Chapter 886 We'll Leave First

Julian nodded, understanding Katherine's predicament, and could only be sensible.

Katherine really wanted Julian by her side, but the current situation didn't allow it. She couldn't bear to see Julian sad watching them play outside, so she said to Trevor, "Alright, it's too noisy around here to hear clearly. Let's not talk for now, I'll hang up!"

Then, the video on Trevor's phone screen disappeared.

Trevor stared at the screen. Just like that, she hung up. She still didn't say if she was with Jonathan or not!

At this moment, Julian tugged at his clothes and softly reminded him, "Daddy, it looks like Sophia is back!"

Trevor came to his senses, sat back in his wheelchair, and cleared all the records on his phone.

When Sophia pushed the door open and came in, she only saw Trevor looking for home clothes for Julian in the wardrobe.

She was troubled by the issue of being restricted from leaving the country and didn't notice anything unusual about Trevor.

"Trevor, are you hungry? Should I call the hotel to send up some dishes you and Julian like? I'm a bit tired today and don't feel like cooking."

Trevor nodded, "Yeah, if you're tired, go rest. We can eat anything."

Sophia absentmindedly responded, turning around and saying, "Okay, I'll have the hotel service bring the food up."

Trevor took out a tank top and shorts for Julian to change into and let Julian change by himself.

Then he wheeled himself out of the room and saw Sophia sitting on the sofa, looking extremely tired and sighing.

Trevor squinted his eyes, wheeled over, and asked, "What's wrong? You look so pale. Is there a problem with Brent?"

Sophia snapped out of it, a bit surprised that Trevor would care about her complexion, and forced a smile, "No, nothing, Trevor. I'm just a bit tired."

Trevor tentatively said, "If you're tired, go take a nap. Didn't you say we're going back to Markovia in a couple of days? We should start packing tomorrow."

Mentioning the return to Markovia, Sophia's face turned a bit grim, "Trevor, we're not going back to Markovia for now!"

Trevor raised his eyebrows in confusion, "Why not?"

Sophia sighed in distress, "It's just that my dad's company has some tax issues, and I need to stay here to help him deal with them. Brent is getting old, and Nora is giving him a hard time. I can't leave him alone."

She deliberately hid the fact that she was restricted from leaving the country.

But Trevor already knew, "Well, that's fine. You stay here and help Brent with the company issues. I can take Julian back first and wait for you."

Sophia looked surprised, "Trevor, you want to take Julian back first? You're not staying here with me?"

Trevor's lips curled into a cold smile, "What can I do to help you in my condition? Brent doesn't like me. Seeing me makes him unhappy. It's better if I take Julian back first so you can focus on the company's issues."

Sophia hesitated, looking at Trevor, "But..."

Trevor interrupted her, "But what? Is the company's issue that hard to handle? Will it take a year or more?"

Sophia shook her head, "No, it's not that!"

"Since it won't take long, Julian and I will just go back for a few days. We're not very comfortable staying here anyway."

Hearing Trevor say this, Sophia thought for a moment, "Alright then! I'll have my dad arrange for someone to send you and Julian back to Markovia first. Once the issues here are resolved, I'll come back to you immediately."

If it weren't for worrying that Katherine might try to take them away, she wouldn't let Trevor take Julian now!

It was much better to have Trevor and Julian under her watchful eye, but she might have had to deal with a tax investigation and couldn't look after them.

After thinking it over, letting Trevor take Julian back to Markovia first seemed like a good idea.

She would have Brent's people keep an eye on Trevor and Julian, and nothing would go wrong in Markovia.

Trevor nodded, "You should get some sleep. I'll wait here for room service to bring the food up."

Sophia felt a bit flattered by Trevor's rare concern.

"Thank you, Trevor. It's so good to have you around. I'll definitely miss you when you go back to Markovia first."

Trevor didn't respond to her words, and just then, there was a knock on the door. It was the room service.

Trevor wheeled himself to open the door.

The fireworks show at the amusement park had started, and Katherine was watching with Charles, George, and Edith from the VIP platform.

George and Edith were jumping around, extremely happy.

Charles, sensing that Katherine seemed preoccupied, snuggled up to her and asked with concern, "Mommy, what's wrong? You don't seem very happy."

Katherine was staring at the brilliant fireworks in the sky, and hearing Charles's question, she smiled and shook her head, "Charles, Mommy is fine, just a bit tired."

Charles immediately drooped his head like a child who had done something wrong, "It's all my fault. I insisted on coming to the amusement park, making Mommy so tired and still having to accompany us."

Katherine frowned, placing her hand on Charles's head and ruffling his hair, "What are you talking about? Mommy is happy to come and play with you! Mommy didn't have the chance to come here when I was little!"

The guilt in Charles's eyes faded, and he looked at Katherine with wide eyes, "Why? Didn't anyone take you to the amusement park when you were little?"

Katherine said, "No, Mommy didn't have anyone to take care of me for a long time when I was little. I was all by myself"

Charles didn't know about Katherine's childhood. Hearing this for the first time, he felt sorry and hugged Katherine.

"Mommy, you'll never be alone again. I'll be with you, George, Edith, and Julian will be with you, and Daddy will be with you if he comes back."

Katherine gently ruffled his hair, "And you too, you'll never be alone. You have Mommy, George, Edith, Julian, and Daddy."

The uncertainty in Charles's eyes was replaced with a glimmer of hope, like the reflection of fireworks in the sky, or a spark of hope ignited from within.

By the time they returned to the Melville Manor, it was already late at night.

The fireworks show at the amusement park didn't end late, but because of the crowd, Katherine was worried about losing the kids in the dark. Since she was alone with the kids and had no help, she waited until the crowd thinned out before leaving with Charles, George, and Edith.
