Chapter 39 Do you want me to die?

Alexander replied lightly, "When did you come back?"

Jonathan approached with a bright smile. "About a week ago. I returned in a hurry this time, so I didn't have the chance to have a drink with you and Hilton."

Alexander looked at him calmly. "No rush; we can catch up when you have time."

Jonathan smiled again. "Alex, actually, we met at Breaking Dawn Bar last time, but you seemed busy, so I didn't come over to say hello."

"Is that so?" Alexander remained composed, but a hint of indifference flickered in his eyes.

Indeed, they had seen each other from a distance at Breaking Dawn Bar that day.

Katherine had lost a game in the private room of Breaking Dawn Bar and was punished for kissing a man, who happened to be Jonathan.

Jonathan continued, "Alex, I heard you recently got married. It seems I missed your wedding."

Alexander calmly smiled, "It's alright. Katherine and I can treat you to a drink another day."

Jonathan paused for a moment, then smiled, "Of course, I'll be waiting for you!"

At that moment, Leander hurried in and said, "Mr. Melville, Ms. Galatea is not feeling well. She suddenly had a nosebleed!"

Worry creased Alexander's brow, and he turned around, striding quickly towards the restroom.

Jonathan followed him.

The restroom was unisex.

Katherine was bent over the sink, rinsing her nose. The water in the white basin had turned a faint red from dilution.

After cleaning her nose, she rolled a tissue into a strip and stuffed it into both nostrils to stop the bleeding.

Alexander stood behind her, watching, a hint of teasing in his eyes.

Katherine, weak and with dull eyes, said, "Sir, I'm ready. We can leave."

With that, Katherine weakly walked over, passing by Alexander, and tried to make her way out.

Alexander hesitated for a moment. He turned around and caught up with her, lifting her up in his arms.

Katherine was startled. "Sir? What are you doing?"

"You're so weak. What do you think I'm doing? You should go to the hospital!"

"I don't want to go to the hospital."

Alexander lowered his head, looking at Katherine's pale face in his embrace. She didn't even have the strength to struggle. "Baby, you should listen to me! Your health is closely related to my personal matters until we dissolve our marriage. I have no interest in becoming a widower at my age."

So that's it. Katherine frowned and forced a smile. "Sir, don't worry. Even if you die, I won't die."

Seeing her weak yet stubborn, Alexander's eyes sparkled with amusement. "If I die, will you be a widow?"

Katherine scoffed, "Wouldn't that be delightful? As your spouse, I would directly inherit your vast fortune, and I wouldn't have to worry about my husband causing me trouble anymore."

Alexander's face darkened, but he chuckled in exasperation. "It seems I'll have to watch out for you trying to murder me in the future!"

Katherine rolled her eyes, turned her head, and stopped looking at him. She thought, 'Forget it, let him hold me. I won't struggle anymore!'

She was in so much discomfort that she didn't have the extra energy to resist or walk independently.

At that moment, Katherine felt like the Little Mermaid with the witch's exchanged legs; every step she took felt like walking on broken glass.

However, while the Little Mermaid felt pain in her feet with every step, Katherine felt it in her abdomen.

Jonathan rushed over with a middle-aged man carrying a medicine box. "Alex, my personal doctor is here. Let him check on Katherine first, okay?"

What is he up to?

As Katherine's husband, he hadn't found a doctor yet.

"No need, thank you." Alexander held Katherine and bypassed Jonathan.

Jonathan knew that Katherine didn't want to go to the hospital, so he followed to try and persuade Alexander again.

Leander, however, turned and blocked him. "Mr. Mostow, you don't need to worry about Mrs. Melville. Mr. Melville has already called an ambulance, and it's right outside."

An ambulance? Jonathan squinted, watching Alexander carry Katherine away. He thought of something but didn't say anything more.

Inside the ambulance, Katherine lay on the stretcher, her face even paler.

It wasn't because her physical condition had worsened but because her emotions were too complicated.

"Sir, thank you! I should be the only one in Janetrick who takes an ambulance to the hospital because of my period."

Alexander, sitting next to Katherine's stretcher, was tall and strong, so he had to bend his long legs inside the ambulance, and his head would occasionally hit the ceiling.

As Katherine's family member, Alexander looked down at her. "Are you dissatisfied? You're not a child anymore. Can't you remember the timing of your period?"

His tone was full of displeasure, like a parent scolding a careless child.

Katherine frowned, a sense of grievance appearing on her pale face. She said in a frustrated tone, "Of course, I remember my period. It's just that I don't know why it came much earlier this month, and my cramps are severe. I never used to have such painful periods..."

Alexander squinted. As a man, he truly didn't understand or empathize with women's menstrual issues.

Katherine's face grew even paler, and Alexander could see that she was in unbearable pain.

Alexander touched Katherine's forehead, which was covered in cold sweat, and then he gently ruffled her hair. "Alright, next time you're feeling unwell, send me a message. You're not too foolish; I must commend you."

His actions were like petting a small cat, a sick cat that was unhappy but couldn't get angry.

Alexander's warm and rough hand rested on Katherine's head, and she felt a slight awkwardness. She thought, 'Well, should I care about your praise? I'm just being professional, playing the role of your wife for these three months.'

If it weren't for Lillian's painting today, Katherine wouldn't have agreed to go to the art exhibition with Jonathan.
From the moment Katherine decided to go to the exhibition with Jonathan, she had already sent a text message to Alexander to inform him of her plans.
This was because Alexander had previously stated that he wouldn't allow Katherine to be with any man for three months.
Jonathan was a man, and he had clearly expressed his feelings to Katherine, so she thought it was necessary to inform Alexander to avoid any misunderstandings.
As for Sunny, Katherine had noticed from the beginning that he was following her, but she didn't pay much attention to it.
Unexpectedly, Katherine didn't expect her body to suddenly have this situation, and she also didn't expect Sunny to go to the extent of bringing Fiona and Sandra to monitor her. Inside the ambulance, two young nurses kept stealing glances at Alexander.
"Look, he's not only handsome, but he also treats his girlfriend so well. I want a boyfriend like that, too."
"Her boyfriend called an ambulance for her because of her period, while my boyfriend just tells me to drink more water."
"My boyfriend doesn't even care about me!" Katherine was puzzled. Looking at Alexander, she thought, 'Is he really that great? He's just a boyfriend who is like a hot potato. I really want to give him away for free to them!'
