Chapter 815 Missed Meeting
Trevor suddenly sneezed in the hotel suite.
Sophia, who had just returned from seeing Brent, heard it and immediately looked worried. "Trevor, why did you sneeze? Didn't you already take cold medicine? Why does it seem like it's getting worse?"
As she spoke, she quickly stepped forward and touched Trevor's forehead, and it was not hot.
Trevor gently brushed her hand away. "It's nothing, just a bit of an itchy nose. Maybe it's because of the dust in the air."
Sophia felt a bit relieved. "That's good! I'll call room service to clean our room thoroughly, so there won't be any dust."
Trevor responded with a faint "hmm" and didn't stop her.
Sophia glanced at the child sleeping on the bed, hugging a Machine Man toy. "Julian fell asleep again? He does nothing but play, eat, and sleep all day!"
Trevor also looked at the sleeping child on the bed, his brows furrowing slightly with a hint of reproach. "Why did you let Julian come back alone just now? What if he wandered out of the hotel by himself?"
Sophia was taken aback and looked a bit embarrassed. "Trevor, I was talking to Dad and couldn't leave. Julian insisted on coming back to find you."
She suddenly thought of something. "But I didn't let him come back alone! I asked my sister Linda to bring him back! Trevor, didn't you see Linda?"
Trevor's brows furrowed deeper. "No."
Sophia pretended to be aggrieved and sighed, "Then Linda must have dropped Julian off at the door and left! Trevor, Julian is my child too. How could I not worry about his safety?"
Trevor scolded, "Don't do that again! Your sister is still a child herself! What if the two kids get a wild idea and run off together? What if they encounter danger?"
Sophia's eyes widened as if a realization had just hit her. "Trevor, you're right! My dad came over today, and I was so happy that I didn't think about these things."
"Julian is at a mischievous age right now. You have to watch his every move. I'm physically unable to, otherwise, I wouldn't put all this responsibility on you alone!"
"Trevor, I understand! Don't be mad. I'll be more careful in the future."
Although Trevor had always been cold to her, she was used to it. But his current attitude was overly serious and displeased, making Sophia overthink.
"Trevor, why do you seem so upset with me all of a sudden? Did Julian say something to you when he came back?" she asked tentatively.
Trevor looked up, his deep eyes fixed on her. "What do you think Julian would say to me?"
Sophia thought Trevor's sudden displeasure must be because George had come back and bad-mouthed her!
If she pretended nothing had happened, it would definitely make Trevor dislike her.
So, she put on a worried face and said, "Dad did scold him a bit, I admit! But that's because Julian was disrespectful to me at his place. I can tolerate my own child, but my Dad got angry and said we didn't educate Julian well and wanted to teach him himself!"
She continued, "You know how my dad's temper is. I was afraid he might spank Julian, so I scolded Julian a bit in front of him! Is Julian mad at me and complained to you?"
Sophia lied without hesitation, pretending to be aggrieved without a hint of guilt.
Trevor watched Sophia's performance quietly for a long time before speaking. "He didn't say anything about you; he just seemed a bit unhappy."
Over the years, he had seen Sophia's performances countless times. No matter how convincing she was, he could always tell the truth from lies.
But even if he could see through it, what could he do? He couldn't stand on his own legs and couldn't escape Sophia's control, so he had to numbingly cooperate with her act.
Sophia sighed. "Julian is unhappy? I'll comfort him when he wakes up!"
Trevor responded with a "hmm" and said nothing more.
Sophia then changed the subject. "By the way, Trevor, my dad said we should all go out for dinner tonight. He doesn't want Nora to go through the trouble of cooking for so many people, so he's already booked a restaurant."
Trevor's brows furrowed slightly. "Do I really have to go?"
Sophia shook her head. "Trevor, you didn't go to the airport this morning, and my dad already noticed. If you skip this family dinner, he'll definitely think worse of you! Don't you care about his opinion?"
Trevor's eyes darkened. "I understand."
Sophia leaned in closer. "So, you mean you'll go, right?"
Trevor nodded. "I'll go. Can you help me pick out what to wear tonight?"
Sophia smiled. "Trevor! I knew you wouldn't make things difficult for me! Okay, I'll go find your clothes now!"
She was so happy that her voice got a bit louder.
Trevor frowned and put a finger to his lips, glancing at the child still sleeping on the bed.
Sophia realized and lowered her voice. "Sorry, I got a bit loud when I was happy. Luckily, I didn't wake Julian! Trevor, I'll go find your clothes now!"
After Trevor nodded, he maneuvered his wheelchair to turn around and looked out the floor-to-ceiling window, squinting at the sky.
He naturally didn't want to go and didn't feel like he was part of Sophia's family, needing to have any family dinner.
In the past, he didn't know his own background and could only believe what they told him.
Now, he knew his past and saw Sophia and Brent as the culprits who made him what he was today. It was laughable that they still pretended to be family in front of him.
On the other side.
Katherine stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in her room, her tired eyes looking at the clouds in the sky.
"So, you didn't get to meet Lotus face-to-face this time?" she asked.
Her voice carried a hint of undisguised disappointment.
Bernard stood beside her and sighed. "We were so close, but Lotus realized there was an outsider in my friend's house and left without coming upstairs. When my friend tried to arrange another meeting, she refused and even refunded the tuition my friend had paid her, saying she wouldn't teach her anymore."
Katherine furrowed her brows in confusion. "Why would an art teacher be so wary of outsiders?"
Bernard said, "I find it strange too, but there's no way to convince her to come out and meet."
