Chapter 643 Humor Me

Frank grabbed the chocolate but didn't chow down. He just held it, staring. "Did you snag this, or did Anthony?"

Teresa shrugged and said bluntly, "Anthony got it for me."

Frank's eyebrow shot up. "A basic box of chocolate makes you this giddy? Thought it'd be some fancy, high-end stuff!"

Teresa rolled her eyes. "Mr. Perez, if you wanna eat it, go ahead. If not, hand it back! Not everyone's rolling in dough like you, buying gourmet chocolate!"

Frank smirked. "You could too. Alex could even bring a top chocolatier to whip up fresh chocolate at your place, right?"

Teresa's eyes flickered. "Sure, but Anthony can't. His family's working-class; they can't blow cash on stuff like that."

Frank chuckled, "Spending a bit more on chocolate for you, how's that a waste?"

Teresa huffed, defending Anthony. "If I wanted, Anthony would totally buy it for me. I just can't let him splurge like that."

Frank shook his head, grinning, and casually set the chocolate on the table. He stood up, looking down at Teresa. "You know, it's not smart for a girl to marry a guy whose family's way worse off. You can pinch pennies for him now and then, but can you keep lowering your standards forever?"

Teresa avoided his gaze, turning her head. "Didn't you say Anthony's family was well-off, his parents educated, and he was impressive?"

Frank nodded. "Yeah, but that was for the other gals at work. I didn't think you'd fall for Anthony so fast!"

The word "fall" made Teresa squirm. "I just want someone by my side to feel secure. Money doesn't matter!"

Frank leaned in closer. "Teresa, even if you don't pick me, don't settle for a box of cheap chocolate. You deserve better!"

Teresa instinctively stepped back. "Thanks for the compliment!"

Frank sighed. "I'm serious. Don't trust guys too easily. There's a difference between being broke and being stingy."

Teresa was taken aback, then frowned. "Didn't expect to hear that from you."

Frank didn't push it, just patted her head. "Date whoever you want. I won't interfere. If you ever wanna come back, I'm here."

Teresa thought, 'What's that supposed to mean?'

For the past three days, Leander showed up every morning, hanging around all day. In the evening, the Melville Family's bodyguards took over.

Katherine, Ambrosia, and Frank got used to it. They couldn't kick him out, and having a free guard wasn't the worst thing.

That day, like clockwork, Leander arrived early and stood watch at the door.

Frank and Ambrosia had bounced to the office, leaving Katherine to chill at home solo.

Around ten, the doorbell buzzed.

Lately, Teresa had been popping by, so Leander figured it was her again. But it was Sophia.

Sophia saw Leander open the door and didn't bat an eye. She knew Alex had set this up. "Leander, I'm here to see Katherine. Is she around?"

Leander was a bit thrown off and cautious, worried the two might clash again. "Mrs. Melville's home. Ms. Coleman Do you have business with her?"

Sophia didn't beat around the bush. "Just visiting and inviting her to my birthday bash."

Leander hesitated. "Uh..."

Sophia, catching his drift, flashed a bright smile. "Relax, I already cleared it with Alex. He's cool with it."

Leander nodded. "Got it. Hang tight in the living room. I'll fetch Mrs. Melville, but she might be catching some Z's."

Sophia waved it off. "No worries. If she's resting, let her be. I can wait."

Leander appreciated her chill vibe and headed to Katherine's room, knocking gently.

Katherine wasn't napping; she was scrolling through baby clothes online. With her due date looming, there was still a ton to prep.

Hearing the knock, she got up and opened the door.

Leander, all respectful, said, "Mrs. Melville, Ms. Coleman is here to see you."

Katherine yawned. "Tell her I'm not home."

Leander, looking awkward, said, "She already knows you're here and is waiting in the living room."

Katherine shrugged and was about to shut the door.

Just then, Sophia strolled over with a friendly grin. "Katherine."

Katherine's eyes narrowed with a hint of disdain. "What do you want?"

Sophia stepped closer, all apologetic. "Katherine, I think we had some misunderstandings last time. I'm here to say sorry and invite you to my birthday party the day after tomorrow."

She pulled out a fancy invite from her bag and handed it to Katherine. "Feel free to bring friends. I love a lively crowd."

Katherine glanced at the invite, her tone icy. "Sophia, do you really think I'm in any shape to party right now?"

Sophia eyed Katherine's baby bump and said thoughtfully, "I think you can. You don't have to drink; have some juice. I've heard pregnant women should socialize more. It's good for you!"

Katherine smiled politely and handed back the invite. "Thanks, but I'm not into meaningless social events."

Sophia grabbed her hand, pleading. "Katherine, please come! I don't have many friends here, and I really want to be friends with you. Can't you just humor me?"

Katherine pulled her hand back.
