Chapter 351 Obsessive love

Alex stayed quiet.

Scarlett had once risked everything to save him by sucking out snake venom, which left her infertile.

He felt forever indebted to her and couldn't meet her emotional needs. So, when Bernard criticized him, he had no defense.

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Bernard, if you care about Scarlett, you should focus on finding her son instead of fighting with me over a man!"

Bernard's glare at Alex softened, but he looked at Katherine with disgust and anger.

It was all her fault!

Katherine had pushed Scarlett to the brink of a breakdown. He wished he could strangle her!

Just then, several servants came running back, out of breath. "Mr. Mitchell, we've searched everywhere but still can't find the child!"

Hearing this, Scarlett started crying again. "Where's Charles? My Charles!"

Bernard snapped back to reality and sternly asked his subordinates, "Have you checked all the rooms?"

A servant replied, "We've searched everywhere except the two special rooms upstairs. We didn't dare enter without your permission."

Mentioning the 'special' rooms, a worried look crossed Bernard's face. After a brief pause, he waved his hand.

"I'll check them myself. You get some search dogs and search the house again!"

"Yes, Mr. Mitchell!"

The servants hurried off to follow orders.

Bernard, looking tired, turned to Scarlett and gently said, "I'll check upstairs. Don't worry, we'll find him."

Scarlett knew Bernard was going to check the 'special' rooms. She thought for a moment, wiped her tears, and said, "Bernard, let Alex go with you. Charles likes Alex best. He'll come out for Alex."

Bernard instinctively resisted. Normally, he wouldn't let anyone into those rooms, especially an outsider. But seeing Scarlett's anxious face, he couldn't refuse. He turned coldly to Alex and said, "Let's go."

Alex had no reason to refuse but was worried about Katherine. He looked at her.

Katherine, understanding the situation, sensibly sat down on the sofa. "Alex, go ahead! I'll wait here."

He smiled, patted her head, and said, "Don't wander off."

Katherine nodded. "I know!"

She was rarely this compliant, understanding the seriousness of the situation.

So, the two men went upstairs.

With no one else around, Scarlett dropped her tearful act and glared darkly at Katherine.

Every move Alex made toward Katherine felt like a stab to Scarlett's heart.

Katherine noticed Scarlett's glare but didn't bother to respond. She lazily yawned on the sofa, looking around.

So, this was the Mitchell family? The place where she was born. She had no memory of it at all.

"Katherine, can we talk privately?" Scarlett suddenly asked.

Katherine wasn't having it. "Nope, too lazy to move. If you have something to say, say it here. This is your house, I'm not scared. What are you afraid of?"

Scarlett, frustrated, gritted her teeth. "Katherine, I underestimated you before, but I won't give up so easily!"

Katherine didn't care to argue. Competing with Scarlett wasn't worth her time. But she did have one question.

"Scarlett, there's no one else here. Be honest! Is Charles really missing, or is this just a ruse?"

Using that innocent child to manipulate Alex was Scarlett's usual tactic. Katherine doubted the authenticity of today's disappearance.

Scarlett, with red eyes, wiped away her forced tears. "Do I look like I'm joking? My Charles is really missing!"

Katherine didn't buy it. "If it's true, instead of crying here, you should be out looking for him! Even if he isn't your biological child, you should be responsible for his safety!"

Scarlett's face changed. Damn it! Katherine knew Charles was adopted!

"Yes! Charles isn't my biological child! But even if he's adopted, he'll always keep Alex and me together! Alex is responsible; he won't abandon us! Katherine, don't think you can take Alex away from me. It's impossible!"

Katherine didn't care about the adopted child. She just looked at Scarlett with confusion. "Aren't you tired of this?"

Scarlett laughed maniacally. "I'm not tired! I'll do whatever it takes to keep Alex by my side! Because I love him!"

Katherine shook her head. "No, that's not love."

Scarlett retorted, "If this isn't love, what is? No one loves Alex more than I do, not even you!"

Katherine looked at her like she was crazy. "This is called obsession."

Scarlett, furious, stood up. "Katherine, you bitch, what do you know! One day, Alex will understand that I'm the one who loves him the most!"

Katherine felt speechless, lazily smiled, and didn't want to deal with this crazy woman anymore.

Scarlett glared at her, stomped her foot, and then unhappily turned and left, probably to look for Charles.

After a while, a maid brought her a cup of coffee. "Ms. Galatea, please have some coffee."

"Thank you." Katherine, feeling thirsty, took the coffee and was about to drink it when she noticed a smear of red liquid on the white cup, pausing.

The texture of the red liquid didn't look like a beverage.

Katherine became alert, dipped her finger in the red liquid, and brought it to her nose.

This was blood?

Why was there blood?
