Chapter 541 Lost Contact

Sunny was totally trapped by Ambrosia, no escape in sight.

Even though she was shorter, she had him so freaked out his face went beet red. Instinctively, he crossed his arms over his chest. "What are you gonna do if I don't strip?"

Ambrosia sneered, "So innocent, yet you dared to come to a hotel with me? If you can't handle it, just go home!"

Sunny, with his pride on the line, couldn't stand being looked down on. Hearing this, he got pissed. "Hmph, who says I can't handle it?"

Ambrosia raised an eyebrow. "If not you, then who? Alright, go home early for dinner! Don't let your parents find out you came to a place like this and blame me for corrupting you!"

Sunny shot back, "I'm not a kid! I don't need my parents' permission to do what I want! I'll take it off. I'm not scared of you, you nasty woman!"

With that, he yanked off his hoodie, thinking he looked cool as he tossed it on the ground, showing off a smooth, well-toned chest.

Ambrosia paused, adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses, and checked out Sunny's muscles.

Three days later.

After a bunch of tests, the doc said Katherine was stable enough to go home and keep recovering there.

Early in the morning, Sandra personally picked up Katherine from the hospital, with Fiona tagging along.

Back at Melville Manor, Katherine was first sweet-talked by the nutritionist Sandra had hired into having a nutritious meal.

Sandra had messed up before with her own cooking, so this time, she didn't dare make anything herself and got a pro nutritionist for safety.

After eating, Katherine chatted with Sandra for a bit and then found an excuse to head upstairs to her room.

For some reason, she'd been feeling uneasy these past few days. Even though she was easily tired and sleepy, she often slept restlessly and had frequent nightmares.

It had been three days, and Alex hadn't called or sent any messages.

Worried, Katherine had sent him two messages on social media.

One asked what he was up to.

The other asked when he'd be back.

She hadn't gotten any replies from Alex.

She didn't want to overthink, but she couldn't help it. Since Alex was abroad and out of reach, she decided to wait until he got back to talk about it.

Lying spread-eagle on the bed, staring at the ceiling, Katherine suddenly remembered something important. She grabbed her phone and called Leander.

Today, she had learned from Fiona that Leander hadn't gone on the business trip with Alex and was handling company stuff locally.

She had something she needed Leander to help with!

The call was quickly answered, and Leander's attitude was super respectful, agreeing to her request without any fuss.

Until the call ended, Katherine didn't ask about Alex, and Leander didn't bring up Alex's situation.

Katherine figured if Alex wanted her to know, he'd tell her. Since he didn't, asking was pointless.

In the evening, Leander swung by to update Katherine on the task she’d given him.

The bedroom wasn’t the best spot for a chat, so Katherine led Leander to Alex’s study.

In the study, Leander, looking all serious and respectful, said, "Mrs. Melville, I went to the Mitchell family today to request custody of Charles like you asked."

Katherine, lounging in Alex's computer chair with one hand propping up her head, tilted her head slightly. "Hmm, how’d it go?"

Leander replied, "Vincent and Hellen said you had previously mentioned Charles's custody to them. They thought it over and agreed that you and Mr. Melville to have custody of Charles."

Katherine raised an eyebrow and looked around Leander. "Then why didn’t you bring him?"

Charles was in a rough spot. Scarlett had brought him back for her own use, and once he was no longer useful, he wasn’t treated well, much like her own childhood.

Leander said helplessly, "Vincent and Hellen agreed to let you take Charles, but Mrs. Mitchell refused to let go. She said that with Scarlett arrested, Charles is her only grandson. If Charles leaves her, she won’t want to live. She even threatened to kill herself to prevent anyone from taking Charles."

Hearing this, Katherine found it amusing and let out a cold laugh.

With Scarlett arrested, Alice was now playing the role of a good grandmother. Where was she when her daughter was abusing Charles? Neither mother nor daughter was any good!

Charles absolutely couldn’t stay with Alice; his life wouldn’t be good.

She had promised Charles she would get him out.

Thinking for a moment, Katherine asked, "Where is Alice now? I’ll go see her."

Leander replied, "Vincent and Hellen sent Mrs. Mitchell to the Summer Villa in the countryside, and Charles is there, too."

Katherine nodded. "Tomorrow morning, arrange a car for me. I’ll go to the Summer Villa to personally discuss Charles's custody with Mrs. Mitchell."

Leander hesitated, looking troubled. "Mrs. Melville, it’s not a good idea for you to meet the Mitchell family alone right now. Mrs. Mitchell is angry with you over Scarlett’s arrest and might act irrationally. Mr. Melville wouldn’t agree to you going to the Summer Villa to see her."

Mentioning Alex made Katherine even more annoyed. She frowned. "What? Do I need his permission to go somewhere now?"

Leander shook his head. "No, Mrs. Melville, Mr. Melville is just concerned about your safety. It’s better to wait for him to return and go together to discuss Charles's custody with Mrs. Mitchell."

Katherine asked, "When will he be back?"

Leander hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "I’m not sure. The situation abroad is quite complicated, and Mr. Melville might be delayed for a while."

Katherine’s lips curled into a cold smile. "I can wait, but that child can’t! You know what kind of people Scarlett and her mother are, right? Do you think that child will have a good life with Alice? No matter what, the child is innocent, and legally, he is Mr. Melville’s child. If something happens to him, who will be responsible?"

Leander was troubled. "This..."
