Chapter 485 What a Coincidence
For someone like Scarlett, who has no shame, it's tough to get her to admit her mistakes without a major confrontation.
Katherine shook her head and rubbed her forehead. The evidence was right there, but Alice and Scarlett were still being unreasonable.
Seeing Katherine's frustration, Scarlett thought she had the upper hand. She tried to sound helpful, saying, "Katherine, you should ask your stepmother and sister who they met in the park this morning and what they got from that person, instead of questioning me. The person in the photo isn't me."
Katherine laughed. "Scarlett, with you and your mom, any photo or video proving your misconduct is always labeled as fake, right?"
Scarlett looked innocent and said, "It's not us labeling it. Katherine, you can't prove the authenticity of the evidence because of Alex. You already have a grudge against me and see me as a rival in love."
A rival in love?
Katherine never saw Scarlett as a rival in love!
She had misunderstood Scarlett's relationship with Alex before, but she decided to give up on Alex and never intended to compete with Scarlett.
Later, when the misunderstanding with Alex was resolved, she saw that Alex didn't care about Scarlett at all. So, there was no question of seeing Scarlett as a rival in love!
Scarlett really knew how to flatter herself.
Katherine lazily propped her head. "You're overthinking. I really don't have time to care about you!"
Scarlett smiled. "Katherine, we're all girls. I understand your stubborn mindset. Admitting it isn't a big deal!"
Katherine sneered. "Alright, say whatever you want!“
”Now, back to the point. Since you and Alice don't believe the photo I brought, let's look at the traffic department's road surveillance!"
"Everyone knows traffic surveillance can't be faked."
"Scarlett, when you drove a spare car you secretly bought to the park this morning, you were caught by road surveillance and even got a ticket for running a red light, right?"
Katherine took her phone back from Bernard, opened the traffic management app, and pulled up the relevant surveillance records.
Scarlett's face turned pale, but she still held onto a sliver of hope, not believing that Katherine could retrieve those internal surveillance records!
However, Katherine not only pulled out the surveillance but also cast it onto the living room TV for everyone to see.
The footage was clear, with the date and time displayed in the upper right corner.
At five in the morning, Scarlett was driving an inconspicuous car to the park.
Seeing the footage, Alice panicked.
Vincent and Hellen frowned and looked at their untruthful granddaughter, disappointed and confused.
Disappointed that she lied and confused about why she lied!
Bernard watched the footage on the TV, squinted at Scarlett, and coldly asked, "You said you didn't go to the park. Why does the traffic record show you driving there? Can you explain that?"
Scarlett, clearly nervous, stammered, "Bernard, I... I didn't sleep well last night and felt bad this morning, so I went for a drive. The outer ring is quieter, and I just happened to be on that road. This doesn't prove I went to the park, does it?"
Katherine clicked her tongue. "Scarlett, you just said you didn't go out this morning. Now you're saying you went for a drive? Which is it? Don't you see how contradictory you sound?"
Scarlett's eyes darted around. "I..."
Bernard pinched his brow, clearly fed up with his sister's lies.
Katherine continued, "If you just wanted a drive, why sneak out and use a car your family didn't know about? Doesn't that suggest you didn't want anyone to know where you were or who you were meeting? So, Scarlett, who were you meeting secretly?"
Scarlett's eyes darted around wildly, unable to come up with a counter.
Alice interjected, "Katherine, stop! Why bring this nonsense to our house and cause trouble? What do you gain from this?"
Katherine looked at Alice with contempt. "I'm not interested in causing trouble in your family. But your daughter is just like you, willing to do anything to get what she wants. Both of you are the same!"
Alice was furious. "How can you talk like that? Dad, Mom, Bernard, you all see this, right? Katherine is insulting us!"
Vincent and Hellen exchanged glances, feeling Katherine was a bit too aggressive today.
Bernard just felt sorry for his sister and understood why Katherine hated Alice so much.
Katherine ignored Alice and continued, "Yesterday, Lillian brought her husband Joshua and Sherry to my home, along with Camila and Fern, who spread rumors about me online. They accused me of having a chaotic private life in high school and of replacing Fern's SAT scores to get into Janetrick University.“
”Because their accusations were false, they didn't gain any ground with the Melville family. So, they went online to slander me! There's no way two ordinary people could create such an online storm so quickly. After domestic media was controlled, they stirred up trouble on foreign sites, causing another uproar!“
”Ruining my reputation is one thing; I can handle that. But they tanked the Melville Group's stock and tarnished our family's name because of me, and I can't stand for that!“
”And this morning, Scarlett met with the people who brought my stepmom Lillian and her daughter Sherry to our house yesterday, in a remote park on the outer ring and gave them a suitcase. Isn't that too much of a coincidence?"
