Chapter 12 Alexander Has a Crush

Katherine had put on Alexander's T-shirt. Feeling a bit cold with the window open, she also wore the coat that Alexander had just draped over her.

"Ms. Galatea, I heard you lost your job?" Katherine, bored, was gazing at the street scene outside the window, which was moving backward when she heard Alexander's deep and mature voice.

"Yes, thanks to you," Katherine replied.

Alexander, expressionless, flipped through the documents and said, "I gave you all an opportunity, but there were mistakes that shouldn't have happened. By my standards, that proposal didn't have any investment value."

Katherine, feeling a bit tired, yawned.

"Fine! I'm not an employee of Apricot Group anymore, and you don't need to tell me the reason," she said.

Alexander didn't respond.

He raised his hand, turned a page of the document, and casually said, "If you're looking for an internship at the company..."

"Please pull over to the side of the road up ahead!" Katherine interrupted the driver.

She cut off Alexander's words and leaned against the window, looking outside. Suddenly, she seemed pleasantly surprised, as if she had discovered something.

As soon as the driver stopped the car, Katherine opened the door and got out.

She walked briskly to the bus stop in front and hopped onto the bus that had just arrived.

Katherine found a window seat, extended her hand out of the window, and contemptuously raised her middle finger at the Mercedes behind.

The bus started moving slowly, and she retracted her hand.

Watching everything that was happening, Leander was greatly shocked.

He thought, 'Ms. Galatea is too audacious. In all of Janetrick and even the whole country, no one dares to be so disrespectful in front of Mr. Melville.'

"Mr. Melville, Ms. Galatea is wearing your suit jacket. The World Trade Center building was completed this afternoon. You need to go for the ribbon-cutting ceremony."

"Then have someone deliver a new set of clothes."

Alexander frowned, his face dark, and he continued to flip through the documents.

"Yes!" Leander said, "Mr. Melville, Ms. Melville just called and said she's in the hospital."

Alexander raised his head slightly and asked, "What happened to her?"

Leander relayed, "This morning, Ms. Galatea dunked Ms. Melville's head in the toilet and made her drink several mouthfuls of toilet water. Ms. Melville has always been clean. She found it disgusting and has been vomiting since morning. She's been dehydrated and had to be taken to the hospital for an IV drip."

"What did the doctor say?"

"The doctor said her condition isn't very serious. After the IV drip and some food, she should rest for a couple of days. However, Ms. Melville has been crying and insisting that you come back to help her teach Ms. Galatea a lesson."

Alexander remained calm. He said, "Fiona has been spoiled by her grandmother and has always been willful. Although Katherine is reckless, she wouldn't actively cause trouble. Let Fiona learn her lesson this time, and she won't be so willful in the future. There's no need to pay attention to this matter."

Leander was taken aback, thinking, 'Mr. Melville seems to be exceptionally tolerant of Ms. Galatea.'

After a moment, he turned and asked, "Ms. Galatea lost her job today. Should I arrange a job for her?"

Alexander replied indifferently, "No need to bother with her. Keep an eye on her for the next three months and make sure she doesn't do anything to damage the Melville family's reputation."

"Yes!"

Leander had initially thought that Alexander had feelings for Katherine, but now he realized he was mistaken.

Leander thought, 'Yes, Mr. Melville has always loved Ms. Scarlett Mitchell.'

However, due to the enmity between the Melville family and the Mitchell family, they couldn't be together.

And Mr. Melville had remained single because of this, which is why Mr. Warner was so eager to push him into marriage.'

Katherine took the bus back to the Galatea family to pack her things.

Next, she would cooperate with Alexander and stay with the Melville family for three months. She couldn't keep wearing his clothes all the time.

As soon as she entered the house, she encountered Sherry, who had been unemployed at home since leaving the entertainment industry.

Sherry had always been arrogant in front of Katherine. When she saw her return, she immediately became haughty.

"It's you. I thought my takeout had arrived!" Sherry said.

Katherine had no intention of engaging in conversation with Sherry. She walked past her and went straight upstairs.

However, Sherry blocked her way and stared at her with disdain.

"Katherine, are you really wearing men's clothes? You didn't come home last night. Were you with a man?" Sherry started shouting before Katherine could explain.

"Mom, Dad, come out and see! Look at what Katherine is wearing!" Sherry exclaimed.

Joshua came out of the room. When he saw Katherine in men's clothing, his face darkened.

"Katherine, why are you wearing men's clothes? You didn't come home last night either. What have you been up to?" he asked.

Lillian, who followed Joshua, immediately looked shocked. "This is so inappropriate! Katherine, as a single girl, how can you wear men's clothes? It will damage the Galatea family's reputation!"

Sherry chimed in, "Dad, Katherine refused to meet the blind date my mom arranged for her, but here she is, spending the night with a man! How could she do such a thing?"

Joshua's expression grew even darker. He reprimanded, "Katherine, explain right now what's going on with the clothes you're wearing!"

Katherine calmly explained to Joshua, "Dad, my clothes got wet due to an accident, so I borrowed these clothes from someone temporarily. I will return them after washing."

Sherry snorted, "Borrowed clothes? I don't believe it!"

Joshua still had some doubts. "You didn't come back all night. Where did you go?"

Katherine replied, "I rented a house yesterday, and I stayed there for the night. I came back today to pack my things, and I will move out later."

She treated the Melville Manor as the house she rented and the three months as her rental period.

Joshua frowned. "You're moving out? You have a home here. Where will you go?"

Lillian exaggeratedly said, "Joshua, is Katherine planning to move in with that man? Our family has always been conservative and doesn't support unmarried cohabitation! If rumors spread and damage her reputation, no man will marry her in the future. Besides, our family's honor will be tarnished!"

Sherry sneered and muttered, "She didn't come back all night and is wearing men's clothes. She must have slept with some unknown man!"

Joshua's expression grew increasingly grim. He looked at Katherine with deep disappointment.

Katherine, however, looked at Lillian and Sherry and smiled faintly. "Lillian, Sherry, thank you for your concern. I'm just an ordinary person. No matter what I do, nobody recognizes me, not even many of my own relatives. So, I can't tarnish the Galatea family's reputation.

"But Sherry, you're a celebrity, so famous. If you have even a hint of scandal, it will make the headlines. You should be the one to be mindful of your private life and reputation and not give the media a chance to write about you being kept by wealthy men. If you can't get married because of that, Lillian will worry and be anxious for you."

Sherry gritted her teeth in anger. "Katherine, who do you think won't get married?"

Katherine said, "I forgot, you got married yesterday! By the way, where is your groom, Mr. Melville? Won't you introduce my brother-in-law to me?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the atmosphere immediately became tense.

Joshua glared at Lillian and Sherry with a dark expression.

Just mentioning this matter made him angry. Because of the absurd wedding yesterday, Joshua lost his dignity in front of his relatives and friends!

Katherine continued, "Dad, I used to live at home while I was still studying. Now that I'm an adult and working, I want to learn to live independently. Don't worry. After I move out, I won't do anything to embarrass you."

Joshua looked at Katherine. Compared to Lillian and Sherry, who embarrassed him, Katherine seemed much more considerate.

So he waved his hand and said, "Alright, if you want to live on your own, go ahead. The house is already a mess anyway."

"Thank you, Dad."

Katherine glanced at the defeated Lillian and Sherry, then turned and went upstairs.

While she was changing clothes, Sherry barged in again.

Sherry was about to scold Katherine when she suddenly noticed the label printed inside the men's suit jacket that Katherine had taken off!

She was greatly shocked.

The clothing turned out to be a luxurious piece from the high-end series of the prestigious brand FA!

Sherry couldn't understand how a country girl like Katherine could come into contact with such high-end men's clothing.
