Chapter 19 She Arrived

"Alright! Hank, you go outside and greet the guests! You don't need to worry about the bridesmaid; I can handle it!"

Teresa said softly as she pushed Hank out of the dressing room. She turned around and looked at Katherine, who was already dressed in her bridesmaid dress, and smiled, saying, "Aunt Katherine, you look beautiful! No wonder my Uncle Alex, who never had a girlfriend, suddenly married you!"

Katherine smiled and said, "Today, I am here as your bridesmaid, so don't call me Aunt Katherine. Just call me by my name."

Teresa nodded and asked, "Alright, Katherine, how did you and Uncle Alex meet?"

She thought to herself, 'How did Alex and I meet? That's a painful memory!' Katherine furrowed her brows and said, "Let's not talk about him and me. Today is your big day, so how about we talk about how you and your fiancé met?"

Teresa excitedly started talking about her love story with Hank. As she described their journey, her face lit up with a sweet smile, only mentioning the beautiful moments they shared.

Not long after, two girls entered the dressing room. They were the temporary bridesmaids Teresa had found. Teresa arranged for them to change into their dresses. She received a phone call and asked Katherine to stay here and help welcome the last temporary bridesmaid who was about to arrive, then hurriedly left.

A few minutes later, Ruth pushed the door open and asked, "Where can I change into the bridesmaid dress?"

Katherine pointed and replied, "Over there!"

Ruth applied her makeup meticulously. When she saw Katherine, her expression twisted. "Katherine? What are you doing here again?"

Katherine lazily leaned back on the sofa, playing with her phone. She glanced up at Ruth and said nonchalantly, "I'm here to help, to be a bridesmaid."

Ruth had lost her job, and her credit card payment was due soon. She saw an urgent recruitment for a bridesmaid online, offering a high pay of four hundred dollars a day, so she hurriedly came over.

She guessed that Katherine was also here as a part-time bridesmaid for the same reason!

Ruth looked at Katherine contemptuously and said, "Weren't you flirting with a tycoon at the auction house this morning? And now you're here being a bridesmaid? Did he dump you?"

Katherine ignored her and continued playing with her phone.

Thinking she had hit a nerve, Ruth taunted, "You deserve to be abandoned! Those rich people don't care about you; they just see you as a toy!"

Katherine remained unfazed, and Ruth insulted her a few more times before going to change her clothes.

Seeing the last bridesmaid dress left on the hanger, Ruth frowned in dissatisfaction. She didn't like the simple strap style, finding it lacking in design.

She turned to look at the dress Katherine was wearing, with its ruffled hem. Walking over rudely, she said, "Take off that dress you're wearing and give it to me!"

Katherine raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why?"

Ruth sneered, "Because you cost me two jobs, and you owe me this!"

Katherine chuckled coldly, "I lost my job because of you too!"

Pretending not to hear, Ruth grabbed her, ready to strip off her clothes. "Quit the nonsense and take it off!"

Katherine impatiently looked at her. She clenched her fists but thought of Teresa, who was about to have her happy wedding. She held back.

She thought, 'Today is Teresa's big day, and it wasn't easy for her to find these four last-minute bridesmaids. The ceremony is about to start, and there can't be any more mistakes.'

"Fine, let's switch then!"

"That's more like it!"

After changing clothes, Ruth admired herself in the mirror, satisfied, until she saw Katherine walking out of the changing room.

Katherine was wearing the bridesmaid dress that Ruth disliked. However, her presence didn't diminish; instead, the dress accentuated her slender neck and fair skin, making her look even more elegant.

It wasn't that Katherine's dress was better; it was her demeanor that elevated the outfit.

"Bitch!" Ruth angrily cursed.

Not wanting to argue with Ruth at someone else's wedding, Katherine turned and walked into the restroom.

As she came out of the restroom, she inadvertently witnessed a man and a woman sneaking into the storage room at the end of the hallway.

The man was Teresa's groom, Hank, and the woman was Ruth, wearing the same color bridesmaid dress as Katherine!

She thought, 'Nothing good can come from the groom and bridesmaid being together on the wedding day.'

In the storage room.

"Hank, you are so shameless! You actually got married behind my back!"

"Ruth, what are you doing here?"

"I'm here as a bridesmaid. I never expected the groom to be you! No wonder you haven't been answering my calls lately!"

"Ruth, there's 40 thousand dollars in this card. Consider it as our breakup fee! After you're done being a bridesmaid, leave and don't cause any trouble!"

Ruth took the card and said, "You think I'll leave just like that for forty thousand dollars? If you want to break up, you should at least give me two hundred thousand dollars!"

Hank was getting annoyed. "Two hundred thousand dollars? Ruth, don't be so greedy! If you don't accept my offer, I'll have security escort you out!"

Listening to the argument between the two in the utility room, Katherine finally remembered why Hank seemed familiar.

Hank had previously come to the Apricot Group to meet Ruth. Ruth was always flaunting. She talked about her handsome boyfriend and showed off with Hank at the company.

And Teresa had just mentioned that she and Hank had been in love for three years and were always affectionate.

She thought, 'Hank seemed loyal, but he's actually a player! Poor Teresa, she was so devoted to him!'

Katherine kept her head down, expressionless.

Teresa was Alex's niece, and this was an internal matter of the Allen family. It had nothing to do with her, and she had no reason to meddle.

The wedding began, and the background music played solemn and romantic.

Teresa walked down the aisle, slowly approaching the man she was certain she would spend the rest of her life with.

In the audience, Hilton watched the ongoing wedding and suddenly remembered something. He nudged Alex and asked with a smile, "Alex, what about the girl you brought home a few days ago? Why didn't you bring her here?"

Alex remained silent, his gaze fixed on Katherine in the light blue dress on the stage.

Leander, standing beside Alex, answered for him, "Mr. Allen, actually, Mrs. Melville is already here."

"She's here?" Hilton looked around and asked, "Where is she? Why didn't I see her?"

Leander pointed to the stage and said, "She's right there."

Hilton looked at the stage, where, besides the bride Teresa, there were four bridesmaids. "Which one is she?"

When he saw Katherine before, she was heavily made up, and he had no idea what her real face looked like!

On the large screen on the stage, a video of the bride and groom was playing, and the priest was asking the bride if she was willing to marry the groom no matter what the future held.

Suddenly, the screen switched to a surveillance video. Hank and a woman in a bridesmaid dress were arguing in the hallway; then they sweetly entered the storage room together!

The guests at the scene started to discuss.
