Chapter 948 Take Me Up There
Sunny helped Edwin up and matched his pace as they walked towards the door together.
Passing by Ambrosia, Sunny leaned in and whispered, "I'll take my dad to the driver's car outside first, and then I'll come back to find you. Wait for me!"
Ambrosia nodded slightly, adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses, and continued talking with Frank and Teresa.
As Sunny and Edwin left the ward, Frank chuckled and teased, "Ambrosia, I think Sunny is quite serious about you. Have you considered following our example and getting married?"
Frank's arm was around Teresa as he spoke, and the two looked intimate and happy.
Ambrosia rolled her eyes at him, "Is this the time to talk about such things? Katherine just went through a major ordeal, and she just woke up. How can you still laugh? Katherine used to treat you so well for nothing!"
Frank became a bit more serious, "You're misunderstanding me! I just thought the mood was a bit heavy and wanted to lighten it up!"
Ambrosia snorted and ignored him, turning to Teresa, "Marrying a jerk like Frank must be tough for you!"
Teresa shrugged, "Well, what can I say? I had to reluctantly take him in to prevent him from causing trouble for other girls!"
Ambrosia patted Teresa's shoulder, "You're a real trooper!"
Hearing this, Frank pulled Teresa into a corner, "What are you saying? You reluctantly took me in? How reluctant?"
Teresa pouted, "Pretty reluctant!"
Frank lifted her chin, "If it's so reluctant, why don't you let me go? Give me my freedom, and I'll find someone else to have fun with!"
Teresa glared at him, "You wouldn't dare!"
Frank immediately laughed, "Of course I wouldn't! Just joking with you! You can tease me with Ambrosia, but I can't make a joke?"
Teresa. "No!"
Ambrosia remained silent.
Sunny accompanied Edwin into the elevator. As the elevator doors closed, he saw a familiar little girl running past the elevator entrance.
Edwin noticed Sunny's unusual expression, "What's wrong? Did you see someone you know? If you see a familiar friend, go say hello. I can go to the car by myself."
Sunny quickly shook his head, "No! Not really a friend, just someone I saw once when Katherine visited another hospital to see a woman. I don't know who she was! There was a little girl in that woman's room, and I just saw that little girl run past the elevator entrance! I don't know why she's at this hospital now!"
Edwin acknowledged but didn't pay much attention until the elevator reached the first floor and the doors opened. Edwin seemed to realize something, "Sunny, did you just say Katherine visited a woman at another hospital? How old was the woman?"
Sunny found Edwin's reaction a bit strange, "About fifty-something, but she looked very young and well-maintained. She was hospitalized for some external injuries. By the way, the other hospital is the one where you were hospitalized recently, Dad. When I saw Katherine visiting a stranger, I had someone check it out, but the hospital's inpatient department had no information. It was quite strange! Later, they transferred hospitals."
Edwin increasingly felt like he had figured something out and suddenly grabbed Sunny's hand, "Quick! Which floor was it? Take me up there again!"
Sunny looked at Edwin in confusion, "Dad, what's wrong? Do you know that little girl too?"
Edwin didn't have time to explain much to Sunny, "Just take me up there quickly! We need to find out which room that little girl is in!"
Seeing Edwin so anxious, Sunny didn't ask further and returned to the elevator, pressing the previous floor.
Back on the original floor, Edwin quickly walked out of the elevator, "Sunny, which way did you see the little girl run?"
Sunny pointed in the direction for Edwin, "That way!"
Edwin hurriedly walked in that direction, checking each room.
At this moment, Claire was sitting by the bed, eating the late-night snack Nora had bought for her.
For some reason, she had suddenly woken up in the middle of the night, and her heart had been racing ever since.
Claire had a strong sense of unease and was inexplicably worried about Katherine, whom she had just reunited with.
But when Claire woke up, it was already early morning, and she didn't dare to call Katherine to check on her. She couldn't sleep either!
Even though Katherine had stayed with her until the evening, she couldn't shake the feeling that something might have happened to Katherine, making her so restless.
Nora, worried about her, had ordered a late-night snack to distract her.
Nora was really kind and hadn't let Brent's detention affect their relationship at all. They had talked things out and were as close as ever.
"Claire, stop daydreaming and eat while it's hot! Don't worry, Katherine is so lucky, nothing will happen to her! You can't be so worried over a nightmare. Besides, Katherine isn't alone now; Alex is with her. She'll be fine!"
Nora's concerned voice brought Claire back to reality. She forced a smile and nodded.
Nora was right. She was being overly cautious and fearful. It was just a nightmare, and she really thought something would happen to Katherine!
She should be hoping for Katherine's well-being, not overthinking. She should finish her snack and go back to sleep. In the morning, she could call Katherine!
Claire forced herself to calm down and took a few bites of porridge, but her chest tightened again, making it hard to swallow.
Nora noticed her pale face, "What's wrong, Claire? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor?"
Claire put the porridge aside, clutching her chest and taking a deep breath, "It's nothing, Nora. It's late, don't bother the doctor. I just feel a bit anxious, probably still affected by the nightmare. It's nothing."
Nora couldn't be at ease, "Claire, you don't look well. If you're unwell, don't tough it out. This is a hospital, and there are doctors on night duty. If you don't bother them, they won't sleep either! Listen to me, wait here, and I'll get a doctor to check on you."
Saying this, Nora was about to go find a doctor. As she walked out, she instructed Linda, who was also still awake, "Linda, watch over Claire. Mommy is going to get a doctor."
