Chapter 236 Katherine Is Really Something!
When they heard this, Bernard and Billy both turned to Katherine, giving her a second look.
After a couple of seconds of silence, Bernard squinted and asked, "You know Arabic?"
Katherine smiled and said, "A little."
Billy snorted, thinking Katherine was arrogant. After the interview, he thought even less of her.
Billy said, "Knowing a language isn't just about a few phrases! Ms. Galatea, Mr. Mitchell, and I are discussing serious matters. Please don't cause trouble!"
Katherine's resume didn't mention any language skills, and Billy doubted she could speak Arabic, one of the hardest languages. If she could, why wasn't it on her resume?
Katherine stayed calm and said, "I don't know much, but it's enough!"
Billy sneered and ignored her, turning to his boss, "Mr. Mitchell, what should we do now?"
Bernard had already looked away from Katherine and was staring at the computer screen, thinking about how to quickly find a professional Arabic translator.
Like Billy, he thought Katherine was just causing trouble.
Katherine knew they didn't believe her. She stepped forward and said, "Mr. Mitchell, the Mitchell Group is in a tight spot. If you can't find a translator, you'll lose this big deal with the Arab client. Why not give me a chance instead of risking disaster?"
Bernard shot her a cold look. "Ms. Galatea, this isn't a game!"
Katherine smiled and said, "Mr. Mitchell, do I seem like I'm joking? Let's make a bet. If I help the Mitchell Group secure this deal, you make me the executive secretary. If I fail, I'll disappear from your sight forever and never bother you, Scarlett, or Alex again. Deal?"
Honestly, she didn't like Bernard's personality. Even though she was almost certain he was her biological brother, his snobbish attitude annoyed her.
But after seeing the photo of her mom on Bernard's desk, Katherine was even more determined to stay at the Mitchell Group.
Only by staying could she uncover the truth about the past.
Bernard stared at her for a moment before pursing his lips. "Alright. Billy, take her to try."
Billy was stunned. "Uh? Mr. Mitchell, this..."
Katherine seemed unreliable!
Wasn't Mr. Mitchell taking a big risk with this Arab deal?
Bernard wasn't joking or being careless.
At this point, no suitable translator was available on short notice. What could be worse? Losing the deal!
Katherine's bet was tempting. If she failed, she promised not to bother Scarlett and Alex anymore, which would clear a major emotional hurdle for Scarlett.
So, let her try!
Bernard took a sip of his lukewarm coffee and said, "Billy, if Ms. Galatea fails to satisfy the Arab clients, don't bother bringing her back. The Mitchell Group won't welcome an arrogant person again!"
"Yes!" Billy replied.
He had no choice but to obey, casting a disdainful look at Katherine. "Ms. Galatea, follow me."
Katherine nodded, stifling a lazy yawn, and followed Billy to the hotel where the Arab clients were staying.
Three men in traditional attire were dining in the hotel restaurant.
They were conversing in a foreign language, their tones and expressions serious and displeased. They seemed to be venting about something that angered them.
Not far from the restaurant, Billy handed Katherine the information about the Arab deal and said coldly, "Those are the three Arab clients. Need me to take you over?"
Katherine waved her hand casually. "No need, I can go by myself."
Billy had no intention of leading her over. Who knew what Katherine might do? If she embarrassed herself, he didn't want to be associated with her!
Billy had essentially given up on this deal, and Mr. Mitchell seemed to have the same idea. He saw this as an opportunity to rid himself of the troublesome Katherine.
Katherine quickly skimmed through the information in her hand. After getting a general understanding, she walked over confidently and greeted the three men in traditional attire.
Billy, who didn't understand Arabic, took a seat nearby and observed the clients' expressions from a distance.
At first, the three Arab men were still displeased due to the previous incompetent translator. But after Katherine introduced herself and spoke to them in Arabic, their faces lit up with bright smiles. They warmly invited her to sit down and dine with them, and she chatted with them pleasantly.
Billy was stunned, blinking in disbelief. Was he seeing things correctly?
After watching for a while, Billy saw Katherine speaking Arabic fluently and professionally. He couldn't help but admire her in a new light.
This Katherine, she’s really got somthing?!
Meanwhile, at the renowned French restaurant Le Papillon Blanc in Janetrick.
Bernard walked in with an elegant and noble demeanor. The restaurant manager immediately greeted him warmly, "Mr. Mitchell, you're here! Mr. Melville and Miss Mitchell are waiting for you at the VIP table. Please follow me. I'll take you there."
Bernard nodded slightly and followed the manager.
At the VIP table, Scarlett was chatting enthusiastically with the guest opposite her. When she saw Bernard, she stopped talking and waved with a bright smile, "Bernard, you're here!"
A waiter respectfully pulled out a chair for him, and Bernard walked over and naturally sat next to his sister.
After ordering, Bernard closed the menu and handed it to the waiter, then waved them away, indicating they didn't need further service.
"Alex, sorry to keep you waiting," Bernard said to Alex, who was slowly cutting his steak.
