I'll visit them when I have time," Ruben said with a smile.

Christina sipped her tea slowly, feeling like an outsider.

Bernard squinted his eyes and suddenly showed interest in Ruben's personal life. "So, your career seems to be taking off now. You seeing anyone these days?"

Everyone present, except Bernard himself, was shocked. This kind of personal question wasn't like him at all.

Bernard seemed unfazed, leisurely sipping his tea.

The tea tasted good, no wonder Christina was drinking it without looking up.

Ruben smiled awkwardly, "Been pretty swamped with work lately. Haven't really had time to date much, so yeah, still flying solo!"

As he spoke, Ruben glanced at Christina beside him.

Bernard chuckled, his lips curling meaningfully, "If you don't have a girlfriend, maybe Christina can help introduce one. Right, Christina?"

Bernard's mention of Christina sent shivers down her spine.

Ruben instinctively looked at Christina, seeing her confused and slightly displeased.

She knew Bernard was probably putting on a show for Ruben again.

Bernard's words made her feel stifled, and she couldn't drink her tea anymore.

Ruben awkwardly agreed, "Thank you for your concern, Bernard. I'm not in a hurry."

"I'm just reminding you, besides work, you should focus on meaningful things and people, don't worry your parents."

Bernard silently looked at his tea, his profile like a meticulously carved sculpture.

Ruben sensed a warning in his words, his expression stiffening.

Virginia, on the other hand, was furious. Christina, like a mute, how could such a woman be worthy of being Bernard's wife?

If she were Bernard's wife, she would manage his relatives so well, unlike this useless Christina.

Before the food arrived, the room was deathly silent.

Finally, the waiter came to serve the food, breaking the silence, "Hello, the sashimi is served first. Here's the wasabi and soy sauce, which enhance the freshness of the sashimi."

Christina looked at the plates of raw fish and shrimp with no appetite. The only raw food she could tolerate was the occasional piece on sushi, but she couldn't eat these.

She didn't expect this restaurant to have such a serving order, and her eel rice was still to come.

Virginia eagerly moved the sea urchin in front of Bernard, smiling as she explained to Christina, "A long time ago, when we first ate here, Bernard loved their sea urchin. The quality is top-notch, and the special sauce is amazing. You should try it; it's their specialty."

Bernard didn't take the dish Virginia offered, instead asking the waiter to serve the cooked food first.

Virginia was surprised, "Bernard, didn't you say that those who eat cooked food first don't understand cuisine? What's with the change today?"

Christina's appetite diminished further seeing Virginia's eagerness.

Bernard remained expressionless, "Well, you know how it is. People's tastes change."

Under the table, where no one could see, Virginia clenched her fists, forcing a smile, "Oh, I was just asking. It's normal for habits to change, but the sea urchin here is still very fresh. It's a shame not to try it."

While they chatted, Christina casually picked up a shrimp. She didn't want to seem too out of place at the table.

The raw shrimp didn't smell bad, but Virginia said Bernard's previous favorite was a deep-sea variety, costing hundreds of dollars each.

However, Christina found it hard to eat raw shrimp.

She carefully pushed the shrimp aside.

Bernard noticed everything.

He was about to say not to force herself if she didn't like it, but Ruben spoke first.

"You don't like raw food? Your eel rice will be here soon. Have some more tea?"

Christina smiled and shook her head, "I just finished the drink you brought, I'm still full, not hungry at all."

Ruben smiled, "Good thing I brought you a drink, Christina, you really should thank me!"

Christina politely smiled, "Thank you, Ruben!"

"Bang!"
