Ambrosia continued, "However, the two babies can't leave the incubator yet and will need to stay in the hospital for now."
Upon hearing that her children couldn't be discharged together, Katherine immediately frowned. "The babies can't be discharged? Then I'll stay with them and not leave the hospital either."
Ambrosia advised, "Katherine, even if you're in the hospital, the babies still need to stay in the incubator for care. You can't be with them anyway. Why not go home and rest well, and get your body back in shape? Frank, Mr. Mitchell's people, and I will be here to take care of everything. There won't be any problems."
Even though she couldn't be with her babies all the time, Katherine was unwilling to leave them and be discharged first.
"I'll be discharged when the babies are discharged," Katherine said.
Seeing her insistence, Ambrosia still tried to persuade her, "For a woman, the period after giving birth is very important. If you don't rest well, it's easy to get sick. The conditions at home are much more convenient than in the hospital."
"She is right!" Before Katherine could say anything, Sandra's voice suddenly came in.
Everyone turned towards the door of the hospital room upon hearing this.
Fiona helped Sandra walk in slowly.
"Katherine, didn't you say you'd call me if anything happened? You didn't even tell me you were giving birth so I could be here with you!" Sandra complained.
Seeing Sandra come in, Katherine couldn't help but think of the unreliable Alex.
Ambrosia frowned unhappily upon seeing Sandra and gave Fiona a reproachful look.
Fiona, feeling helpless, muttered softly, "Why are you looking at me? I didn't say anything! She found out on her own."
Jonathan smiled and greeted Sandra, then stepped aside to not interrupt their conversation.
With Fiona's help, Sandra sat on a chair by the bed, her eyes full of concern. "Katherine, are you feeling better?"
Katherine nodded. "Don't worry. I'm recovering well, and the delivery went smoothly."
Seeing that Katherine was in good spirits, Sandra felt a bit relieved and sighed deeply. "Katherine, giving birth is such a big event, and not a single person from the Melville family was here. I feel so ashamed!"
Katherine's expression darkened.
She didn't care if anyone else from the Melville family was there; she only cared about why Alex didn't come.
Katherine asked directly, "Where is Alex? Hasn't he come back yet?"
Faced with this question, Sandra's calm and aged face showed a moment of unease before she kindly said, "Katherine, it's because there's a big problem at the company. Alex is stuck in Markovia and can't leave. Don't worry. When he comes back, I'll make sure he's the first to apologize to you!"
Katherine keenly sensed something and frowned. "Can you contact him? Did he tell you about the situation at the company?"
Caught off guard by Katherine's question, Sandra was momentarily speechless.
Fiona, unusually quick-witted, answered for Sandra, "Katherine, it wasn't Alex who told Sandra. Jackie found out through the old shareholders in the company! Alex and Leander's phones were stolen in Markovia. They can't get new SIM cards while abroad, so they can't be contacted directly and are busy dealing with the company's issues. They can't leave for now."
Katherine looked at Fiona quietly. "Really?"
Fiona didn't avoid her gaze and nodded firmly. "Of course! Katherine, just focus on your recovery! When Alex comes back, he'll explain everything to you himself!"
Sandra also nodded. "Yes, Katherine, your main focus now should be on recovering! I'm here to take you home to rest. We've arranged for the best childcare experts at home. Come back with me."
Katherine refused, "No need. Resting in the hospital is fine. If there's any discomfort, the medical staff are here, which is very convenient."
Sandra shook her head in disapproval. "The hospital is not as comfortable as home. It's full of viruses and the smell of disinfectant. Home is much better! Katherine, be good and come home with me."
Just as Katherine was about to refuse again, Bernard's voice suddenly interrupted, refusing Sandra on her behalf. "Mrs. Sandra Melville, even if Katherine wants to be discharged to rest, she won't go to the Melville family."
Hearing this blunt remark, Sandra turned around, her face showing some displeasure.
"So it's Mr. Bernard Mitchell. Katherine has been troubling your family for a while, but it's time to take her back now," Sandra said.
Bernard replied, "It's no trouble at all. The Mitchell family is her home. But you, what right do you have to take her away?"
Sandra frowned. "What do you mean? Katherine is my daughter-in-law. Do you think I don't have the right to take her away?"
Bernard smirked coldly, "Your daughter-in-law? How do you prove that? Has she registered her marriage with any man in your family? Or has any man in your family acted like a husband and stayed by her side to take care of her?"
Sandra was speechless.
Knowing Sandra couldn't respond, Bernard didn't plan to show any kindness and said bluntly, "You should leave. Don't come here to disturb her! Until that irresponsible man Alex comes back, no one can take her away from me!"
Sandra frowned deeply. "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, what right do you have to say these things to me? Who are you to Katherine? What gives you the right to stop us from taking her home?"
Bernard replied, "Who I am doesn't matter, and I don't need to explain anything to the Melville family! Just because your irresponsible grandson didn't fulfill his duties to Katherine, the Melville family has no right to take her away!"
Sandra knew her family was in the wrong and had nothing to say, but she was also so angry that she was almost out of breath.
Fiona argued unhappily, "Hey, Katherine hasn't said anything yet! Why are you saying so much? Do you have feelings for Katherine and want to pursue her while Alex is away? Hypocrite!"
Bernard glanced at Fiona, seemingly too lazy to argue with her, and looked away indifferently.
Katherine, listening to their bickering, felt a bit annoyed. "Alright, that's enough! Fiona, take Sandra home first!"
