Chapter 367 Katherine Is Laura

"You two are using your positions to snoop into blood donors' private lives. Is this your idea of professional ethics? Do you still think you deserve to be called nurses?"

Bernard's sarcastic remark made them look down in shame.

"Mr. Mitchell, we know we messed up! We're just interns and not officially nurses yet. Please don't spread this around. We don't want our actions to tarnish the hospital's or the medical profession's reputation. Our colleagues work hard, and we can't let our mistakes affect them. I'll resign when I get back."

Bernard, with an indifferent look, raised an eyebrow at the other nurse. "She'll resign. What about you?"

The other nurse, choking up, said, "Mr. Mitchell, I lost the bet and was already planning to leave. Once I'm gone, I won't tarnish the reputation of nurses anymore."

Bernard, known for his decisiveness, had no sympathy for tears. He believed adults must face the consequences of their actions. These two had taken blood samples for DNA tests out of curiosity. They didn't deserve to work in the hospital anymore.

He turned to Billy and coldly ordered, "Interrogate them again, check their recent activities, and see if there's anything suspicious outside the hospital. If they're telling the truth, inform the director of Kryptonix City Hospital and let the higher-ups handle it."

Resignation was too lenient. They should be fired and banned from the field. That was the lesson they deserved.

"Yes, Mr. Mitchell," Billy replied.

Bernard put down his coffee, stood up, and headed for the door. Just as he was about to turn the doorknob, he paused and turned back to the nurses. "Who said she lost the bet?"

The nurse who lost the bet admitted, "Yes, Mr. Mitchell, it was me."

Bernard's eyes narrowed. "What was the bet about?"

The nurse explained, "She bet you and Ms. Galatea were siblings, and I bet you were a couple. The test confirmed you and Ms. Galatea are siblings, so I lost. I wrongly assumed you were irresponsible, but you're actually a caring brother. I'm truly sorry for misunderstanding you!"

As the nurse spoke, she didn't notice Bernard's eyes turning bloodshot with rage.

Bernard stormed over and almost violently grabbed her by the collar. "Say it again! What did the test results show about my relationship with Katherine?"

The nurse, startled and confused, stammered, "The test results confirmed that you... you and Ms. Galatea are biological siblings."

Bernard, with a grim face, growled, "Where's the test report?"

Trembling, the nurse explained, "We destroyed it after seeing it because we broke the rules... Mr. Mitchell, what's wrong?"

Bernard's face tightened. "I'll ask you one more time! Are you sure the test showed Katherine and I are biological siblings?"

"Yes, I'm sure. The bet was tied to my chance of becoming a full-time nurse, so I wouldn't get it wrong. The test showed you and Ms. Galatea are siblings!"

Bernard's expression turned dazed, and he finally let go of the nurse, who was already in tears.

His hands trembled slightly. The news had shocked him to his core. He had always felt a reluctance to be harsh with Katherine, thinking it was because she had once saved his grandfather.

Billy was equally stunned. The Ms. Mitchell that Bernard had been searching for all these years turned out to be Katherine, the woman he had always disliked?

Billy stepped forward cautiously. "Mr. Mitchell, are you alright?"

Bernard clutched his chest, trying to control the pain, took a deep breath, and ordered, "Find out what’s going on and get me the facts as soon as possible!"

Billy nodded immediately. "Yes, Mr. Mitchell, I'll handle it right away!"

Bernard walked out in a daze, his steps unsteady.

The two nurses, seeing him leave, knelt on the ground, begging for mercy. "Mr. Mitchell, we know we were wrong! Please forgive us!" "Mr. Mitchell, let us go. We won't do this again."

But Bernard didn't look back. The door closed, and the bodyguard came back in to watch them.

At 4 a.m. the next day, Billy hurried back to the Mitchell family and knocked on the study door, which had been lit all night.

"Come in."

Bernard's tired and emotionless voice came through.

Billy entered and solemnly handed over a report. "Mr. Mitchell, I had someone extract Katherine's DNA from her office at the company. The test report was rushed overnight. The analysis confirms that Katherine is indeed the long-lost Ms. Mitchell, with a complete DNA match."

Bernard, leaning back in his chair, had his pupils contract, his eyes already bloodshot. Billy's confirmation only verified what the nurses had said, and it no longer shocked him.

He hadn't slept all night, sitting in the study, repeatedly reflecting on his recent attitude and actions towards Katherine.
