Chapter 676 Found It
"But if I find another guy with Melville blood like you, it'd give me more leverage and protection. We could team up and both benefit. What do you say?"
Carl stared at Katherine for a moment, then shoved her away with a sneer. "Why would I want Alex's leftovers?"
Katherine just laughed, not feeling humiliated at all. "Isn't the Melville Group also something Alex left behind? You don't mind taking that, do you? It takes some skill to deal with Alex's stuff!"
Carl seemed to be considering her words.
He really didn't know how to run a business and needed a partner.
She seemed pretty straightforward, and he could always deal with her later if needed.
Thinking this, Carl sneered, "Alright, I'll let you live for now. But if I find out you're playing me, you're dead."
Katherine smiled. "Since we're partners now, can you untie my hands?"
Carl's eyes narrowed with suspicion. "Why untie you? What's the rush? I'll untie you after you give birth!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Just untie my hands and get me some paper and a pen. I'll draw a diagram to explain the Melville Group's power structure. It'll help us take over together."
Carl looked at her skeptically.
Katherine laughed. "What? I'm pregnant, and my legs are still tied! Even if you untie my hands, I can't untie my legs by myself. Are you really afraid I can run away? You're overestimating me and underestimating your group!"
Carl was provoked by Katherine.
He frowned, looking at her big belly, then said coldly, "Give me your hands!"
Katherine immediately raised her bound hands in front of him.
As Carl untied the rope, his gaze fell on her slender, white wrists.
It was odd that even though Katherine was clearly pregnant with a round body and face, her arms weren't fat at all.
Carl tossed the rope aside and commanded, "Draw!"
Katherine spread her hands and shrugged. "No paper, no pen. How can I draw for you?"
Carl glared at her, annoyed, and after staring at her for a moment, he turned to find paper and a pen.
Suddenly, a loud noise echoed in the room.
Outside, several young men were still eating barbecue and drinking, oblivious to the commotion in the small shack.
In the suburban ruins after the explosion.
Several cars were parked around, and people got out.
Sunny looked at the ruins ahead and frowned. "This place is almost flattened. It's hard to hide. Could Katherine be here?"
Bernard got out of the car and narrowed his eyes, scanning the surroundings. He raised his hand, signaling his men to search while he carefully looked for clues.
Noticing something unusual on the ground, Bernard squatted down and examined it with a flashlight. It was tire tracks from a car other than theirs. He then raised his head and looked in the direction the tracks led.
Frank saw Bernard squatting there and walked over to check it out. When he saw the tracks, he shouted, "Hey, come look at this! These tire tracks seem fresh, heading from the suburbs to the city!"
Ambrosia and Sunny joined them to take a look.
Bernard dusted off his hands, stood up, and ordered his team to follow the tracks.
They all got into their cars and followed the trail.
In the muddy ground of the abandoned factory, the tire tracks were distinct, but as they reached the asphalt road leading to the city, they disappeared!
They had to stop and contact the traffic network to check road surveillance and screen for suspicious vehicles.
Since there weren't many cars coming from the suburbs at night, they quickly locked onto a suspicious van and set off again!
Following the route from the road surveillance, they soon found a small house in a narrow alley.
The house had an iron gate, and they could hear a bunch of guys talking inside, with the smell of barbecue wafting out.
Bernard, Frank, Ambrosia, and Sunny got out of the car and walked into the narrow alley.
They didn't drive too close to avoid alerting the people inside.
They hid in a concealed spot, observing. The surrounding houses were dark and quiet.
Only one yard was brightly lit, with noisy voices coming from inside.
Sunny frowned, feeling worried, and whispered, "Bernard, could Katherine have been kidnapped here while looking for Alex in the ruins? With so many guys inside, could she have been harmed already?"
Bernard clenched his fist. "Shut up."
Sunny lowered his head. He knew he should be quiet, but he couldn't help worrying. Thinking that Katherine might have been kidnapped by those men, he desperately wanted to rush in and find her immediately!
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "You guys wait here. I'll find an excuse to go in and check."
Frank reached out to stop her and said calmly, "There are a lot of people inside. If Katherine is in there, your late-night visit will only make them suspicious."
Ambrosia frowned. "Then what do you suggest?"
Frank said, "Let's observe a bit more."
Sunny couldn't hold back. "What if they finish eating and start harming Katherine?"
Frank was also worried, but Katherine's safety was at stake, and he couldn't act rashly. "Just stay calm. Katherine is pregnant. They probably didn't kidnap her for her looks. There must be another reason for bringing her here."
Upon hearing this, Sunny found it reasonable since he had almost forgotten that Katherine was pregnant. At that moment, Bernard suddenly whispered, "Quiet."
The other three immediately fell silent!
They heard the men in the yard talking, "Boss has been in the shack with that pregnant woman for a while. Why hasn't he come out yet?"
"Could the boss be getting it on with that pregnant woman?"
"Haha."
"Boss is quite something, not even minding her big belly!"
"Haha."
"You better shut it! If the boss catches wind of this, he'll beat you to a pulp!"
